Suede have unveiled the tracklisting of a new two-disc best-of compilation.

The first disc features all of the bands singles as featured on 2003's Singles with the exception of A New Morning's 'Positivity' and standalone single 'Attitude', which are excised.

Disc two features B-Sides and album tracks, with the final four songs being those that close 1994's Dog Man Star.

The compilation, which has been remastered by Chris Potter, is released on November 1. Suede play London's O2 on December 7.

The full tracklisting of The Best Of is as follows:

Disc One:

'Animal Nitrate'

'Beautiful Ones'

'Trash'

'Filmstar'

'Metal Mickey'

'New Generation'

'So Young'

'Wild Ones'

'Drowners'

'Stay Together'

'Lazy'

'Everything Will Flow'

'We Are The Pigs'

'Can't Get Enough'

'Electricity'

'Obsessions'

'She's In Fashion'

'Saturday Night'

Disc Two:

'Pantomime Horse'

'My Insatiable One'

'Killing Of A Flashboy'

'This Hollywood Life'

'Europe Is Our Playground'

'My Dark Star'

'Sleeping Pills'

'By The Sea'

'She'

'Heroine'

'The Living Dead'

'To The Birds'

'The Big Time'

'The Two Of Us'

'Asphalt World'

'Still Life'

'The Next Life'

In all honesty, I'm disappointed at the tracklisting here. The first disk reads like their first Greatest Hits bar Positivity, Attitude and the seldom heard Love the Way You Love (the latter two being new additions added to give die hard fans a reason to buy it). The 2nd disk is a nice addition for people looking to get more deeple into Suede, but for pre-existing fans like myself there's nothing there that I haven't already acquired via their albums & Sci-Fi Lullabies. No new tracks either is a big downer.

Also, the writer of the article made an error in asserting that the last 4 songs on disk 2 are the last ones from Dog Man Star, as everybody knows that 'The Next Life' closes their self titled debut.

I'm quite happy with the track listing. I hate when a band add a new track as some sort of incentive. It's not really a best of if a new track has been added that hasn't stood the test of time.

CD 2 is much better than CD 1 in my opinion

I'm guessing that it's the single version of Stay Together - in which case I'll be disappointed. I wont be buying it as I could make it myself.

- on a side note - the Manics must be due one of these now that Blur, Oasis and Suede have done it.

Love them

I would've loved to have a Best Of where songs had been placed chronologically. In Suede's case it would've been a good choice because their back catalogue is so strong (singles at least) from start to their break-up

However, Blur did it this way and it worked very well

I have their studio albums from Suede to Head Music. Should I buy A New Morning (I think no) and Sci-Fi Lullabies (I think yes)?

You've answered your own questions perfectly. Sci-Fi Lullabies Disc 1 is superior to Coming Up and Headmusic in my opinion and CD 2 has some great stuff on it. An essential purchase and the best b-sides album I own.

Unless you can see A New Morning very very cheap don't bother unless you are one of those people who like to have everything by a band.

Of the two Sci-Fi Lullabies is better although I still love both of them. But then I am a little biased :D

They should've left Positivity and Attitude on the first disc and kept it all chronological
If they kept it Chronological then one disc would have been enough.

Oooh harsh. Although I kind of agree

Now that Peter Savile's back into sleeve designs (check out the gorgeous new OMD album artwork), I hope he'll be designing the cover for this - his work on 'Coming Up' was beautiful - my favourite ever album cover.

Coming Up is indeed fantastic - it's my favourite album ever, and the design is fantastic, although the design for the Best of is by Elizabeth Peyton.

In regards to A New Morning, it has it's moments (Lost In TV, Lonely Girls, Positivity), but as a full album it falls down monunentally. Brett Anderson said that the song 'Positivity' destroyed Suede the first time around, so I can see why he left it off this re-issue.

I must say I'm a triffle curious to hear how the 'Suede' singles sound remastered. As much as I love it, I feel that Metal Mickey is let down by the lo-fi production. As long as it still sounds primal and not too shiny I'll be happy.

I always found the cover of Coming Up to be tacky and not in a good way like Different Class or His and Hers. The DMS cover was much better.

I also will not be buying unless it contains the full version of Stay Together. Even if it does, it'll probably be about £4 in 2 months so I may hold out regardless.

I agree that it should be chronological, a re-hash of their previous singles collection is a tad lame.

You know, I'd much rather have each album expanded with a second disc of b-sides and rareties - no live stuff.

DMS would be so cool if the complete Stay Together ep was added.

Me too Tony, that would be an excellent idea. I'd kill for a remaster of their complete earlier work. Well, maybe not kill, just maim.

Very few acts actually manage to get their back catalogue treated with the respect they often deserve. I've been impressed with the Depeche Mode and (especially) Pet Shop Boys re-issues but few others have lived up to expectation.

edit - actually the Manics re-issues were quite good too.

Well the re-issue of The Holy Bible (US Mix) moved it to my favourite album of all time but the lack of b-sides was a slight disappointment.

I do understand that there were no b-sides available anyway.

I liked the New Order ones too but I hear that a lot of stuff was missing.

I actually quite liked A New Morning, better than both Coming Up and Head Music which were pretty horrible.

Anyone looking to get Suede's best stuff need really only buy Suede, Dog Man Star and Sci-Fi Lullabies (at a push).

But you can't disagree that Electricity and Everything Will Flow are great songs, can you?

It's interesting that when it comes to more indie acts, the more people judge them by their albums.

I can't think of any band that has just wonderful albums without any flaws somewhere. Pet Shop Boys are very close but even their albums Very, Nightlife and Release lack something essential imo. And the longer you make music the more likely you'll release a bad album at some point. Bands and artists should be allowed to make mistakes.

That doesn't mean they can't have wonderful songs on each album. My favourite songs by Belle and Sebastian have been released on ep's and on Fold Your Hands Child... (I Fought in a War, Waiting for the Moon to Rise) which is almost horrible album by their standards. I never listen to the album from start to finish.
