Willow top of tree on midweek sales

Ten-year-old Willow could be on course to emulate her dad Will Smith this weekend as her debut single Whip My Hair battles Black Eyed Peas to top the UK singles chart.

Willow’s Rock Nation/Columbia release is currently around 2,000 sales ahead of Black Eyed Peas’ The Time (Dirty Bit), which OCC reports has more than doubled its sales on the week after the Interscope/Polydor act performed on last Sunday’s X Factor results show.

Willow’s dad Will reached number one on the countdown in August 1997 with Men In Black, while the first instance of a father and daughter separately topping the chart was with Frank and Nancy Sinatra who also reached number one together in 1967 with Somethin’ Stupid.

The current number one, The X Factors Finalists 2010’s version of Heroes, is likely to make a sharp drop from the top this Sunday with the Syco single being outsold in the week so far not only by Willow and Black Eyed Peas but also by Polydor act Ellie Goulding’s Your Song and Def Jam/Mercury’s Only Girl (In The World) by Rihanna.

Michael Jackson is poised to make a chart return with his Sony-issued Akon duet Hold My Hand, the lead-off single from his posthumous album Michael, set to debut somewhere inside the Top 20. It is presently the 14th biggest seller of the week.

Also due to be among the new entries are Columbia’s Manic Street Preachers who are ranked currently in 26th spot with Some Kind Of Nothingness, which they performed last Sunday on BBC1’s Strictly Come Dancing. Meanwhile, Syco’s Alexandra Burke will move into the Top 40 with The Silence following her performance that same night on The X Factor.

Albums

Burke’s expanded version of her first album, Overcome, is leading the new releases on the albums market and finds itself in 19th place ahead of new sets from Epic’s Priests, Daft Punk with theirWalt Disney/EMI-issued Tron Legacy soundtrack, Warner’s Katherine Jenkins and Virgin’s Deadmau5.

Polydor’s Take That should spend a third week at one with The Progress, which is more than 20,000 sales ahead of the rest of the field. However, there is a battle going on for second place with just 2,000 sales separating Warner Bros act Michael Buble’s Crazy Love and Epic/Syco’s self-titled Olly Murs album.

There are unlikely to be any brand new entries in the Top 10, but Black Eyed Peas’ Interscope/Polydor album The Beginning and Columbia act Kings Of Leon’s Come Around Sundown both look like returning to the 10 this Sunday

PLEASE READ THESE RULES BEFORE POSTING

[01] Any member that is caught spamming, or trying to cause an argument to get a reaction will be severely warned with a ban for 7 days from posting on the forum.

[02] This is a mid thread for every artist do not go on and on and on about a certain artist to bring the board into disrepute.

[03] Please be patient when you are asking for a request, as you might not get an answer straight away.

[04] Any member asking for information that isn't in the updates we don't have, always read the topic before you post, I do not want to see questions like Where is Britney? repeated several times on every page of the thread, once is enough, bookmark the page if you don't have time to read all of the topic. Its not that hard.

[05] Do not use BLOCK CAPITALS when posting a sentence its considered as shouting and rude.

[06] Do not use Text Talk.

[07] Do not use a light colour font when posting please its hard to read the topic, not everyone has 100% vision.

[08] Please give a mention to who posted the chart info or the site name where you seen the mid info if you are copying and posting the chart info elsewhere, it takes forever trying to re-edit all the information up for you to see.

[09] Please do not post lists, or sales info unless you are told to by myself or a chart mod, if you do have sales info that you wish to share round them off to the nearest thousand and name your source, do not post precise sales figures.

[10] Regarding chart postions when posted when you see a sum/substraction for example 22+4, 40-7, if you add/subtract both figures together it gives you the actual position for the track. Its just simple addition or substraction. Go Figure.

Morning :)

Come on BEP's - never thought I would say that but I loved their performance on Sunday and I cannot stand that annoying little tramp that's currently #1 on iTunes.

Anybody have thoughts on Coldplay. Would love to see it jump into the Top 5 or even be Christmas No. 1...Maybe wishful thinking on my behalf!! Lol

Hope BEP won't get to #1!!!!!

I thought there were 4 robots on stage.

At first glance I read "The Priests with Alexandra Burke"

No way Manics will be in Top 40. Hope I'm wrong though

The Priests featuring Jesus - Epiphany

Hope BEP won't get to #1!!!!!

I agreed this song is worse song of the year, sadly they played a clever card by going on X-Factor So now its bound to be top3 lets hope album does reverse & goes down but i doubt it

Its so not worthy it was a bad performance live with a few cock ups

Totally agree.

Give me a min to update.

It's midweeks time.

Posted on December 7, 2010.

It's Tuesday lunchtime, and at DancePop that means a midweek chart update is in order.

It's good news for Willow Smith this week. The daughter of Will Smith is heading straight for number one this week with debut single 'Whip My Hair', if early sales figures are anything to go by. The track is outselling Black Eyed Peas' comeback track 'The Time' which is currently sitting at number two in the midweeks.

Also set to enter the top forty this week are new entries from Michael Jackson (number forteen) and Kylie Minogue with 'Better Than Today' (number seventeen). Alexanda Burke and Manic Street Preachers are also both on course for top forty positions.

Over in the midweek albums chart there's not very much going on at all. Black Eyed Peas look set to creep into the top ten with 'The Beginning', whilst Alexanda Burke should sail into the top twenty with the re-release of her album 'Overcome' (it's currently sitting at number nineteen)...
