Founder and President of the Purepop alliance against Indie $h!te [PPAAIS] innit bitch!

:kink:

We would object to a very very very severe deduction, but the only people that have had any objections are Casey who suffered from it and Aaron. Which was a case of when would Aaron back up Casey after Casey complained rather than an if.

I am not altering the result of the contest. The deduction will remain as it is. Moan all you want it will change nothing.

Is pretty much almost two thirds of a deduction not 'severe' then?!

Your sarcy "Vote on time then :)" wasn't really needed, obviously I would have, if I was near a computer..

I'm not moaning, I just think it's a bit WTF; but oh well! I'm very pleased that if I had voted Ellie would have nearly been the first person to win twice ^_^!

I highly doubt I shall enter in the next contest (I'm probably banned anyway) or any further contests, not because of this, but I've completely drifted from Buzzjack. I will probably vote in the Best Of, if it's happening? <3

BYE FOR B.a.N.G ^_^

Bans only operated for when we had too many contestants, so nobody's actually banned...

The Best of is going ahead, we're just planning ways on making it more inclusive behind the scenes atm ^_^

Predictable winner but well done Yuxhaaq :D

31st, disaster. Can't be too hard to do better next time. I have an idea for an entry anyway. and this time I'm not going to make it REALLLY OBVIOUS it's me

Remember to tune into www.discoverradio.org at 5pm to hear the exclusive first play of the BJUSC winner :P
I can't this week  My bandwidth is still shot and I can't stream anything - I was able to listen to it last week because I was back at home. Have fun though! :D

Thanks to the people whose votes were revealed after I'd gone, I think a couple of them gave me points.

Pleased with the winner. I gave some points to Yuxhaaq, and I think they gave some to BTR :D

Well, BTR have beaten me :( Stupid, stupid, stupid. Hate.

HA

Well, 14th is about where I expected to end up. Pretty bad result overall but then again there were only 4 or 5 songs I really liked anyway.

Thx to Ashton for hosting and to Herzebania, Isconia, N-Lazone, Ashton, Espen, Torchwood, Tinnmark, UnoShake, Rontvia, Eledan, Dalisska, Xanaga, Yuxhaaq, Ojnoj, Jamora, Botanikka and New Caprica.

This is a pop contest, and as such, I send current pop songs.

Wait, what?

If it really is, then I'm definitely wrong here.

I always thought it was a contest with all kinds of music. Or rather with the possibility of sending all kinds of music.

I've always considered this contest as somewhere where I send the songs I love and want to send regardless of what genre they are....and apart from maybe once that's exactly what I've done.

In fact I remember at the start of the contest when I joined I think I got a pep talk from someone saying you should send what you love and not what you expect to do well. (or something along those lines)

I think he meant it was a pop-oriented contest :P

Exactly. I knew someone would pull me up on that, but I know why you did that. What I meant was it's a contest where pop songs tend to do well, and where they are appreciated by most entrants. Your entrants sometimes seem to go against the grain, but actually THAT is the point of the contest, to discover new music. I think what I meant rather than pop was commercial, but again, that's not essential...

Tbh, I'm not really doing that here. I always try to find compromises. The only song that I sent that I would rank in a list of best songs ever or sth is the Tool one.

Sending the songs that I really love is for NSC, usually. The tastes there are far more diverse, IMO.

Don't hit me now. :P

Ok, I knew you meant something like that but still had to respond.

I genuinely have sent some of my all time favourite songs to BJSC over the years :o I'd rank all of the following in my top 150 songs of all time;

Delta Goodrem - Believe Again

Sara Bareilles - Love Song

Maria & Mira - Mine All Mine

The Sound of Arrows - M.A.G.I.C.

Beautiful Small Machines - Robots In Love

Anna Abreu - Music Everywhere

Staygold - Backseat

Sheelah - Pyscho

I've nearly always sent my favourite song to the contest at that moment in time that wasn't in the charts or cheap in some other way. Which genre it is hasn't particularly been an issue, but obviously being a major pop fan - the song that usually qualifies for this is a pop song of some sort, but it's not like I've never dabbled in any other genres. I never send old favourites of mine as I don't feel like I can really get behind supporting songs that are ancient to me. Exceptions to this were Stumble and Glorious (the contest was just starting!) and Varsta Schlagern (everyone was doing something different that month ).

Entries of mine which also happen to be in my top 300 of all time:

Serebro - Opium

Rachel Stevens - I Said Never Again

Camille - Money Note

Janelle Monae - Many Moons

La Roux - Quicksand (in my top 5 of all time!)

Erik Hassle - Hurtful

Priscilla Renea - Dollhouse

The Sound of Arrows - Into The Clouds (in my top 20 of all time)

Dollface - Miss Jamaica

Bon Iver - Skinny Love

Sia - Clap Your Hands

Eric Saade - It's Gonna Rain

The Killers - When You Were Young

I'd say I've stayed quite loyal to the concept of sending something you love in general!

OMG LOVE THIS GAME

t.A.T.u. - Gomenasai

Caroline Af Ugglas - Snälla Snälla

Tiësto ft. Kele Okereke - It's Not The Things You Say

Ólafur Arnalds - Ljósið

Stoffer Og Maskinen - Vi To Er Smeltet Sammen

Some of my favourite songs of all time, if i had to compile the list.
