Sales for Hot 100 are Monday-Sunday, airplay Wednesday-Tuesday.

 

S&M will definitely be number one next week, it's just matter of whether Britney gets the credit or not. S&M will probably also be number one on Hot Digital Songs and S&M Remix on Hot Digital Tracks. So Britney will get the credit for at least the number one digital track.

 

Under normal circumstances, airplay points from a song’s album version, radio mix and/or dance music remix, etc. are all combined and factored into the song’s performance on the Hot 100, as the structure, lyrics and melody remain intact. Which is the case here. So we will have only one S&M on Hot 100...

 

But the remix can also be determined to be a new song. Several songs have charted "twice", maybe titled as Part 1 and Part 2. Like 'Love in This Club' by Usher and the aforementioned 'I'm a Flirt'.
