My 20c worth:

01.B*Witched - Rollercoaster - My Mum bought me this single - loved it then. A nice happy pop tune!

02.The Beautiful South - Perfect 10 - Overplayed, and not their best track. I always thought it was "we love Allah in different sizes"

03.Lauryn Hill - Doo Wop (That Thing) - What happened to her? Fantastic song and voice.

04.Melanie B Featuring Missy 'Misdemeanor' Elliott - I Want You Back - One of two solo efforts from Miss Brown I like.

05.T-Spoon - Sex On The Beach - Nah :puke2:

06.Robbie Williams - Millennium - It's allright.

07.Aerosmith - I Don't Want To Miss A Thing - One of the few fake emotion plastic ballads from that year from a crap topselling movie. No way.

08.The Honeyz - Finally Found - Beautiful pop ballad

09.Boyzone - No Matter What - Meh.

10.Steps - One For Sorrow - This is decent :)

11.Jennifer Paige - Crush - Good song.

12.Savage Garden - To The Moon And Back {1998} -

13.Stardust - Music Sounds Better With You - Still fresh twelve years on

14.Dee-Tah - Relax - This was decent.

16.Lutricia McNeal - Someone Loves You Honey - I was a fan of this lady back then :) No "Stranded" or "Ain't that just the way" but a good cover of a reggae tune.

18.Sarah McLachlan - Adia - Beautiful

19.Alisha's Attic - The Incidentals - Decent.

22.Five - Everybody Get Up- :arrr:

24.All Saints - Bootie Call - Didn't this fall from #1 to #9? It's allright, though I had no idea what they were singing about until I was 15/16! (I was 14 then)

25.Sweetbox - Everything's Gonna Be Alright - Beautiful sample used for this song. Shame these were 1-hit wonders.

26.Manic Street Preachers - If You Tolerate This Your Children Will Be Next -

30.The Corrs - What Can I Do - Meh

32.Sash! Featuring Tina Cousins - Mysterious Times - Great dance tune :) ut

35.R Kelly - Half On A Baby - Don't want to know it, but the title sounds sick! p****.

39.Brandy And Monica - The Boy Is Mine - This was everywhere!

41.Leann Rimes - How Do I Live - As was this

42.Pras Michel Featuring ODB And Mya - Ghetto Supastar (That Is What You Are) - and this.

43.The Divine Comedy - Generation Sex - Funny and witty. Perhaps one of the best songs in that chart :)

44.Alda - Real Good Time - Great pop tune!

47.Spice Girls - Viva Forever - CLASSIC!!!!

57.Another Level - Freak Me - Cringey :puke2:

59.B*Witched - C'est La Vie - Catchy and fun.

60.Simply Red - The Air That I Breathe - Bad cover.

64.Cleopatra - I Want You Back - Decent cover.

66.Madonna - Drowned World (Substitute For Love) - Very mysterious Madonna song. I like this :)

68.Tin Tin Out Featuring Shelley Nelson - Sometimes - Pleasent.

69.Ace Of Base - Life Is A Flower - Pleasent summer tune :)

74.Jamiroquai - Deeper Underground - Nah.

75.Celine Dion With The Bee Gees - Immortality - PAIN!!!!

That is an absolutely appalling chart. The top 10 holds no interest for me at all. And it contains bloody Millennium.

And only like these 6 from the other 65 songs in the chart.

15.Ash - Jesus Says

26.Manic Street Preachers - If You Tolerate This Your Children Will Be Next

39.Brandy And Monica - The Boy Is Mine

49.Hole - Celebrity Skin

52.Silver Sun - I'll See You Around

73.Apollo 440 - Lost In Space

I liked these:

02.The Beautiful South - Perfect 10

03.Lauryn Hill - Doo Wop (That Thing)

13.Stardust - Music Sounds Better With You

17.Nalin And Kane - Beachball {1998}

49.Hole - Celebrity Skin

55.PJ Harvey - A Perfect Day Elise

61.Depeche Mode - Only When I Lose Myself

66.Madonna - Drowned World (Substitute For Love)

72.David Morales Presents The Face - Needin' U

OOH classic.

This era was when I started to get into music, so HUGE nostalgia value. QUEEN DEETAH

And oh for the time when The Corrs could score a hit :(

I think this was the week Nalin & Kane entered - genuinely one of the the best dance tracks of all-time. Euphoric AND chilled at the same time. Other favourites; Honeyz, Beautiful South, Republica, Alda (I KNOW), Sash!, Brandy & Monica, Sheryl Crow, Madge, Ace Of Base, Pras Michel... JOYOUS.

my views on it;

01.B*Witched - Rollercoaster

02.The Beautiful South - Perfect 10

03.Lauryn Hill - Doo Wop (That Thing)

06.Robbie Williams - Millennium

07.Aerosmith - I Don't Want To Miss A Thing

08.The Honeyz - Finally Found

09.Boyzone - No Matter What

10.Steps - One For Sorrow

11.Jennifer Paige - Crush

12.Savage Garden - To The Moon And Back {1998}

13.Stardust - Music Sounds Better With You

16.Lutricia McNeal - Someone Loves You Honey

------------------------------------------ The entire section above the line hold memories for me. Seriously great collection of songs  I doubt 1998 will be beaten for me

17.Nalin And Kane - Beachball {1998}

18.Sarah McLachlan - Adia Beautiful song

19.Alisha's Attic - The Incidentals Underrated, one of four singles they should have scored a top ten hit with, the others being Alisha Rules The World, I Am, I Feel and Push It All Aside

20.Republica - From Rush Hour With Love

25.Sweetbox - Everything's Gonna Be Alright

26.Manic Street Preachers - If You Tolerate This Your Children Will Be Next

30.The Corrs - What Can I Do

32.Sash! Featuring Tina Cousins - Mysterious Times

39.Brandy And Monica - The Boy Is Mine

41.Leann Rimes - How Do I Live

42.Pras Michel Featuring ODB And Mya - Ghetto Supastar (That Is What You Are)

44.Alda - Real Good Time A classic

47.Spice Girls - Viva Forever

59.B*Witched - C'est La Vie

60.Simply Red - The Air That I Breathe I didn't mind his 1998 material but everyone else seems to have forgotten it exists

66.Madonna - Drowned World (Substitute For Love)

68.Tin Tin Out Featuring Shelley Nelson - Sometimes

69.Ace Of Base - Life Is A Flower :D brilliant, I heard it in the supermarket whilst shopping the other day and was very pleased!

72.David Morales Presents The Face - Needin' U

73.Apollo 440 - Lost In Space

74.Jamiroquai - Deeper Underground

75.Celine Dion With The Bee Gees - Immortality I didn't think this was too bad considering

I'm gonna list the songs from this chart I still listen to if they're ever played on the music channels:

02.The Beautiful South - Perfect 10

03.Lauryn Hill - Doo Wop (That Thing)

07.Aerosmith - I Don't Want To Miss A Thing

09.Boyzone - No Matter What

26.Manic Street Preachers - If You Tolerate This Your Children Will Be Next

32.Sash! Featuring Tina Cousins - Mysterious Times

39.Brandy And Monica - The Boy Is Mine

42.Pras Michel Featuring ODB And Mya - Ghetto Supastar (That Is What You Are)

59.B*Witched - C'est La Vie ( :D )

69.Ace Of Base - Life Is A Flower

For me, these are the genuine classics (yes, including 'C'est La Vie') from this particular chart.

1998 is never one of fond memories, the music was uninspiring and this top ten is probably the worse I have ever seen posted on this forum yet! There are a few hidden gems further down though...

01.B*Witched - Rollercoaster Truly terrible girl band, glad they were short lived! :puke2:

02.The Beautiful South - Perfect 10 Not National Treasures as they often get tagged, plain bloody irritating and this was amongst the worse!

03.Lauryn Hill - Doo Wop (That Thing) Didn't like Fugees, but this was a great soul track!

04.Melanie B Featuring Missy 'Misdemeanor' Elliott - I Want You Back Missy is ace, but this was indeed terrible.

05.T-Spoon - Sex On The Beach Errrr... no!

06.Robbie Williams - Millennium Oh f*** off!

07.Aerosmith - I Don't Want To Miss A Thing Another song I hated! From an equally terrible film.

08.The Honeyz - Finally Found Rubbish

09.Boyzone - No Matter What Undisputed tosh

10.Steps - One For Sorrow Oh god could this chart get ANY worse????

Thank god for THAT!!! And of the rest, I like:

13.Stardust - Music Sounds Better With You Still sounds fresh 12 years on, this reshaped house music completely.

17.Nalin And Kane - Beachball {1998} Ibiza anthem, mixed loads of times, but the original is still the best

27.Faithless - God Is A DJ Not their best, but still a decent track!

31.Deep Dish With Everything But The Girl - The Future Of The Future (Stay Gold) Gorgeous track with nice subtle vocal from EBTG singer

32.Sash! Featuring Tina Cousins - Mysterious Times Now Sash! made predominantly terrible tracks, but this was passable

34.Cevin Fisher's Big Break - The Freaks Come Out Donna Summeresq house jam!

38.Golden Girls - Kinetic Absolute TUNE!

39.Brandy And Monica - The Boy Is Mine Overplayed, but still like this

66.Madonna - Drowned World (Substitute For Love) Sublime track from one of my favorite albums of all time

72.David Morales Presents The Face - Needin' U One of me all time favorite house tracks, that PIANO!!

No Stardust Hits? :o

I accept it's a "classic" but I've never liked it. :( Same with Modjo 'Lady' in 2000 and Phatts & Small 'Turn Around' in 1999. Just never understood the hype surrounding these songs.

I'd much rather listen to 'Starlight' by Supermen Lovers to be honest.

Oh, Modjo and Phatts and Small were both terrible tracks but Stardust is in a different league for me.

I do like that Supermen Lovers song though, may have to dig it out and give it a listen now as you've reminded me of it. ^_^

...doh!!! I apologize for mentioing a song from 2001. :kink: I'm aware the forum is supposed to be strictly pre-2000 only. ^_^

I actually preferred the Stardust / Lovestation "Teardrops" mash-up. Having actual proper vocals helped the track reach it's FULL potential in my eyes. GLORIOUS.

Hmmmm, that's not a bad mash up actually - the way MSBWY works with so many different mash ups is testament to how great the original track is in my opinion.
2 dance classics in there - Golden Girls' sublime 'Kinetic' and Stardust - and a relly great Depeche single - otherwise, the worst chart I've ever seen on the retro page - truly abysmal.
