If anything I think that this will make them want to pull it out of the bag more. Xfactor is the most important part of their promotion of this album along with the documentary. Just downloaded Progress so going to make a cuppa and have a good listen. So far really like Wait aswell as SOS and Kidz.

For any artist of course the x factor is an important performance but i think any artist will always TRY and deliver their best performance no matter what the size of the audience is,at the end of the day that is their profession.

Of course its gonna take time for them as 5 peice to get totally used to it again as they have all changed dramitically since they last toured together and it will be a huge learning curve and no doubt performances towards the end of the tour may be slighty better than those at the beginning as they will gelled together more and got more used of it aswell.

Im sure the fact that take that are performing on the same bill as jls and westlife will also add fire to there bellies to pull of a great performance but i honetsly think there is more pressure on westlife and jls as they look at take that as the daddys of the boyband world and they know how huge take that are so its a crucial performance for those bands aswell.

Anyhow onto some positive talking i got my copy of progress and have listened to it this evening, on first listen its better than beautiful world although there isnt as anything as pateince or shine but im not sure if it will be as good as the circus for me as i just adore that album. Again i cant give a full judgement on the album but im loving eight letters and pretty things so far they are the stand out 2 for me but i also really like under ground machine but if it makes sense i like it in a weird sort of way.

I will have another listen to the album tomorrow when i get some time but im first listen im quite happy with the album and i dont think many fans will be disapointed.

Yeah I must say I have hardly heard The Flood at all on Irish radio. I wonder what number it is on our airplay charts? I have heard Shame far more often and that is saying something

I have to say the same i havent heard it much on irish radio at all and shame definitly seemes to have got far bigger airplay than the flood has done.

Juat noticed that progress is number 1 and 3 on Irish Itunes. I know that most people buy albums in CD rather than digital form but I think it's a good sign. Just listened to a few of the songs a few more times and I really love Wait and Kidz .

Im not sure where the album will enter, as robbies last 3 albums havent made number 1 in Ireland plus neither beautiful world nor the circus made a number 1 debut both take that albums made number 1 a few weeks after release, so it will be interesting to see where it debuts next friday although the signs are looking good going by itunes downloads.

That's true both BW and TC only went to number 1 after they had performed on the Late Late Show and Tubridy Tonight. I got an email from TTO saying that they hoped to make an appearance in Ireland so fingers crossed that they do this. I have to say that there are some very catchy tunes on this album. I know that you love TC and I do really like it but so far I'm preferring Progress to TC.

I think I may go and buy the new album on Monday. By all accounts ... I think I'm going to like it much more than TC, which for me ... didn't know which way it wanted to go ... maybe Rob has given them a direction. I also think Gary working with different acts lately (Santos, N-Dubz) has made him want to 'extend' himself ... and Rob has helped here too (after Gary had the basic melodies sorted). I may even like it as much as BW ... for totally opposing reasons.

There has to be a happy medium with airplay but it has to be said that getting very little airplay does not help at all

Yes gary working with robbie agian will definitly boraden his horizons as in a song writer and probably help him become even more creative. I always find with take that albums (all previous 5 studio albums) that they take time to fully grow on me. I remember dying to get my hand son beautiful world as pateince was a bloody fantastic return and then i heard shine aswell which really made me eager to buy the album and on first listen i was disapointed in some ways that there was nothing else like shine on the album but as time went on i really got into the album.

With the circus it was slightly different as although i liked greatest day i didnt love it and i also though right beautiful was brilliant so it wont be as good and when i listened to the album i was thrilled as greatest day to me was and is still one of the waekest songs on the album.

With progress i bought with a more open mind, i love the flood but not as much as rule the world, shine, up all night and patience and i knew with robbie on board it would be a different album so i was pleasantly surprised with the final result apart from the abslutly dreadful cover for the album!!!

Take That havnt always made the best single choices but i can happily say they have yet to disapoint with with a studio album they have always delivered albums that i feel are well worth their money and thankfully progress hasnt broken that mould.

People are forgetting that Rule the World was the lead single from a re-released album. A lot of people wouldn't bother with the re-issue, but got the single as a one-off download. That and the song being featured in a film, and used in high profile tv shows, from background in X Factor, to being covered on Last Choir Standing and skated to on Dancing on Ice, all keeping the song alive. The Flood is a good song, and probably did deserve to be number one, but for most people it's part of an album they'll buy anyway, and I'm not sure if it will be able to have a life of its own after official promotion has ended.

Good point! I downloaded RTW back then but since I've bought Progress I would never download The Flood a week sooner. The 5 of them are too rich and greedy to waste your money on! :teresa:

No, it's not. RTW had consistency, The Flood hasn't (it fell to #9 on Thursday!). RTW was "the #1 that never was" while TF is going to be "the frontloaded #2 with quite a dire chart-run". I can easily say that Take That will benefit because a lot of JLS fans will be watching the XF too - but I won't, as we can't know and even estimate anything in this sphere.

I do find it funny that you say that the TF will have a dire chart run. What sort of chart run do you think it will have? I can see it spending a few weeks in the 10 before sliding down the charts, hardly dire.

Exactly, a very fair comment. But you must remember most people here have an agenda and Take That arent Rihanna, Lady Gaga, Katy Perry or Cheryl Cole, therefore their song is rubbish and they dont deserve a hit.

Dennis, I can see 'The Flood' spending two, at very most - 3 weeks in the top-10, and only just because of huge promo (documenatry, XF, CIN) and album cherry-pickings. I like the song, just that slide to #9 last Thursday says it all really.

It just sounded to me you were discrediting The Flood despite their being several reasons why it isnt going to match RTW.

First of all,The Flood felt then went up again as far as i am aware.

Secondary, only time will tell whether it's going to have a "dire" chart run or not. Me personally think the song is fantastic enough to stick around for quite some time.

Find it strange all the comparisons between Rule The World and The Flood. For a start Rule The World was a phenomenal song and had incredible exposure in that chart period across TV, radio, cinema, on tour etc.

It's also worth remembering it's first week sales were 97.8k which were astonishing back in 2007. In fact ignoring Leon Jackson's X Factor winner's single which was #1 for the last two weeks of the year, and the first week of The Proclaimers charity record for Comic Relief, it's sales were *easily* good enough for the #1 spot in 49 of the 52 chart weeks against normal single releases.

The only thing in their way was Leona's Bleeding Love juggernaut - but then Bleeding Love did the same all over the world to numerous artists and singles. Take That were just unluckly to come up against one of the decade's biggest releases - and for that bad luck they could maybe blame Universal who changed the date of release to put it in direct competition with Leona.

Compared to all that The Flood is just a nice song - nothing to write home about and as such can;t see the fuss with its perceived underperformance.

Has anyone actually thought that the flood is actually quite bland and thats why it is not at number 1.

Being bland hasn't stopped songs from reaching #1 in the past. I'm not even a fan and I think it's a great song.

I dont think the flood is bland either and the chorus is especially great. Number 2 is good though yes number 1 would have been nicer but it wasnt meant to be. Interestingly this is only take thats 3rd number 2 hit to date, the other 2 being why cant i wake up with you and the ever fantastic rule the world.

NO discussion about the big massive XF performance? :o

I have to say it was only when I replayed it during the adverts that I was able to enjoy it. When watching it live I was bloody nervous for Rob. He seemed a little shaky to begin with and you could tell how nervous he was but as the song progressed and the others joined in he relaxed and it turned into a very good performance I though. A little too much standing at the mics for half though imo.
