When did it first leak? I'm not sure that's actually physically possible to have listened to it that much. If a song is 3 minutes long exactly and you played it continuously on a loop, it would be played 3,360 times in a week, so how the f*** can you listen to it over 10,000 times in the 'last 7 days'?!

it's premiered 3 days ago

Haha that's crazy! I'll never understand how someone can listen to a song thousands of times! :o

I guess those people must've tagged the demo the same as the official if it's not possible otherwise! But even that leaked only a few days before the actual song...

They usually cut the song into 45-or-so-second parts and listen to it like that. 4 scrobbles for 1 play :magic:

But then they're not even listening to the song really?!

I guess they just want to be 'top listener' or whatever haha.

People actually do that?

Yeah they wanna be top listeners

I have 161 plays so far. It's a long way to top plays of Womanizer (674) :heehee:

Yeah, i spoke to one of those 'top listeners' once and they confirmed they do that. But she was looning about the Turkey 2010 Eurovision song. How odd innit?
Could never understand how people get more than 100 plays. It's a major overkill for me. In fact only two songs managed that, before i reset my last.fm! :o I guess i'll never be a real loon for somebody. :(

HIAM is the 13th song for me and the 4th most played... (not including combined entries...)

Kelly Clarkson 'My Life Would Suck Without You' (350+ plays) - Leaked around the same time as HIAM did in 2009 . January's a quiet month for releases :(

Kelly Clarkson 'Already Gone' (200+ Plays)

Alicia Keys 'Try Sleeping With A Broken Heart' (175 Plays)

That fake Britney version is up to #124! 40+ places in half hour or so! There's obvious demand for it. Surprised people aren't buying the Instrumental though :s Just proves people don't listen to the clips/aren't bothered if it says "instrumental"
I was going to say I'm surprised the 'instrumental' isn't shooting up as opposed to the obvious fake one but I guess people just haven't listened to it and realised it's the real one! Wonder how long it'll be available for and if it eventually starts shooting up? :o

Billboard:

Quote:Threatening the reign of Mars' "Grenade" or the return of Perry's "Firework" to No. 1 next week will be the arrival of Britney Spears' "Hold It Against Me," which was released near-simultaneously at radio (Jan. 10) and exclusively at iTunes (Jan. 11). With airplay off to a blazing start and track sales set to exceed 400,000 according to industry sources, a second No. 1 debut for the pop starlet is likely. She previously started at the summit with "3" on the chart dated October 24, 2009.

24 NEW 1 Hold It Against Me, Britney Spears

I am obsessed with 'Hold It Against Me'   Its just TOO AMAZING

Can't wait to see Britney rule 2011 :dancing:

I really like this song! I think it's instant, catchy, dancey - everything a Britney song should be. I'm just amazed at the success of it! She seems to get BIGGER, years after everyone wrote her off. To see her hit #1 in all of those places is immense.

As for me, my lastfm has messed up big time (because I'm listening to it on repeat and it doesn't like it when I do that) but itunes tells me it's already one of my Top 5 most played songs. Loves it. I have a weird feeling that the UK will be the only country to give it a lukewarm (Top 3 at best) reception, similar to Womanizer and Gimme More. In a way, this song doesn't deserve #1 over all of her others that missed out so I'd both like and dislike that.

It's taken a good 25-30 listens but yes, I've been converted. This is amazing.
I'll never understand how someone can listen to a song so many times. My most played has never gone over 200, I like it that way, I hate ridiculously overplaying songs.
