Gay Star News:

Director Dexter Fletcher has said he would be up for shooting a film about Madonna’s life.

Of course, the filmmaker already has a track record for rock biopics.

As well as this month’s Rocketman, which details the life of Elton John, he directed part of last year’s blockbuster Queen/Freddie Mercury picture, Bohemian Rhapsody.

We spoke to Dexter last month ahead of the London premiere of Rocketman earlier this month, and asked him: ‘Would you consider a return to the rock biopic genre – and would you please do Madonna or Cher’?

‘If I was to tackle any other icon…’

Dexter replied: ‘I’d do Madonna! That sounds like a real rollercoaster ride! It would be extraordinary.’

Asked if thought of a film on the Material Girl’s life had occurred to him before, he said: ‘No… no it hasn’t. I don’t know how happy she’d be about that [idea]… But what an extraordinary life that would be.

‘If I was to tackle any other icon like that, it would be her. She’s extraordinary.’

‘Nobody knows what I know’

Reports circulated in 2017 that a Universal biopic of Madonna called Blonde Ambition was in the works.

Madonna, who returns in 2019 with new album Madame X, seemingly addressed the rumors on Instagram at the time.

She wrote: ‘Nobody knows what I know and what I have seen. Only I can tell my story. Anyone else who tries is a charlatan and a fool. Looking for instant gratification without doing the work. This is a disease in our society.’

Rocketman is out now in UK cinemas and hits US screens on Friday 31 May.

The movie, which stars Taron Egerton, Richard Madden and Bryce Dallas Howard, has scored highly positive reviews.

I'd absolutely love a major Madonna biopic. Obviously she'd have to be heavily involved like Queen and Elton were for their respective films, but it would be such an interesting watch and it would be incredible to see Madonna's music at the forefront of the public's consciousness again.

OCC:

Rihanna has been named the richest woman in music.

Despite not releasing a studio album since Anti in January 2016, the Barbadian singer is the leading musician on Forbes' America’s newly-unveiled Richest Self-Made Women list.

Rihanna is worth an estimated $600 million (£471m), ranking her 37th on the overall rundown but first when it comes to the popstars included. Riri's earnings are up substantially from the $210m her empire was valued at in a Celebrity 100 rich list published by Forbes last July.

Rihanna's net worth has skyrocketed thanks to the success of her Fenty Beauty make-up range. The nine-time UK chart topper also expanded into the fashion world with her Fenty lingerie line in May 2018, and opened a new Paris-based fashion house last month.

Elsewhere on the list Madonna ranks second on $570m. As one of the pioneering forces in pop music for over 30 years, the Queen of Pop is releasing her new studio album Madame X on June 14.

Celine Dion is next, estimated to be worth around $450m. Forbes reports that Celine has made a whopping $400 million since 2003 from performances in Las Vegas alone. The Canadian superstar will headline British Summer Time Hyde Park on July 5 and will embark on a world tour and release a new album later this year.

Rounding out the Top 5 both worth $400m are Beyoncé and Barbra Streisand. Beyoncé's worth is partially made up of album sales, royalties from her Netflix documentary Homecoming, and her Ivy Park clothing collection. In Barbra's case, recent property purchases and her success of her 2018 album Walls attribute to her fortune.

I’d love a Madonna one too.

Not sure if I’d want them to lip sync Madonna or have them sing themselves but she definitely has a story and plenty of major hits.

Didn’t really learn anything new but it was good fun.

She explained why she is wearing an eye patch tho. She got kidnapped and abused by the cartel and then she became a dance instructor 😉. She signed a guys Madame x tattoo . All the other questions were generic .

They haven’t announced when it will air. I think it will be a you tube thing . Maybe around pride ?
