I think there will be a seperate Alex/JLS duet on Overcome Deluxe, I doubt it will be The Silence.

That wouldn't be such a bad thing though. Look what happened with 'Run', it was a huge success just on downloads, and physicals hardly matter anymore in the charts, so only the really die-hard fans would get the CD.

 

The thing is, Alex does have a good fan-base that will buy the cds, and Run is a different situation in that it was highly anticipated, Despite being amazing, I don't think the anticpation will be as strong.

This release makes no sense. Surely people will just download the original version?

 

It'd have to be something pretty special to entice the more casual fan into waiting for the new version, not just adding some rent-a-rapper on top. :huh: I seriously hope it's not that as this tactic is tiring and incredibly desperate by now.

Well they did put ANL as 'album-only' on iTunes for a bit when the new version came out so they'll probably do that with 'The Silence'

No, they just deleted the old album and replaced it with a new version that had the Pitbull remix on it.

listening to the original, its very good- and its great she's releasing a ballad, as it proves her versatility, I will wait to hear the new version though

 

 

If she performs it exactly like she did on paul o grady she will have a big hit on her hands. Brilliant Ballad, and shows off she does have a pretty good voice, so much better then her other horrible releases :puke2: (apart from all night long which is same level for me).

Pleased this has been chosen as a single, has a winter-feel to it and could give the deluxe a good chance of selling well.

Hope they dont change it to much and do not add an american rapper to it or anyone for that matter. -_-

At last a good song from her... I'll wait for the new version before I say anything more but I somehow feel they won't change it a lot.

Don't see why so many people think this will go to #1? Its the 6th single of the ablum for god sake! I think it defenetly should go top 10 & also has a chance at going top 5 but no more. Although as its a new version, I might be proved wrong & it might do better than i'm expecting... depends on whether its different enough for people who already have it or the album to buy it again while still remaining as good. I will go top 5 atm though.

David Guetta got the 5th single off his album to #1 by releasing a remix of it as the single, and getting radio to play it, etc. That's essentially wat Alexandra will be doing, so who knows?

 

With Gettin' Over You, the album version charted at #41, and when the remix/single got released, it shot all the way to #1 the following week, so it didn't seem to suffer a great deal from people buying the album version either, because I think in that situation, nearly everybody thought the single version was so much better, that it was worth the wait, and if you ignore the 2 weeks beforehand where the album version charted, it has a chart run that easily could've been that of the first single off an album.

 

It depends what the new version of The Silence will be like. If it's just an extra rap verse, I don't think it'll help much (except her devoted fans can buy both versions to get it to chart a bit higher). If it's a full on remix, with a different instrumental, different bridge, different introduction, maybe a guest female vocalist, it should be a hit, as I'm sure the people who already own the song would want to buy the new version too.

 

I voted top 10 though. I can't see it getting #1, unless it's really good, and promoted very well. Radio 1 won't playlist it, unless one of those artists that they love are on the track (which would put them in a full on dilemna :lol:), but it should go top 10 at least, regardless imo.

Considering how cheap Syco are, I doubt they'd get anybody that major. Although I suppose they could easily draft in Leona and it'd be the most surefire #1 of the year. :lol:
