January 5, 201114 yr OH, I thought you were talking about support. It isn't decided by Radio 1, it's a poll of various industry people and noted big shot bloggers, the decision over who won was made a long time ago on points. Oh, yeah, I did know that. No idea why I said 'Radio 1'. I only just woke up. I'll blame it on that. But yeah, the whole top 5 will almost certainly get Radio 1 backing and probably the whole top 15 will. Maybe not Mona/Esben/Anna. I've heard music on In New Music We Trust by everyone on the list except those three. That's normally a good indication of main R1 support. January 5, 201114 yr Ooh so Jessie J/James Blake for the top 2 ? Judging from "Do it like a dude"/"Price tage" and "Limit to your love" only, I'd be on James Blake's side :)
January 5, 201114 yr Based on Who You Are and Nobody's Perfect, I'm backing Jessie as I'd be far more interested in an album by her - although I'd be rooting for Jamie Woon if he'd stood any chance whatsoever of winning.

I still haven't listened to anything by Jessie other than DILAD which is not very good. I will reserve my judgment on Jessie J until I hear her other music but for now I'm backing James Blake.
January 5, 201114 yr I think Jessie has it really - the Critics Choice tends to align with the BBC Sound poll, and the one time it diverged it went for the more indie-friendly candidate (Adele over Duffy) - so I think, providing the panel remains the same for the Critics' Choice, if the poppier candidate's winning that then it's a sign that they've got Sound wrapped up. Plus, let's face it - which one screams commercial success moreso, James or Jessie?

Actually I think Duffy was more "indie-friendly" than Adele at that time, mainly due to the fact that "Chasing pavments" sounds a lot more commercial/polished than "Mercy" for example. And I'd say the same for her whole album.

January 5, 201114 yr Author Jessie J is actually $h!t though. I'm sick of this female artist fad we have now, hoping it's going to come to an end this year. Might as well turn Pixie Lott's hair brunette and make her a little more dirty, and then she'd be Jessie J.
January 5, 201114 yr Is a James Blake/Jessie J top 2 guaranteed then? Nero/Wretch 32/The Naked and Famous all stand a chance as well I reckon, The Vaccines and Jamie Woon are mysteries to me tbh
January 5, 201114 yr Author If it's anything other than Jamie Blake/Jessie J as a top 2 I will be entirely shocked.

January 5, 201114 yr I'm really hoping for The Naked and Famous to be here, (I've heard PIAD loads on Radio 1 recently) perhaps with James Blake - only heard two Jessie J songs, and can't say I'm overly impressed with either. An ideal top 2 would be The Naked and Famous with Nero.
January 5, 201114 yr Stick my neck out and say Warpaint as the #1 act with Naked & Famous second, but I bet its between Jesse J and James Blake for the last 2. I'm not really into James Blake or Jesse J, don't rule out Warpaint just yet. Warpaint's album is actually pretty good, especially Shadows.
January 5, 201114 yr No suprises with the top 5 at all then. I've heard a few songs from The Vaccines and I cant help but disagree with the asertment that theres a lot more depth to them than similar sounding bands. They sound decent but very generic of their sound. Not overly bothered if it's Jessie or James that wins it to be honest, both seem very good artists. I think I shall now return to preending it's a Florrie vs Sky Ferreira top 2.
January 5, 201114 yr Jessie J - what a tradegy :P Hopefully it will be Warpaint and James Blake in the Top 2 Very happy to see Jamie Woon in the Top 5 - Night Air is a track of the year
January 6, 201114 yr Sigh. Predictable poll is predictable. (Although I thought Clare Maguire would win)
January 6, 201114 yr Jessie J is actually $h!t though. I'm sick of this female artist fad we have now, hoping it's going to come to an end this year. Bit of an odd and slightly sexist statement to make? How about 'I'm sick of this male artist fad we have now' - we have male and female artists, there's no difference. It's not like 'female artist' is a genre or anything...
