Take That make it a month on top with The Flood whilst Rihanna and Drake climb to a new peak of No.2 with What's My Name!!! Upcoming Swedish singer Tove Styrke smashes in at No.3 with White Light Moment whilst fellow Swedes Le Kid fall a couple of spots to No.4 with We Should Go Home Together...Cheryl Cole stays in 5th place with the former chart topper Promise This...Cheryl tops the album chart for a second week though with Messy Little Raindrops, fending off the challenge from Norwegian singer Tone Damli, who debuts at No.2 with Cocool!!! Taylor Swift slides to No.3 with Speak Now, Rumer debuts at No.4 with Seasons Of My Soul and Shakira's Sale El Sol is down two spots to No.5...

Their record company has been very wise to bring the release of 'The Flood' forward a week. I actually think this is Take That's best single since 'Patience' (yes, I prefer this to 'Rule The World') and could well be no. 1 next week depending on how much I'm still loving 'Only Girl'.

 

6. Nicole Scherzinger - Poison (7) (CR-10-7-6)

 

Finally heard this the other day and was impressed. I'd seen a music video on the music channel and I thought it was Nicole but I was thinking "it doesn't look her". Turned out to be Freemasons feat. Wynter Gordon 'Believer'. :lol:

 

8. Bruno Mars - Just The Way You Are (10) (CR-18-17-15-9-7-5-10-OUT-10-8) Longest Runner

 

This track defines "modern classic" and like you've posted yourself, this is surely going to become a staple tune of 2010 - one of the UK #1s of this year that will be remembered well in 10 years time.

 

9. Rihanna - Only Girl (In The World) (6) (CR-13-4-6-9)

 

...and this just continues to be excellent. I know you weren't keen at first but from first listen I thought this was a fantastic pop/dance track. I'm shocked but so pleased that 'Only Girl' has managed to increase its sales this week to 134k. Honestly didn't think it'd happen but it's well deserved.

 

10. Nelly - Just A Dream (13) (CR-13-10)

 

Nelly has always been hit n' miss for me. I much prefer this type of Nelly song. My fave Nelly track is 'Dilemma' which is probably a predictable choice but it really was one of the classic songs from 2002. His only other song I've liked loads was 'My Place' in 2004 and that was mainly down to Jaheim's soulful vocals on the chorus. So this is probably my third fave Nelly track to date and will entering my chart in the next couple of weeks.

 

14. Far East Movement feat Cataracs & Dev - Like A G6 (Re-entry) (CR-14-10-OUT-14)

 

This is so much like 'Boom Boom Pow' but where I was in two minds over that song before starting to like it a little bit more, I actually already like this song more than 'BBP'. Do I see this going to no. 1 in my chart? No. :D But top 10 could well happen.

 

15. Hurts - Stay (17) (CR-17-OUT-17-15)

 

Following the massive success of 'Wonderful Life' topping my chart and 'Better Than Love' making my top 5, Hurts are definitely looking set at scoring their third top 5 hit with this. It's such a gem of a track and I'd love to see this song be a big UK hit but I suspect it'll be low top 40 whilst enjoying massive success across Europe.

This is such a better track than 'Teenage Dream' and is definitely looking set to peak higher and have a better chart run.

All three I find absolutely amazing pop songs, as well as Patience too :wub: Shame Greatest Day was so bland...sadly, despite being inside my top 10 of the noughties, Rule The World never topped my chart because it was out at the same time as Delta's Believe Again!

6. It's a really great pop song. Typical generic RedOne but it has a strong hook and melody.

8. Oh I agree, I never get bored of this song, it sounds perfect for any occasion. Definitely the 'future classic' of 2010, along with Empire State Of Mind Part II probably.

9. Not that I wasn't keen, I just found it generic - which it is - but her vocal power won me over in the end as usual. Somebody like Kelly Rowland on this song would bore me but Rihanna has a distinct vocal style that I love :wub:

10. I think this is perhaps my favourite Nelly song, it's so chilled and laidback, really great song. I hate his 'club banger' type songs to be honest.

Great chart. Nice to see Nicole still holding in top 10 and Ne-Yo's album has entered in top 10 albums. Really liking that album, but it seems that public not really :(

Thanks Nick! Ne-Yo's album is a pleasant background listen with 2 or 3 standouts but it's not as good as Year of the Gentleman imo.

12. Tone Damli - No Way Out (NEW) (CR-12) One of the standout tracks on a strong album. Might consider getting it physically if it comes down in price on CDON

 

*E.M.D. - What Is Love I heard this the other week, found it really cringeworthy sadly :(

*Play - Destiny Is this a Swedish band? I'm sure I've seen the name being thrown about, but don't think I've heard any of their songs

*September - Resuscitate Me I've yet to hear this, bizarre title - sounds like something Elin Lanto would sing. What's it like?

1. That's great to hear :D It really is a great song in full, I find it quite powerful!

3. Despite them seeming more commonplace, #1 debuts for me are really still very rare :lol: Nadine and Take That were exceptions to the rule!

Haha, I can see why you feel that way about What Is Love, I do like it though! Yeah Play are a Swedish girlband, this is a nice ballad but it will be back out again next week, I'm bored of it now :lol: September's new song is good but I need it in HQ to make a better judgement - I doubt it will go much further in my chart in the meantime. She's done better though I think.
