The Top Singles in Dec 1973: With Glitter everywhere & the biggest selling single in years & wasn't it great? Loathe the man but love the music. Bit partial to Kiki Dee too, & Matt Monro's "And You Smiled" was the vocal version of Eye Level, which of course was the theme to Thames TV's Van Der Valk starring the late Barry Foster. Infact all the TV & records were great in 1973. Unforunately 37 years on, we haven't actually got any decent TV & the radio is pretty crap too, mainly because of the over censoring of everything...when apparently it is quite ok to swear on tv these days. No, it ain't clever to do so anywhere...I even heard a manager in a shop effing the other day. If you are reading this Mr...You've been reported to your superior.

Great to see the PSBs #2 on the physical chart. Shame they won't even be top 40...

2 weeks for Heroes. Although it's only number 7 for the week on iTunes. So, that means a bunch of nobs are buying it in the shops & in the snow too...Coldplay are the fastest grower cracking in some 16,000 buyers in less than 48 hours. Could be top 10 by Sunday. Who are these boring people that download the same tired old classics every December, we ask...Are they listeners to the worst Radio station on earth i.e. Gold? Even more mindboggling the kids that think Rihanna has a good singing voice! ;)

The three Rihanna songs are next to each other! :o I so hope that happens in the official chart! :D Although it would probably just spark yet another discussion about the definition of a sandwich in the Chart Show Thread.

Edited by Eric_Blob

Ouccccccccch @ PSBs, could they fall out of the top 75 by the weekend? Hope not :( I hope The Killers could make it in by Sunday...

Thanks Dave

I can't believe Heroes is going to get a second week. :nocheer:

Yeah, shocked Heroes is doing so well. I wanted someone different this week, although I'm not overly fond of any of the top 3 tbh. I was hoping Nicole this week, then Ellie or the BEPs next week, but I doubt any of this will happen.

Sorry if this sounds dumb but it states that positions 41-75 are downloads only and includes no physical sales. Am i reading correctly? I'd have expected PSB to be much lower than 75 if it were downloads only.

Israel Kamakazi :kink:

Hope James Blake can at least stay around #49, or possibly go even higher (due to it getting 1 play on daytime radio it's gone up to #34 on iTunes, this could be a potential massive hit if daytime Radio 1 play it enough)

Also I hope DJ Fresh/Sigma can go top 75 :D Awesome tune, but I'll need to decide whether or not to credit Koko on my spreadsheet

It's out on 10th January according to HMV...

Not strange at all - Take That have been out almost two weeks longer haven't they?

Edited by Kathyp

I hope McFly can go back up to 15 at least. They're still at 13 on Itunes and I think Mike Posner has fallen behind them? I want them to stick or rise, just because it would be so strange for them! Its strange enough that they're still so high after 4 weeks.

It doesn't sound dumb at all. I not quite sure how that system works. Possibly if there is someone who sells better physicals, they are slid in between the rest of the other songs that are included just on downloads to show how they might be doing. But I'll check it out.

What is strange?

Westlife always sell almost only on physicals, plus Take That were weeks earlier out. In fact it's quite embarrassing for Westlife to have a song that was out weeks earlier just behind them on the physical chart.

Physical sales are so low that the download chart is almost identical to the main one.
