When did you know that you was a true fan?

I became a Girls Aloud Loon from Something Kinda Oooh, I remember hearing that song and then loving them ever since.

Yes I liked their older material and was a fan. I remember "The Show" quite strongly and "Sound Of The Underground."

But it was Something Kinda Oooh that made me a true fan :)

This is actually a very good idea for a thread !

I basically discovered Girls Aloud at the end of the WWTNS?! era. "I'll stand by you" and "Wake me up" were the first songs of them that I listened, and I really really liked that. I started following them then, and I gradually became a huge fan.

I've always liked them since 'SOTU (single)' came out, but I really became a loon after 'Life Got Cold'
Well I've known of them and been aware of their (amazing) music since I first saw 'Sound of the Underground' on my TV, sometime in 2003 - followed by 'No Good Advice'. Then a year later, 'The Show' was released, which I absolutely loved at the time (and still do). It wasn't until I heard 'Can't Speak French' though that I became interested in their albums; received 'Tangled Up' for my birthday and eagerly awaited 'The Promise''s premier, buying the album once it was released and then being persuaded to go to the tour (after initally I thought it'd be embarrassing ). So yeah, I'd say a proper fan since May 2008, but have always liked their music. :)
Ive liked girls aloud since the very beginning i was 100% supporting them over one true voice. I do have to say though im really starting to of Cheryl, im not sure why maybe its over exposure but i think some of her comments on x factor and over her constant comments of how good a mentor she is is putting me off her.

I was totally hooked on 'No Good Advice' the moment I heard it, and it still remains their best. I also loved their cover of 'Jump' but I think when the WWTNS? album was released and I bought it I became a real fan.

As for Cheryl solo though... <_<

i've been a fan since the very beginning, i was addicted to popstars:the rivals and routed for the girls to win all along, especially because i knew of nadine from irish popstars i knew without a doubt she'd get in the band, fell in love with the other girls over the following months since them winning :) which was 8 years ago now, crickey! time flies!
I liked sound of the underground but no good advice was what really hooked me and i agree with silver rocket that no good advice for me is still their best single.
I became someone like casual follower when SOTU came out too, but then I felt like 'No Good Advice' was too similar for it, so was 'The Show', and I gave up on them. Years later, out of curiosity, I listened to 'Tangled Up!', and it has made the U-turn at my attention on them, especially 'Can't Speak French'. It's their best on par with 'The Show' (which grew on me massively year later) - that's what I think now.

SInce Popstars The Rivals started  Guess it was at the right time for me, the Spicey ones had disappeared, and I yearned for a new girl group!

As soon as I saw the final lineup I just knew it would be a huge success :D And it shows what happens when you release a good debut single  and not a ballady cover mush.

just a Cheryl Cole fan here ^_^

*waits to get attacked by the GA lovers/CC haters* :kink:

I do like quite a few GA tracks though but not enough to call myself a fan :(

I actually watched them on Pop Stars: The Rivals - voted for Nicola. :)

I have always followed Girls Aloud because I loved watching Pop Idol and Popstars and I liked them in the same way I liked Will Young and Hear'say. I didn't like Sound of the Underground AT ALL to start with, but overall they became one of those acts who always had "quite good songs". I bought their GH for this reason, and then when Sexy...No! No! No was released I fell into INSTANT LOVE for the first time with a GA song and that was it. Proper extreme fandom. I bought their back catalogue and then when The Promise came out I loved them EVEN MORE (if possible) and went to my very first gig! (Out of Control tour - May 2010.)

I want them back :( Cheryl's solo stuff is quite good and I want her to be very successful but I also resent her success when it took GA so long to reach such levels.

Loved them from the moment I first heard SOTU, which I bought on the day of release :D Lifelong fan!
Since the start - I was only 5!

At first I thought GA is just only a copy-cat of Spice Girls, so I didn't notice them so much, and I just love Sugababes at that time.

Until they released 'Chemistry', I try to buy the album, and it's good indeed. Then I love them until now :)

Long Hot Summer  I live in the US so i had never really heard of them, i don't really remember where i heard their name first, i assume it was on a music forum somewhere but they sounded interesting so i checked them out, Long Hot Summer was the first song I heard from them as that was their current single when i discovered them and i loved it, i thought it was a really good fun song, i didn't realize at the time it was actually considered one of their wort singles  , i still love it though, and i still think the chemistry album is my favorite album.

Watched them on Popstars, was a casual fan for a while, didn't buy any of their releases. It was 'Wake Me Up' that made me a super fan of them and it's still one of my favourite songs ever by them.
I've always liked them since 'SOTU (single)' came out, but I really became a loon after 'Life Got Cold'

Snap!

I loved SOTU and NGA but once I heard Life Got Cold I was like WOW!
