October 29, 201014 yr Taking out the charity songs and winners' singles: 01. Leona Lewis - Bleeding Love - 995,000 02. Alexandra Burke - Bad Boys - 695,000 03. Leona Lewis - Run - 655,000 04. JLS - Beat Again - 515,000 05. JLS - Everybody In Love - 410,000 06. JLS - One Shot - 310,000 07. Leona Lewis - Better In Time - 290,000 08. Alexandra Burke - Broken Heels - 290,000 09. Alexandra Burke - All Night Long - 260,000 10. Leona Lewis - Happy - 250,000 11. Shayne Ward - No Promises - 225,000 12. JLS - The Club Is Alive - 215,000 13. Diana Vickers - Once - 200,000 14. Shayne Ward - You Hang Up - 165,000 15. Leona Lewis - Forgive Me - 155,000 16. Chico - It's Chico Time - 150,000 17. Oli Murs - Please Don't Let Me Go - 145,000 18. Jedward - Under Pressure - 140,000 19. Shayne Ward - Breathless - 130,000 20. Leona Lewis - I Got You - 115,000 21. Leon Jackson - Don't Call This Love - 85,000 22. Alexandra Burke - Start Without You - 75,000 That's the "real" list as far as I'm concerned. Only about 300k less in single sales for Alex is really good, considering Leona's been going for 2 years longer than her and very good debut album sales too. I've done the calculation 3 times now and the difference is 675,000 copies between Leona and Alex (and that's putting SWY at 200k), so not sure where the 300k is coming from? In any case, the winner's singles are irrelevant - otherwise you can't compare e.g. Alex vs. JLS. So extracting those, the real sales differential is 1 million (actually 995,000 copies). For first album, Leona 4 singles = 2.095 million (excluding winner's single) and Alex 4 singles = 1.465 million (excluding winner's single), in a better sales climate. So whilst Alex is doing very well, she's not close to Leona at all, no matter which way the information is presented.

The only thing I can think of that the original poster meant was the 300k sales difference between Bleeding Love and Bad Boys? But even then the comment is stupid because 300k is a massive difference between 2 different songs' sales
October 29, 201014 yr They mean between BL and BB Really? If that was the case, the comment doesn't have any relevance really:- Only about 300k less in single sales for Alex is really good, considering Leona's been going for 2 years longer than her and very good debut album sales too.Because the sales differential is hardly going to alter if Leona's BL total is frozen now and we see what BB's total is 2 years down the line from now. The only thing I can think of that the original poster meant was the 300k sales difference between Bleeding Love and Bad Boys? But even then the comment is stupid because 300k is a massive difference between 2 different songs' sales  I agree. And in fact, the real difference is far greater (I'd put it at 600k difference between BL and BB) given the sales climate in 2009 when BB was released is vastly better than when BL was released in 2007.

It hardly makes a difference what anyone thinks is the real list or wants to be the real list, facts are facts.I think it is only fair to judge all the acts when they have been releasing material for the same time period.Where will Alex, JLS,Olly, Diana be when they have been releasing material for as long as Leona and Shayne. Its great to see X-factor 2008 having such strong sales and taking so many Top 10 places.Hallelujah is a really good song and deserves to be No 1.

Agree with all your points. It hardly makes a difference what anyone thinks is the real list or wants to be the real list, facts are facts. However, the real list is the one without the winner's singles as otherwise you can't compare any of the winners in sales terms with any of the other acts.

However, the real list is the one without the winner's singles as otherwise you can't compare any of the winners in sales terms with any of the other acts. I disagree only because some of the winners have been lucky to get huge sales off the back of X-factor with winners singles. Leona, Joe and Alex have but others have not like Leon and Steve whose sales were just middling for the exposure a Winner gets.

The 3 decent winners (Leona Alex and Shayne) sold well because they were all good. Leon and Steve didn't because they're all, quite frankly, rubbish. Joe sits somewhere in the middle. Notwithstanding the above, in addition it is important to recognise that the problem with "facts" such as those posted in the original list is that they don't account for variances in e.g. natural sales patterns, year-on-year sales variations etc. Would you ever compare the single sales for Katy Perry's California Gurls in Uzbekhistan and Lady GaGa's Bad Romance in the United States?

But if we're saying that, then you might as well count out Bad Boys, Bleeding Love, Run, Everybody In Love and so on because they've been helped by an X Factor performance
October 29, 201014 yr QUOTE(spiidey @ Oct 29 2010, 12:15 PM) * I've done the calculation 3 times now and the difference is 675,000 copies between Leona and Alex (and that's putting SWY at 200k), so not sure where the 300k is coming from? Ooops! I forgot to add Leona's 200k sales for Happy,:heehee: anyway what I meant was that Alex has done really well regarding the single sales between them both so far considering that Leona has released 7 to Alex's 5 so far. :)
October 29, 201014 yr But if we're saying that, then you might as well count out Bad Boys, Bleeding Love, Run, Everybody In Love and so on because they've been helped by an X Factor performance Not really though, because its already been shown with e.g. Cheryl's Promise This that an X Factor performance doesn't really assist that much anyway as the song is being sold to the "core demographic", the vast majority of whom already know about it. in any case, any limited X Factor effect probably lasts one week at most - which still allows a meaningful analysis of long term sales to be valid. Yeah you're right, on an average basis Alex is only 50k per single behind Leona at this stage.

So whats the difference between winning singles and this? In some cases, some of those singles have sold higher than the winning singles Edited October 29, 201014 yr by Knightr634
November 10, 201014 yr I guess this should be added: Leona Lewis - Bleeding Love - 1,000,534 Officially the #1 disregarding winners singles. ^_^ Brilliant, + was #1 for 7weeks, in 35 countries and sold 10million+ worldwide. Go leona :w00t: Icing on the cake getting to that 1million mark here in the UK. The most songs in the top 10, 3 including winners single and 4 disregarding the winners single, X FACTOR QUEEN. Edited November 10, 201014 yr by Peace
November 10, 201014 yr Glad to see Alexandra at the top and Leona dominating the chart. They are both incredible. The rest on that list are dire (Steve Who? Leon Who? JLS, Chico, Jedward....). Although Diana Vickers most recent song is great.
November 10, 201014 yr Did the Club is Alive really only sell that much? woeful :D Just goes to show even the fans won't buy it if it is a crap song! Oh and what is Start Without You on now? does anyone know?
November 10, 201014 yr would be nice to see a list from them of albums. I guess: 1. Leona - Spirit 2. JLS - JLS 3. Alexandra Burke - Overcome 4. Leona - Echo
November 10, 201014 yr Bad Boys should have sold 700.000 by now! Great to see Leona finally reach a million.
November 10, 201014 yr Its so odd to see Joe with over 700k for The Cilmb yet Ambitions and his album will struggle to hit 150k.Great to see Leona at a million for Bleeding Love, Syco need to lift there game though she needs a single out and soon.Props to Alexandra, JLS and Diana for not using the X-factor as a crutch though and forging careers away from the show.
