December 2, 201014 yr Glad to see P!nk score her 2nd solo number 1. Really deserved. Katy Perry should grab the number 1 easily next week.
December 2, 201014 yr BILLBOARD HOT 100 [**] 18| Enrique Iglesias Featuring Ludacris & DJ Frank E - Tonight (I'm Lovin' You) SOURCE: Charly 1300 Forums off to a "flying" start - suspects it's the other version thats being downloaded? "Tonight (I'm F**king You)"
December 2, 201014 yr This week's notes: There have been five different #1's in last five weeks...Hasn't happenend since 1990. Third #1 for Pink following Lady Marmalade (2001) and So What (2008) Fourth Top 10 single for Bruno Mars following Just The Way You Are and collabos with B.o.B and Travie McCoy. Michael Jackson's Hold My Hand (50) is already his highest charting song since Butterflies (#14, 2002). Glee Cast's version of Bruno Mars' Marry You is #32. What's funny though is that there's also Train's Marry Me (86). It's a bit of a threesome because Mars' original debuts at #91. :P Sick Puppies make their chart debut with Maybe (100). December 2, 201014 yr Impressive for Pink getting to no. 1, I actually thought Katy Perry may well have got to no. 1 this week. Are Coldplay releasing their new Xmas single in America? I wonder if that could be a brand new #1 next week?
December 2, 201014 yr I'm very surprised that Pink has made it all the way to #1 with 'Raise Your Glass'. It's far from one of her best. Infact, it's rather generic as far as Pink songs go (as proven by her rather mediocre chart placing over here). I'm happy for her though.
December 2, 201014 yr Are Coldplay releasing their new Xmas single in America? I wonder if that could be a brand new #1 next week? It's already released..Won't go #1 but should have a good debut.
December 2, 201014 yr It's already released..Won't go #1 but should have a good debut. Was it released today like in the UK? I just know that Coldplay have been one of the most popular British bands of the last decade in America. Especially with 'Viva La Vida' going to no. 1 in the Billboard Hot 100, it made me wonder if they could bag themselves a second chart topper. The US #1s have been really interesting this year. A massive improvement on the dire days of airplay dominance in 2004.
December 2, 201014 yr Yea today I think. If we're talking about Hot 100 it doesn't have much time to reach 300k it needs. It might be the best selling song this week or next week though It's nice that we have had lots of #1s but three big hits never made it: Bad Romance, Need You Now and Airplanes.. Instead we have loads of just another #1s like Break Your Heart, Imma Be, OMG and What's My Name. Edited December 2, 201014 yr by SKOB
December 2, 201014 yr HOW is Stereo Love top 30?! I love it, but I can't imagine it being played on American radio in between Lil Wayne and Nicki Minaj? It's either getting decent airplay, or none at all and it's top 10 on sales...
December 2, 201014 yr When I went to the US, I didn't actually here that much Lil' Wayne and Nicki Minaj on the radio. Not as much as I was expecting. Taio Cruz was EVERYWHERE at the time, since I was there inbetween Break Your Heart and Dynamite's peak in popularity. So much that it now seems strange when I hear Break Your Heart in the UK without Ludacris's rap verse. Bulletproof was huge at the time too, as were Not Afraid, Aiprlanes and Love the Way You Lie, and DJ Got Us Fallin' in Love was massive at the time too, much to my annoyance. I Like It was also absolutely everywhere. I saw Enrique and Pitbull perform it on some dancing TV show, and then the next day I was hearing it on the radio every 20 minutes and it was near the top of iTunes. The Script, Lady Antebellum, Taylor Swift, etc. were also massive at the time, but I can't really tell the difference between their songs. It was also strange, because Bulletproof always seemed like such a non-#1 to me from last year, but after going to the US, it seems so much more now. I can see myself associating Bulletproof with 2010 when I'm older, to be honest. Everytime I saw someone English, I made sure to tell everyone around me. I heard Dog Days Are Over in a shop once, and it made me feel really happy (it wasn't popular in the US back in July time, I think it was at the bottom of the iTunes top 100). Same with when they played Mr. Hudson (via Young Forever with Jay-Z). Another strange thing was the difference in release schedules. Cooler Than Me was really popular when I was there, and then when it was popular a few months later in the UK, it just seemed so old to me. But it was the opposite way with Ridin' Solo. What If was getting good airplay in the UK, and Ridin' Solo seemed months old, then I go to the US, and they're all like "Now I'll play Jason Derulo's new song, it's called Ridin' Solo". They didn't even have the proper radio edit or anything, which was strange. It wasn't too dissimilar to what was in the UK charts really. Just more Taylor Swift and Eminem, and very few of the British and European songs, so yes, I would've found it difficult to imagine Stereo Love being played on US Radio, and I was there in the summer! EDIT: Sorry that I got carried away reminiscing and typed up a load of stuff that nobody cares about. Edited December 2, 201014 yr by Eric_Blob
December 2, 201014 yr Yeah, what's interesting about US pop music right now actually isn't the lack of dance music. Not only are a few dance acts succeeding, but much of the pop and hip/hop music is clearly inspired by Eurodance. What's actually lacking in a big way right now is rock music. There is virtually no rock music on pop radio or the iTunes chart, save for a few MOR acts like Train. And the top selling one of those, Hey Soul Sister, is 14 months old!
December 2, 201014 yr Stereo Love is just another "Heaven" or "Something", one of those big dance hits that charts highly in the US every few years.
December 3, 201014 yr Yesss. 'Pretty Girl Rock' FINALLY enters at 72 :D Hope it can continue climbing
December 3, 201014 yr HOW is Stereo Love top 30?! I love it, but I can't imagine it being played on American radio in between Lil Wayne and Nicki Minaj? It's either getting decent airplay, or none at all and it's top 10 on sales... It actually is getting some decent play in the US, ive heard it multiple times on all the big radio stations around the NYC/Long Island area. Go P!NK!!! never thought this would be a #1, a bit sad though when you think songs like Who Knew, Sober and U+UR Hand only scrapped the top 10 or never made it at all. But i'm still happy for her, hopefully a sign of more good things to come.
