November 24, 201014 yr I am bored of it but tbh it's just one more thing for the tabloid media to fawn over, I'm perfectly happy for them.
November 24, 201014 yr Well yes, but let's not forget the massive increase in beer, BBQ etc. sales - which played a large role in the growth in the second quarter this year if I remember correctly? Don't think I'm defending the £5 billion claim. Businesses are always whinging about how much something is going to cost them. However, most of the lost sales on the day will simply be a matter of people buying the same thing on a different day so won't be losses at all. After all, we all have to eat. If someone does their food shopping on Thursday or Saturday rather than the usual Friday, so what? As I said, the biggest problem for businesses will be people trying to book holiday around that time, including people like me who have every intention of being out of the country.
November 24, 201014 yr I've just realised this comes right at the end of my first week of exams :nocheer:
November 25, 201014 yr Author Sex Pistols - "God Save The Queen"... An obvious one maybe, but considering it should have been number one during the Silver Jubilee, we can right that wrong of history and get it in there just in time for the Royal Wedding.....
November 25, 201014 yr Author Actually, The Smiths - The Queen Is Dead would be a good choice too.....
November 25, 201014 yr Author i really couldnt give a $h!t about a royal wedding, pointless amount of fuss and money spent, i really dont see why people give a f***. "OH MY GOD SOME PEOPLE WHO ARE FAMOUS FOR BEING BORN AND LIVE OFF THE TAXPAYER ARE GETTING MARRIED, LETS DECLARE THIS A NATIONAL HOLIDAY AND WATCH IT ON TV". Spot on Chris.... Makes me vomit to be honest. And look at the cost for bloody security for this event.. Oh, I mean, yeah, it's really big of Wills to say "Hey, I'll pay for the ceremony", yeah, and, you want a cookie for that? You gonna pay the £80 million bill for the policing as well mate...? People ask me why I dislike the Royals so much - and I answer, "it's not so much THEM as people, it's the institution and what it stands for...".
November 25, 201014 yr I think the Manic's Repeat would be exceptionally fitting :- London, England, consider yourselves warned Repeat after me f*** queen and country Repeat after me Death sentence heritage Repeat after me Death camp palace Repeat after me Royal Khymer Rouge Repeat after me Imitation demi-god Useless generation Dumb flag scum Useless generation Dumb flag scum Repeat after me f*** queen and country Repeat after me f*** queen and country Useless generation Dumb flag scum Useless generation Dumb flag scum Edited November 25, 201014 yr by Severin
November 25, 201014 yr I am a bit sick of hearing about it tbh, I know its a big event, but do we have to hear about it everywhere we go? I am happy for them though, and we get a holiday- that cant be bad :D
December 6, 201014 yr How long before the first Facebook campaign to get a particular song to number one that week? Any ideas for a suitable song? Cher's debut? Lavender Blue Dilly Dilly with self composed rap. I'm one of those eternal romantics who loves all the pageantry. We do it so well in the UK. Small and medium businesses will find ways of cashing in to offset any losses from the extra public holiday. Edited December 6, 201014 yr by Baytree
December 6, 201014 yr People ask me why I dislike the Royals so much - and I answer, "it's not so much THEM as people, it's the institution and what it stands for...". For me ... the people who make me sick ... are those folk who don't have two brass farthings to rub together ... but will still be waving their flags and arranging street parties for this. Maybe religion was the opium of the people in Marx's day ... but in Britain today (well lets face it ... forever) the Royal Family are the drug. Still ... it'll be nice to have a day off! And as I work Weds, Thurs, Fris ... it'll be one of only two bank holidays I'll benefit from next year! Kath
