Ooooo, just noticed this thread - I shall look forward to seeing what charts highly for you this year.

60 jj 'No.3'

Majorly disappointing, it's not even half as good as No.2 was. :(

59 Fyfe Dangerfield 'Fly Yellow Moon'

58 RPA & The United Nations of Sound 'United Nations of Sound'

57 Interpol 'Interpol'

Not heard. Perhaps not that surprising for the top 2 but probably quite weird for Interpol. I just can't bring myself to listen to it as I know I'm going to find it a crushing disappointment and I don't want it to ruin my love of the first 2 albums (Our Love To Admire had already dented my love for them)

56 Danger Mouse & Sparklehorse 'Dark Night of the Soul'

Okay album but I've never really felt compelled to return to it.

55 Los Campesinos! 'Romance is Boring'

I quite enjoyed this. It doesn't have as many memorable tracks as their first two but I do always like it when I play it.

54 Example 'Won't Go Quietly'

53 No Age 'Everything in Between'

Not heard... I really should rectify that in the case of No Age though.

52 M.I.A. 'Maya'

It's okay but nowhere near as good as Kala or Arular. A few decent tracks though, XXXO has grown on me but on the whole it's like a worse version of Kala.

51 MGMT 'Congratulations'

Not heard, the debut put me off ever listening to them again.

50 Janelle Monae 'The ArchAndroid'

Love it. I do agree it's too long though, the second half is a nice enough listen on it's own but drags after the pace of the first half.

49 Jonsi 'Go'

Again, nice enough but it hasn't called me back too often.

48 These New Puritans 'Hidden'

Loved the single but found the album to be a bit too try hard at times. Okay enough though.

47 Cee-Lo Green 'The Lady Killer'

I downloaded this for £3 or whatever it is on Amazon but still haven't listened to it properly, it sounded quite disappointing from a quick skip through.

46 Owen Pallett 'Heartland'

Absolutely adore this. E Is For Estranged is one of my tracks of 2010, absolutely gorgeous.

45 I am Kloot 'Sky at Night'

44 Local Natives 'Gorilla Manor'

Not heard

43 Fang Island 'Fang Island'

Love this album but I do agree that Daisy is the best track.

42 Shout Out Louds 'Work'

41 Broken Bells 'Broken Bells'

40 Magnetic Man 'Magnetic Man'

Not heard.

39 Ellie Goulding 'Lights'

I found this to be almost entirely DULL. I quite like her songs individually (aside from the dire The Writer which is like something a horrid american teen star would leave as a b-side) but together it's just a bore.

38 Marina & The Diamonds 'The Family Jewels'

Loving this still. I know it's not perfect (some of the lyrics are really quite poor) but it has a certain spirit to it.

37 I Blame Coco 'The Constant'

This improves for me with each listen, the singles are definitely the highs though. It's not bad exactly, it just gets a bit too samey.

36 Blood Red Shoes 'Fire Like This'

35 Villagers 'Becoming a Jackal'

Another I downloaded but haven't really listened to properly but it seemed okay.

34 Best Coast 'Crazy For You'

Love this. I agree it's a great Summer record.

33 Belle and Sebastian 'Write About Love'

Definitely not as good as The Life Pursuit but not many albums are, at least half the tracks are pretty darn great if a bit more subtle.

32 Caribou 'Swim'

Adore it. One of my most listened to albums of the year.

31 The Drums 'The Drums'

I quite like these but again I get bored over a whole album, they definitely have their moments though and there is decent potential for the next album.

Let's see what I Know

54 Example 'Won't Go Quietly'

51 MGMT 'Congratulations'

39 Ellie Goulding 'Lights'

38 Marina & The Diamonds 'The Family Jewels'

well only four, MGMT's album wasn't that good as Oracular Spectacular imo.

I felt the same about it really but I downloaded it because it's Interpol. I wish I hadn't though really. I did quite like 'Our Love To Admire' though, it was only the last couple of tracks I didn't really rate.

56 Danger Mouse & Sparklehorse 'Dark Night of the Soul'

Okay album but I've never really felt compelled to return to it.

It's definitely not an album to return to, I doubt I'll keep more than about 5 tracks off it.

51 MGMT 'Congratulations'

Not heard, the debut put me off ever listening to them again.

Perfectly understandable really. The first half of their debut was very good but the second half was utterly dreadful.

50 Janelle Monae 'The ArchAndroid'

Love it. I do agree it's too long though, the second half is a nice enough listen on it's own but drags after the pace of the first half.

I do need to get around to making my own version removing about 20 minutes worth, it would be much better then.

47 Cee-Lo Green 'The Lady Killer'

I downloaded this for £3 or whatever it is on Amazon but still haven't listened to it properly, it sounded quite disappointing from a quick skip through.

It's not particularly varied, not much of it is massively different from 'f*** You'

37 I Blame Coco 'The Constant'

This improves for me with each listen, the singles are definitely the highs though. It's not bad exactly, it just gets a bit too samey.

It is a bit samey. I listened to it again this morning, but it is pretty much just there. It doesn't go anywhere.

Thanks Nick. Four isn't too bad for this site I don't think. You might like a couple more, maybe some of Janelle Moane and Best Coast.

30 Detroit Social Club 'Existance'

http://www3.hmv.co.uk/hmv/Large_Images/HMV/2730069.JPG

Northern indie which wouldn't have sounded out of place in the charts a couple of years ago, but this is far better than generic and rather consistant. The singles 'Prophecy' and 'Kiss the Sun' are both great but they're both topped by recent single 'Northern Man'.

'Black and White'

'Chemistry'

29 The Naked & Famous 'Passive Me, Agressive You'

http://www.thebrag.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/10/The%20Naked%20and%20Famous%20-%20Passive%20Me%20Aggressive%20You%202010.jpg

From New Zealand, the Naked & Famous were introduced to me in Unknown Pleasures with 'Young Blood'. Whilst that's a very good song and could well be a hit single in the near future, there is a lot better on the album which was a surprise to me, I didn't know what it would be like but it's very strong.

'Girls Like You'

'Spank'

47 Cee-Lo Green 'The Lady Killer'

45 I am Kloot 'Sky at Night'

38 Marina & The Diamonds 'The Family Jewels'

33 Belle and Sebastian 'Write About Love'

32 Caribou 'Swim'

All fantastic albums. I prefer 'Write about Love' to 'The Life Pursuit'.

Completely agree about Passive Me Aggressive You, brilliant album.

28 Band of Skulls 'Baby Darling Doll Face Honey'

http://www3.hmv.co.uk/hmv/Large_Images/HMV/YAHM004CD.JPG

Hailing from Southampton Band of Skulls remind me quite a bit of the White Stripes, male and a female in the band both of which sing at times. The style of music isn't too dissimilar either. I like these more than the White Stripes though because it's more consistant. It sounds very fresh throughout and is very varied. The only weak part is that most of the strongest songs are in the first half of the album.

'Patterns'

'Light of the Morning'

27 Kings of Leon 'Come Around Sundown'

http://www3.hmv.co.uk/hmv/Large_Images/HMV/KOL2010PRE.JPG

This is far from being a poor album, I'd say it's probably better than their last album but without the standouts which will prevent them from getting another big hit and this being anywhere near as big as 'Because of the Night'. It pretty much continues what they did with their last album, it's far more anthemic and made for stadiums than some of their previous material, but it's still a very good album.

'Back Down South'

I disagree with your positions of:

50 Janelle Monae 'The ArchAndroid' - I think is wonderful. It's refreshing to see a great pop artist do as well as she has and still produce such great music. I believe the EP which preeceeded this were of greater quality but even still this would be in my top 20 of the year.

48 These New Puritans 'Hidden' - Beautiful album. o: I don't listen to this anywhere near as much as I should but when I do I just think it's so different and special. It would be in my top 10 for sure.

44 Local Natives 'Gorilla Manor' - I'd have this a little higher as well. It is rather pleasant; not especially ground breaking but it certainly achieves what it sets out to do I think.

THIS. I saw her gig last summer and others went crazy when she started Born Free. I was like "dear god stick to what you do well".

I honestly couldn't believe that it was so bad the first time I heard it.

It certainly is. It might be higher if I listened to it more, I've not had it that long though.

I reckon I could make 'The ArchAndroid' into an album worthy of being in my top 20, I've just never listened to it not been bored. It is too long and there is 15 minute of filler on there, a lot of it is excellent though. Pleasant is how I'd describe Local Natives, it's good and nice enough but nothing particularly special.

I cut it down to make my own version and enjoy it much more (I added on the best few tracks from the last mini album too which makes it a fantastic whole)

55 Los Campesinos! 'Romance is Boring'

Their first two albums were great. I thought their third would be make or break for them as their second album wasn't really any different in sound to their debut. Again this just seems to be more of the same but with far less addictive hooks. A massive step backwards.

WHAT. Last.fm says i've played this album twice as much as any other so i'm afraid i just can't accept this opinion! I can agree with "more of the same" from tracks 2-9, though not inferior at all, but from then it's absolutely stunning. Listen to the last six tracks i urge you. The gloominess contrasts so well with their delightfully twee first album which for me makes it genuinely depressing, which isn't something i'd say about music very often/at all. At the same time it's still being quite poppy, maybe not so catchy and still has the same 'sound' they've always had, just a completely different tone. And the grotesque lyrics GAHH :3

I Blame Coco: The Constant

I found this a bit disappointing, I really expected more from it, for me the singles are actually the stand out tracks from the album. I hardly play it now, got bored with it very quickly.

Hi there'

thought I'd add my little bit of "insight" to the proceedings, commenting on the albums I have heard of course

60 jj 'No.3' This was quite a disappointment when I heard it coz a lot of people were really bigging up jj at the time. Do love the new single Let Them though.

53 No Age 'Everything in Between' Heard it once and it seemed ok but nothing for me to get really excited about

52 M.I.A. 'Maya' Really only two good tracks on this for me - Born Free and XXXO

48 These New Puritans 'Hidden' I honestly don't see what the fuss about this lot is. I think it would sound better as an instrumental album coz the vocals just make me want to stop listening after two tracks.

44 Local Natives 'Gorilla Manor' Loved Wide Eyes but the rest of it seems to pale into significance

41 Broken Bells 'Broken Bells' A good solid album but nothing spectacular

39 Ellie Goulding 'Lights' I am sick to the back teeth of Ellie Goulding and I must be alone on buzzjack holding that opinion. A completely boring album that just plods along

38 Marina & The Diamonds 'The Family Jewels' Meanwhile a strong contender for my album of the year. I love this to pieces.

34 Best Coast 'Crazy For You' Again nothing remarkable, there's far better stuff out there this year.

31 The Drums 'The Drums' I too adored The Summersun Ep (or whatever it's called) and could not stop playing it, heard the album and thought "oh, is that it?" A major opportunity wasted there, methinks.

What is your tracklisting for it, out of interest?

I really liked their first two albums because they were half an hour of wonderful, uplifting pop songs. This album manages to be the same and different at the same time and I just don't like it. You mention gloominess, I think that's possibly right, I just don't think it particularly suits them. I don't think that 'Too Many Flesh Suppers' is a match for most of their previous album, bit is one of this albums better tracks. The two singles were probably most similar to their two previous albums but they just sounded like cast-offs, 'There Are Listed Buildings' especially.
