January 6, 201114 yr Sigh. Predictable poll is predictable. (Although I thought Clare Maguire would win) These polls always are predictable though - get a group of tastemakers in a room to name the biggest star of the next year and they're all likely to alight upon the ones we've heard of.
January 6, 201114 yr These polls always are predictable though - get a group of tastemakers in a room to name the biggest star of the next year and they're all likely to alight upon the ones we've heard of. I still live in hope of a shock win for not Jessie J anyway.
January 6, 201114 yr So happy everything is coming together for Jessie. Nobodys Perfect, Price Tag & Who You Are just shows what she is made of
January 6, 201114 yr I really don't understand the Jessie J hate on here. I thought everyone would love her Who You Are is amazing  Although, Price Tag hasn't really clicked with me yet
January 6, 201114 yr Was hoping for a James Blake win if it was between him and Jessie J :( Still hanging on to the hope that they ignore Jessie completely and crown the Naked and Famous as their winners
January 6, 201114 yr I'd agree but replace The Naked and Famous with anyone. Regardless of your opinion of Jessie J, it's pointless winning. She's heading for the top 3 and doesn't need any of the hype at all, it would be a complete waste.
January 6, 201114 yr But like Tyron stated a couple of pages ago, wasn't there a deadline for the whole "peaking Top 20" rule or whatever? The voting for this was done and finished a few weeks before 'Do It Like A Dude' was even released, wasn't it? It's not Jessie's fault this song is suddenly blowing up now that there's more hype and talk around her.
January 6, 201114 yr Jessie J is amazing and a true talent, to compare her to Pixie f***ing Lott is a bit of a joke. For one, she has a far better voice and her songs show much more individuality. I don't really get the hate ... unless you've only heard 'Do It Like A Dude' then fair enough, but the rest of her material is all far superior.

If you just judge her on Do It Like A Dude then I can see why people would dislike her as it's a very polarising song. But if you listen to songs like Price Tag, Who You Are, Nobody's Perfect, Mama Knows Best - and watch her live performances on Youtube, I think it would convert a lot of people.
January 6, 201114 yr For me it's not a case of hating Jessie J, just preferring the vast majority of the other nominees
January 6, 201114 yr I take it the BBC are playing it safe then- these are exactly the same top 3 as the BRIT awards critics choice I quite like Price Tag, but it is a rip off of the Black Eyed Peas and Natasha Bedingfield, although Do it Like a Dude pretty much defines chavvy :puke2:
January 6, 201114 yr  Jessie J for the win! "Do It Like A Dude" is such a great song and so different to everything else in the charts. Hope she comes out with the hits and hopefully her next single is good (I haven't heard it but everyone says it rips of The Black Eyed Peas "Where Is The Love), which is great because I love that song. Yes I am a BEP fan. But yes DILAD is a grower, I used to hate the song cos her voice sounded much different to the likes of Katy Perry, Lady GaGa & Rihanna, and so wasnt used to it Edited January 6, 201114 yr by *xmasG*
January 6, 201114 yr  Jessie J for the win! "Do It Like A Dude" is such a great song and so different to everything else in the charts. That's strange as the whole point of the song was for it to sound exactly the same as everything else in the charts.

The Vaccines less so, but I'm clearly missing something there...

January 6, 201114 yr Author Bit of an odd and slightly sexist statement to make? How about 'I'm sick of this male artist fad we have now' - we have male and female artists, there's no difference. It's not like 'female artist' is a genre or anything... Not really sexist? Like in the early to mid-20s there was a lot of male solo singers, and now it's the female singers. I'm sorry but I don't mind them, but it's just exactly the same as all of the other fads that have been. As soon as a few get popular, record companies sign more in the hope that there'll be good. Adele, Diana Vickers, Pixie Lott, Duffy, Daisy Dares You, Leona Lewis, Alexandra Burke, Jessie J, Claire Maguire, Ellie Goulding, Florence & Machine, Little Boots, they're just the British ones I can think of off the top of my head. The whole urban thing is similar, Dizze Rascal scores a big hit and they breed more through to the mainstream. But there are just so many female pop singers out there...too many.
January 7, 201114 yr Jessie J confirmed as winner: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-12112638
January 7, 201114 yr On the whole, I personally would have prefered a Clare Maguire win I think. Of course, Jessie winning became inevitable quite a while back and well done to her, most of the songs seem decent enough though perhaps unworthy of the hype. Not sure how successful she'll actually be, but I can see her outdoing Ellie (pre-Your Song) and Boots anyway.
