An Irish comedy act, possibly with a Xmas number 1 campaign behind them

Your right, its being backed by RTE station in Ireland. I don't 'get' it myself but then I'm not Irish. The song does have a MASSIVE lead on itunes (at least 3 to 1) so the X Factor winner already has alot of ground to make up. Though technically the Irish Xmas chart wont be announced until 24th (a week later) as the charts runs from Friday to Thursday.

Why do we do this to ourselves! I did watch the video and laugh several times but this is how we are going to be portrayed internationally! :drama:

well if 1DIrection win i want it to be Christmas Number One I suppose but the best Christmas Number 1 would be coldplay!

Horse Outside back up to number 1!!

Doesn't matter, even if horse outside sells more downloads, Matt will sell twice as many physicals. Whilst it may have a better shot getting the Christmas No.1 next week, comple lack of awareness of the Irish charts will prevent this. I mean, there's a campaign going on facebook encouraging people to download it this week "so it can get the christmast No.1", even though the christmas chart is next week. Also, I saw a comment on youtube (yes it was one comment, but it seems to be the general consensus among most Irish people) telling people to hold off downloading until sunday "so it can get the christmas No.1", even though our chart week begins on fridays.

Good to see Biffy Clyro now look set to finaly have a hit in Ireland.

Yeah, some well deserved recognition. :)

Horse Outside got a physical release last Friday and according to the guys it sold out before the end of the day and they were trying to get more copies into the shops.

Depends on how you look at it.... I would be of the opinion that the Christmas chart is the one that stands on Christmas Day.

Matt is ahead in the Irish midweeks (according to an Irish radio station)................Midweek sales for No.1. Matt Cardle: 43000ish. @Rubberbandits: 17000ish. So Matt is obviously selling more physicals.

Which radio station? as none of them seem too bothered with the Irish chart (its a wonder any of them even know it exists)....

Looking at your profile you seem to be an X factor fan - are you sure this isn't wishful thinking?

It was a tweet from a Today FM researcher - Dublin based national news radio station - not wishful thinking on my part.

Think I'll take this with a pinch of salt ;)

I don't understand what you mean? The christmas No.1 will be confirmed this week.

You`ll still be saying that even when the chart is announced on Friday lol

Dublins spin 1038 plays the top 30 irish chart every sunday evening so its not all radio stations

I know Matt is going to be No.1, but given how privatised the Irish chart is, I highly doubt a radio dj would be allowed post sales figuires on a public free-for-all site such as Twitter.

My mistake! Didn't notice the date of your post.....

Thanks! I knew it was on a couple of Irish language stations but not Spin. A great alternative to Reggie Yates on Radio 1 for part of Sunday afternoon.

From the website it looks like they started covering the chart just before 2FM stopped - wonder if they've taken the broadcast rights from RTE?

Fairytale of New York spent 4 weeks at the top when it was originally released!
