September 28, 201014 yr whilst I wouldnt totally rule out JLS winning, I highly doubt that they'll have such huge sales again- although doubtless that will be a huge week for sales, and also last week the anticipation was high- I know Robbie's was too, but JLS had two huge number 1 singles and Robbies comeback kind of performed poorly in comparison, but this year, JLS have had a number 1 now yes, but it has been a total flash in the pan and has been nowhere near the success of their two others (three actually, One Shot has probably outsold it even though it didnt get there) , of course Im not ruling out their next one doing well, but I just cant see it doing amazingly, whereas I am doubtless Shame will be huge and shoot to number 1, and Im sure whatever single they do it will get an XF slot and a huge number 1 so I predict Take That with possible over 250k, although most likely just under with JLS around 150-200k
September 28, 201014 yr Joe Mcelderry has PP his album a week later to avoid NE-YO,Pixie Lott, Kings Of Leon! Why does Pixie always release her album againgst the big guns? She will no way overcome any of these! I think maybe She will be on the xfactor so that itself should get around 50k sales :)
September 28, 201014 yr Ne-Yo's album won't do very well. Beautiful Monster was a bit of a soggy #1, low sales and it fell very quickly, and I can't see One In A Million doing a lot better really. Pixie will top Ne-Yo's album even though it's just a re-release of an album that's already sold a lot... she definitely won't beat KOL though. She might finally go top 5.
September 28, 201014 yr Beautiful Monster has sold over 300k :o So i woudln't say it has poor sales tbh! I hope so! Pixie Will i think get top 5 though as not alot of big albums are realased before her, but again it's depending on who performs on xfactor and who is out before her. i can't wait though! I love these chart battles. Rihanna Only Girl Vs Cheryl Cole Promise this will be a cheryl victory with Rihanna getting i think her 7th uk number 2?
September 28, 201014 yr I think that JLS definitely wouldn't be able to beat Take That, didn't 'The Circus' sell something around 420,000 in the first week?! I don't think JLS will match the sales of their first album, but they should definitely be able to get over 150k with their huge fanbase.

In that case, ignore the comment about low sales, it still fell very quickly (all the way down to 28 after just 2 months) If Rihanna gets #2 that'll be her 8th song to peak at #2 (6th as a lead artist after Pon De Replay, SOS, Unfaithful, Russian Roulette and Rude Boy + Live Your Life and Love The Way You Lie as featured artist). I think Rihanna will probably bring her release forward to avoid Cheryl though... then again she might pull it forward to equal competition, who knows? It'll sell a lot even if it doesn't get #1.
September 28, 201014 yr I dont think we can rule out JLS. Ive just found out they are doing the same thing they did with their last album (each member doing a solo cover as the album sleeve). I can see the JLS fans buying multiple covers and causing JLS to dwarf Take Thats total. Then again Take That sells bucketloads of albums and have a wider fanbase beyond screaming young girls and grannies lol. Well at least its gonna make the album chart much more interesting when the week ends. Lets have more of this :D
September 28, 201014 yr JLS will beat Thake That not a fan of either band, but JLS is doing the same 5 cover trick again... and who thought JLS was gonne beat Robbie
September 28, 201014 yr I voted Take That with first week sales in the region of 200k - 250k - we're approaching the "big 3" ie; October, November, December when album sales suddently get a boost thanks to people buying albums as Xmas presents. JLS may have beaten Robbie Williams but I suspect they'll struggle to compete against Take That especially if TT's lead single is a really strong track.
September 28, 201014 yr Take That are going to be massive. The Circus sold some 400,000 did it not? I might be confused there but IF the lead single is on par with the Beautiful World stuff then I seriously think they could sell 300k or even more. There's so much hype around Robbie reuniting with them that it's going to sell shedloads regardless. JLS will probably have big first week sales but not enough to get higher than #2. I honestly can't see this record selling as much as their debut - a quick tail off and no recovery after Christmas seems likely. Just a shame P!nk's GHits and MCR's new album will be lower now because of this :(
September 28, 201014 yr And there will be the 2nd week of Susan Boyle to contend with. I doubt she'll sell as strongly this year but I'd love it if she could sell enough in her 2nd week to keep JLS at bay :heehee:

JLS's chances improve though if Take That have a lead single similar to the lead single from The Circus. Although their 2009 tour, themed around the album, was an exceptional feat ... the album itself wasn't as good as Beautiful World. Kath Edited September 28, 201014 yr by Kathyp
September 28, 201014 yr according to wikipedia: Prior to the official release of The Circus it was revealed that the album had broken all preorder records and had become the most preordered album of all time. The Circus sold 133,000 copies on its first day of release. In the UK Albums Chart, the album sold 306,000 copies (going platinum) in the first four days of being on sale making The Circus the fastest selling album of the year. The album reached the top of the UK album charts on 7 December 2008 with total first-week sales of 432,490, the third highest opening sales week in UK history. The album debuted at #3 on the Irish Albums Chart and a week later rose to #1. On Friday 19 December 2008, the album had sold 1 million copies sold by its 19th day in UK shops, making it the second fastest album in the UK to reach 1 million copies, behind Oasis's Be Here Now in 1997. The album stayed on top of the UK albums chart for 5 weeks and became one of the biggest selling albums of 2008 in the UK. The album has been certified double platinum in Europe (inc the UK and Ireland) for sales in excess of two million copies and was the 27th best-selling album worldwide in 2008 according to IFPI.
September 28, 201014 yr Incredible that an album can open with 300,000 sales + in ONE WEEK! Some albums take months to get to that total, like literally MONTHS, when some can do it in one week at the right time of the year, incredible!
September 28, 201014 yr I am surprised some of you see JLS as Take That competition. Their new album is going to be massive.Easily 500-600k on its opening week. Can't see JLS selling this amount even with multiply album sleeves.
September 28, 201014 yr JLS's chances improve though if Take That have a lead single similar to the lead single from The Circus. Although their 2009 tour, themed around the album, was an exceptional feat ... the album itself wasn't as good as Beautiful World. Kath I honestly think that Greatest Day is the weakest single (or one of) that they've released since 2006, I never really got into it, and selling near enough 450k albums off the back of that was incredible. I'm surprised it still gets so much airplay, I wouldn't rank it anywhere near Shine, Patience or Rule The World in terms of quality. So even if The Flood is crap, they'll still probably clear 300k at the very least  If it's the new Patience/Rule The World however, the first week total could be very high indeed.
September 28, 201014 yr Thinking about it now I think its a smart move by JLS record label. Its pretty obvious that Take That will get to Number 1, but no doubt will JLS album sales be a lot higher that they normally would have been. They are already receiving quite a bit of press for it too.. Someone on Live From Studio 5 even said that JLS were clever attempting to get some press attention themselves from the Take That reunion/album hype

Greatest Day was indeed a bit weak to say the least. The video was pants too (what was all that 'windmill dancing' that Jason, Howard and Mark were doing?) It wasn't so much the weakest single since 2006 as possibly one of the weakest singles .... period! Having said that ... sung live, as a concert opener ... its brilliant. I'm so hoping for a single the calibre of Patience ... but I doubt it will be somehow! And ... as much as I've gone off Take That to a certain extent ... I'm still going to fight like hell for a ticket to one of their shows ... because they are quite simply 'the best'. Kath
September 28, 201014 yr Author Nooo. 'Greatest Day' is one of my favourite TT singles. 'Patience', 'Shine' and 'Up All Night' are vile and I will never get the hype for those three songs. I used to think the same about 'Rule The World' but i've slightly warmed to that. Give me 'Greatest Day', 'I'd Wait For Life' and 'The Garden' over them any day
