Posted October 15, 201014 yr The X Factor finalists are to release a cover of David Bowie's 'Heroes' in aid of Help For Heroes, it has been revealed. The track follows the release of cover versions of Mariah Carey's 'Hero' in 2008 and Michael Jackson's 'You Are Not Alone' last year. Both tracks topped the UK charts and raised over £1m each for the charity. The Sun reports that the finalists will record the single and its video over the next week. 'Heroes' is believed to be released on November 7 Digital Spy Where do you think this will chart, how much will it sell!? I will upload a video when we get one!
October 15, 201014 yr Last year's didn't do as well as 'Hero', so I'm guessing this will be a further decline in sales .... probably still unfortunately reach #01 but go out of the charts within about five weeks or so.
October 15, 201014 yr Oh my gosh, one of my friends is going to be up in arms about this. Dreading it. :(
October 15, 201014 yr Oh dear me!. Anyways I think it will fo sho go to number one and sell around 500,000-650,000 copies just because of what it is.
October 15, 201014 yr #1 of course, but probably only 100-200k - and out of the charts as fast as McFly... :P
October 15, 201014 yr This whole thing should have stopped with Hero.I tend to support charity singles but the X-factor ones have been beyond dire. The acts they have this year cannot do justice to this song, surely David Bowie has more class.
October 15, 201014 yr These charity singles are cheesey beyond belief, i know it's for charity but you do kind of wish people would just give a quid or two to the charity itself rather than buying a cd that will probably not get listened to and get thrown away in a year or so. I think someone should set a charity up to stop x-factor contestants destroying classic songs, how about that? Edited October 15, 201014 yr by andyboiuk
October 15, 201014 yr This is a CLASSIC David Bowie track, I hope it flops to be honest, why ruin a classic. I'm just surprised David Bowie has agreed for the track to be used.
October 15, 201014 yr I wish they released that song they sang on results night [Rhythm of the Night] instead.....that was great. This......will probably be $h!t. Will ne no.1 [most probably] and sell 400-600k.... Edited October 15, 201014 yr by Word Life
October 15, 201014 yr This is a CLASSIC David Bowie track, I hope it flops to be honest, why ruin a classic. I'm just surprised David Bowie has agreed for the track to be used. Was it just TIP ranting (when he was here ... and ranting) or do I recall him ages ago as reporting that (allegedly) Cowell thought Bowie was overrated and didn't see the point in him? I've heard at one point (again allegedly) Bowie said the X-Factor was worthless and Cowell had done damage to music in general. TBH ... it isn't my favourite Bowie song ... so I don't really care what they do with it. I won't be buying it. Kath
October 15, 201014 yr Yes Cowell has been reported as saying that Bowie and Kate Bush are grossly overrated. Two of the most innovative people in music which says all you need to know about Cowell. He makes me ashamed to be called Simon.
October 15, 201014 yr I wish they released that song they sang on results night [Rhythm of the Night] instead.....that was great. This......will probably be $h!t. Will ne no.1 [most probably] and sell 400-600k.... Are you sure it was great, I hope you are being sarcastic. That performance of total lack of Rhythm of the night or any night when it comes to that bunch was terrible.I even challenge anyone to name a television performance from anywhere in the World that was worse than that one it was truly horrendous.
October 15, 201014 yr None of them are good, at all. Totally cheap, tacky, soulless etc. Not a single thought gone into it...
October 15, 201014 yr These songs are the first reason why I strongly dislike the X-Factor. The second reason is all those covers by winners which go to #1 during the Christmas period. Even Joe got to #1, just the week after usual. #1 and 400k+ I'd say. HOPEFULLY it won't go #1 and sell under 200k.
October 15, 201014 yr The 7th November - really! The same say as Westlife's and Shayne Ward's new singles come out? All on Syco of course - that can't be right.
October 15, 201014 yr #1, but didn't YANA only sell around 100k? I can see this not even making that. Might even be denied #1. After all, Cee Lo Green beat the uber-hyped Shame, who knows what else could happen? #1 is most likely though. Chart runs of the XFF singles so far: Hero 1-1-2-8-11-14-15-20-26-26-48-65-87-x You Are Not Alone 1-2-5-11-12-29-51-x Based on that Heroes could do, say, 1-2-11-15-45-x.
