Thanks Dre, I guess the way I feel about Promise This is the same as you feel about Only Girl - we don't understand why the other loves them so much  I love my BJUSC entry, could be #1 next week but we'll see...glad Cee-Lo's finally growing on you, it's a pretty great song and worthy UK #1. The Sats aren't dropping because I'm bored of it per se, but because the top 4 was very strong and defined this week. I really like Pretty Girl Rock, it has a melody that has just clicked with me - Keri singles are either big hits or big misses with me generally, looks like this will be the former. Not sure if Deja Vu will go top 20 for me but I do like it more than Amazing personally.

Hey! :D

1. Cheryl Cole - Promise This (2) (CR-8-3-2-1) Woop! :D I really hope it'll be a big hit here, cos I've not actually heard it anywhere (or people talking about it), apart from on my iPod. :( Plus the Airplay chart doesn't help. :(

3. Cee-Lo Green - f*** You (7) (CR-16-8-7-3)

4. Alexis Jordan - Happiness (5) (CR-14-5-4)

5. The Saturdays - Higher (1) (CR-10-8-5-8-11-15-1-1-5)

7. Nadine Coyle - Insatiable (3) (CR-1-2-3-7)

8. Swedish House Mafia vs. Tinie Tempah - Miami 2 Ibiza (17) (CR-17-8)

10. Mike Posner - Cooler Than Me (Re-entry) (CR-17-OUT-10)

14. Far East Movement feat Cataracs & Dev - Like A G6 (NEW) (CR-14) I've only heard this once, but it sounded good. :) It will probably be huge for a month in the UK, then bomb down the chart.

15. Robbie Williams & Gary Barlow - Shame (11) (CR-6-1-3-5-10-11-15)

16. Tinie Tempah feat Ellie Goulding - Wonderman (NEW) (CR-16) This is probably the best single choice, but it pales in comparison to 'Written In The Stars' unfortunately. :( Apparantly Kelly Rowland is the 6th(!) single !

17. Roll Deep feat Alesha Dixon - Take Control (20) (CR-20-17)

20. Keri Hilson - Pretty Girl Rock (NEW) (CR-20) This was alright, it sounded quite autotuned though iirc. I doubt it'll get very high on my chart, which is a shame after 'I Like''s dominance. :(

Good chart. ^_^

Edited by Theо

Hey GD :D Ooh, didn't realise you had decided to compile a top 20. :o Anyways, here's some comments on certain tracks:

1. Cheryl Cole - Promise This (2) (CR-8-3-2-1)

Overtaking Nadine!!! :drama: I've seen the video for this loads all week and as it goes, the song itself doesn't seem as much of a mess as I thought a couple of weeks back. Still much prefer 'Insatiable' as it sounds more like a proper British pop song compared to 'Promise This' which sounds like 2010 - which means the latter will probably sound dated and awkward in 2012.

2. BJUSC XXIX artist - BJUSC XXIX entry (NEW) (CR-2)

A first where the anonymity of tracks from BJSC means you can't even reveal your own entry in your personal chart.

3. Cee-Lo Green - f*** You (7) (CR-16-8-7-3)

Yay!!! :D After loads of non-no. 1 hits throughout 2010 in the UK, we finally get a no. 1 smash and truly deserves all the success it can get. Cee Lo will hopefully get decent first week sales and maintain this over the coming weeks.

4. Alexis Jordan - Happiness (5) (CR-14-5-4)

The America's Got Talent girl done good. :D Hope this does well, even low top 10 would be nice. Think this is a cracking track with lush vocals/harmonies and then there's the Deadmou5 backing track. I sadly wouldn't be surprised if this was to limp in at #39 only to never be seen again and quickly removed from all music channel playlists. :(

5. The Saturdays - Higher (1) (CR-10-8-5-8-11-15-1-1-5)

I'm really surprised this has stalled on iTunes. After the video premiered, I honestly expected this to shoot up into the top 10 but it looks like low top 20 is going to be the best this song can get. It's sacrilege to think that the horrendous 'Forever Is Over' will always be regarded as one of their highest charting singles when it's easily their worst.

7. Nadine Coyle - Insatiable (3) (CR-1-2-3-7)

Poor Nadine, it started off so well but maybe the hype and excitement of a debut Nadine solo single has now worn off so this explains the sudden drop. Hope 'Insatiable' somehow manages to recover - maybe in its release week when Nadine is heading for #1. :kink: Well, nothing is set in stone but I do like this a lot.

8. Swedish House Mafia vs. Tinie Tempah - Miami 2 Ibiza (17) (CR-17-8)

I've been making a big deal over how this sounds just like 'One (Your Name)' but like 'Promise This', I've also seen the video to this quite a lot during the week. It's grown on me loads - not that I disliked it in the first place, I just had that comparison niggle.

10. Mike Posner - Cooler Than Me (Re-entry) (CR-17-OUT-10)

Thanks to The X Factor, 'Cooler Than Me' was released last Sunday. No point in saying it's released in November anymore - if the record company are still releasing this on cd, they might as well just bring the release date forward to either Monday (11th) or at best (18th) whilst the song is at the peak of its popularity. I don't see the song being popular enough in 5 weeks time to warrant a physical release. Would be a complete and utter waste of money because the record company messed up the timing.

15. Robbie Williams & Gary Barlow - Shame (11) (CR-6-1-3-5-10-11-15)

Still like 'Shame' but again I genuinely think the record company missed a trick. When this track premiered, there was an initial buzz on the news/video channels/radio stations surrounding this song. I'm convinced if 'Shame' had been released three weeks ago it would have gone to no. 1 (ie; the week when 'Start Without You' was no. 1 for its second week ;) ) as the track was more fresh and new. By delaying its release by an extra three weeks, there's probably people who would've bought this 3 weeks ago who haven't bothered because they're now bored of the song. The UK public are fickle minded and record companies should always take this into account. :D

17. Roll Deep feat Alesha Dixon - Take Control (20) (CR-20-17)

Possibly their best single? 'Good Times' was a great track; upbeat, uplifting and anthemic. Even though I've not listened to this much (the Radio 1 rip is embarrassing) I already think this is ace and deserves to be a big hit. At this moment in time, I still prefer Nadine's 'Insatiable' though. Apparantly they're released in the same week.

19. Tim Berg - Bromance (Re-entry) (CR-20-OUT-19)

Great to see this re-entering. As an instrumental, I think this is a fantastic club hit. I've seen the new version 'Seek Bromance' a couple of times but I much prefer the original. Will be a hit in my chart too in the coming weeks.

Hello again Rich! ^_^

Hey Theo, agreed about Cheryl, no hype at all around the song :( It won't be a big seller I don't think, even if it does get to #1. Written In The Stars is very anthemic, but Wonderman is very charming and I personally prefer it.

Thanks Hits. Yep, I had to reduce the chart due to time constraints  Insatiable got a bit boring quite quickly whereas Promise This has just grown and grown on me. Still love them both though, although I'd be surprised if she managed to get to #1 with it, isn't it only being sold in Tesco or something!?! I don't know if this applies to the download too though  F*ck You is a great song and will hopefully be one of 2010's classic - it's one of those that just appeals to everyone (with common sense). I have no idea why Higher has stalled, it's such a great song - agreed, Forever Is Over was utter crap, can't believe it got to #2! Yeah I agree with you there, Shame was left wayyyy too late - and yet another #2 for Robbie - he hasn't had a #1 since 2004 and the awful Radio! I don't think Take Control is their best single, but they're contending with two songs that are riding high in my YTD chart! It is incredibly good though and will almost certainly go top ten for me :D Agreed, Seek Bromance is so much weaker than the original, hence me charting the instrumental! I remember Mason's Exceeder got to #3 on my chart in October 2006 as an instrumental but I added the vocal version onto its chart run because I liked it even more than the original in that case!

Hello again Rich! ^_^

Thanks Freeze, glad you like quite a few there, and of course made a load of discoveries. I hope you like my BJSC entry, I think you might - but I can't obviously tell you what it is right now :kink: I agree about Roll Deep, although the song will still do very well for me. Future top ten at least!

Your #2 has an interesting name ; ).

You choose the right Cheryl song to chart highest, being her most bearable ; P.

Like Sats new single, shame it wasn't lead for the EP.

:D

Thanks Jamie :D

Agreed, Higher could have been a #1 for the girls as a lead single considering Missing You almost was :o

Thanks Ghosty :D

1. It's a great song, maybe my favourite of hers but as you know, I do tend to love everything Cheryl touches  It's so infectious though

2. Well I like it, hopefully you will too but I'm not sure. We'll soon see I guess :o

Caro's album is very good, the first 4 tracks in particular! Clare I believe is the new Florence or something like that, UK female singer, a bit 'out there'. I like Eric's new song, it's typically him - the vocal could be better though, or better still left as an instrumental like Pjanoo. I thought you'd like Little Marbles, very charming song, and instantly catchy too considering it's in Swedish! Vincent's new song is 'quite good' but don't expect a masterpiece because it's no Miss Blue.

01 - Infectious is a good word to describe it. Easily my favouite song of hers. Hope the album is as good.

Ahh, so maybe Clare is going to top the BBC Sound of 2011 poll then? :kink: . I can't see many big upcoming acts at the moment. I'm hoping Caro will take off in similar style to KT Tunstall when A Night Like This gets released next year, but apart from her I'm not sure who'll be big next year. That's a shame about the Vincent track - I'll still check it out, but Miss Blue and This Is For You were amazing songs!

1. Same. I did like the last album quite a bit but the signs are pointing to the new one being better :D

It wouldn't surprise me at all to be honest. She's heading that way - I'd love Caro to be on the list but I can't see it happening - Dutch Jazz? Not exactly the usual sort of thing popular in the UK  :( Other tips for 2011 from me are Ed Sheeran, Le Kid (I can dream!) and Far East Movement.

Yes, I'd forgotten about This Is For You - also very good! His last album was only ok though I thought, besides those two songs.

Caro's going down well in work (I've made a CD of random female pop songs), I've seen a couple of people tapping their feet to A Night Like This  . Graziella Schazad's version of Take On Me seems to also be popular with customers - people humming along to it. Could be a one hit wonder if given a chance here?

I've seen Far East Movement in a few charts but haven't heard anything by them. Le Kid are a bit too similar to Alphabeat I think, but who knows! The Good Natured could take off next year maybe also?

I won't bother with Vincent's album then

Excellent, A Night Like This is definitely a very classy and likeable song. It did a lot better than I expected in BJSC actually. I wondered if it would be too mature for the contest and it was expected to come bottom five by most but it ended up 12th which was pretty great I thought! Yeah, that's definitely the sort of thing that would catch on if it featured in an advert - like Jungle Drum could have been :drama:

They're a dance/rap act from the US. I'm not sure that you'll be particularly won over by them but Like A G6 is a certain smash, if a bit chavvy to put it mildly. I guess I agree with you there about Le Kid, I just love We Should Go Home Together so much, it's blind faith! Yeah perhaps! I think it will be another year of unknowns coming from nowhere to be honest - I don't even recall seeing Tinie Tempah on any sound of 2010 lists and he's had 4 top 5 singles and a #1 album!

A Night Like This won The Countdown a few months back too, beating my entry by one point  . I definitely think it could be huge if given good promotion. Jungle Drum too could still be a hit with the right backing - it is unlikely they'll bother now though sadly :(

Oh, they are certain to be huge then :kink: . It probably will be a year of surprises, yeah. Most of the hyped artists for this year under-performed.

Well yeah, it's a bit old now :( Although...if somebody sang it on X Factor you never know! But the chances of that are nil. Still, the chances of the finalists singing a cover of the Hermes House Band version of Rhythm of the Night, or 1 Direction singing Darin's version of Viva La Vida were even lower, but that still happened...

Haha yeah, chav music = big sales! The BBC lists tend to push indie/indie pop every year mostly, and indie's been completely out of vogue this year so no wonder very few of the acts did well. I'd love a return for Europop but in reality it will probably just be another year of forgettable chav rap and US urban dominating the charts - what's new there then!

It would be great if the X Factor finalists decided to sing unknown songs every week. A Eurovision week would be amazing!

There hasn't been much indie floating about this year at all actually :o . The XX obviously have had success recently, but I don't recall them being on many "ones to watch" lists  . A return of Europop would be amazing, but really unlikely. We might get one or two smashes though.

Agreed  Never going to happen though :( I expect it will soon revert back to Mariah week/Whitney week etc...:drama:

I know, it's bizarre, it's just not doing well at all...The XX's album came out last year so everyone thought that they'd been and gone but the album got a boost out of nowhere in the last few months and obviously winning the Mercury helped them along too! Yeah, we should be thankful that we get the odd song every now and then that smashes from the genre, I was so elated when Release Me became big here  definitely one of the finer examples of Scandipop, thank god we showed good taste getting that top the top 3!

Probably :drama: And the inevitable big band week is probably just around the corner :(

Oh right, fair enough. It is great to get the odd smash hit. Release Me's success was fabulous, and Edward Maya and Inna this year has helped keep euromusic alive in this country just about. As much as I disliked it, it was a shame Stromae didn't do very well here - I wished it to do good so we could see a wave of foreign language releases here. That probably won't happen now sadly :(
