April 9, 201114 yr I wonder have they done much voice training as they seriously need to improve before they perform, its a shame the backing singers are getting no credit as to be fair they sing must of the song.
April 9, 201114 yr Just went on DS and in the Music forum there's a thread saying Lipstick has been banned for being too similair to Bad Romance and being replaced with this: 8br3YbszB4c  Wouldn't it be replaced by Nikki? Not this can even be true, I don't recall any rules about not sounding similair to another song and anyway, it sounds nothing like BR! I don't believe it tbh... That must be a joke. I mean...must be?
April 21, 201114 yr Hasn't it been known forever that the UK couldn't vote for Jedward....but only now the newspapers are picking up on it. It's nothing new anyway and besides it is only 12 points. Some of them are talking like we could have gotten through on the Uk's votes alone.
April 21, 201114 yr Yes, it was decided many months ago what semi the UK would vote in, before the draw of the countries. It's just that no-one pays any attention to Eurovision here
April 21, 201114 yr If a song doesnt go through just because they lose out on a neighbours vote says enough in itself, jedward need to be pulling in votes everywhere to stand a chance so the uk been in or not in my opinion makes no overall difference.
April 22, 201114 yr Well, I'm very glad the UK can't vote for Jedward the less votes for them the better frankly.
April 22, 201114 yr I think we might get 8th-10th in the semi. The song does stand out, and you can bet anything a lot of young kids will love it. Even though the live performance is poor we might just scrape through. I hope they change their dance routine though, it's a bit boring....hopefully the larger stage will result in a more outrageous performance. I don't really care about the final result then, I'm usually perfectly happy once we make it to the final. Edited April 22, 201114 yr by Sabrewulf
April 22, 201114 yr The song itself is passable for me, something I would listen to happily enough but it's not very exciting. The problem for me is I really hate Jedward, I can imagine liking it much more if it wasn't them singing it. I'm hoping for 11th in the semi personally, but I do think if they qualify it will be very narrowly and I think 20-25th in the final beckons.
April 22, 201114 yr The problem with Ireland isn't necessarily the quality of the songs/singers, it's just that the song each year lacks the punch that is needed. 2009 was a great entry, but it needed to be a bit louder and more edgy, and 2010 was the same. The only positives for us this year is that we are sending a hugely catchy song that is being performed last in the semifinal. Obviously Jedward aren't good singers, but their performance (which is bound to be huge) will distract from this and we could gain enough votes to sneak into the final. I don't care where we end up in the final just as long as we qualify!
April 22, 201114 yr The studio has guilty pleasure written all over it, but they have the live singing ability of a tick or a GA member. i.e. NONE. This deserves to die a death in the Semi, we all remember what happened to Gemini don't we....
April 22, 201114 yr This deserves to die a death in the Semi, we all remember what happened to Gemini don't we.... Yes, the war in Iraq...
April 22, 201114 yr I'm not sure Jedward gyrating and jumping around like mental patients underoging electro-shock therapy is really going to make a good performance at any rate.
April 22, 201114 yr Yes, the war in Iraq... I didn't mean where they were slaughtered after they gave a diabolical performance.... :kink:
April 22, 201114 yr Vocally wise jedward are crap but they are lucky in that the backing singers sing quite alot of the song, this is the first year ever that i have no support for the irish entry as i truly cant stand jedward so i hope they dont make it out of the semi final.
April 22, 201114 yr Yes, the war in Iraq... I instinctively went to give this post the ESC EXPERT treatment before I saw who'd posted it you know :P
April 22, 201114 yr I instinctively went to give this post the ESC EXPERT treatment before I saw who'd posted it you know :P Damn, why is NOBODY biting! :(
May 2, 201114 yr I just read in norwegian newspaper that John have to sit in a wheelchair for the final week? is this true?
May 3, 201114 yr Vocally wise jedward are crap but they are lucky in that the backing singers sing quite alot of the song, this is the first year ever that i have no support for the irish entry as i truly cant stand jedward so i hope they dont make it out of the semi final. Lucky? Are you sure? The backing singers were rubbish in the live performance. Jedward actually have nicer sounding voices than those backing singers, and that's saying something. Maybe it wasn't all the backing singers, but least one of the backing singers had some weird nasally thing going on with their voice. Listen to the song again, it's like their singing "gawwwn gawwwn gawwwn" instead of "gone gone gone". Edited May 3, 201114 yr by Sabrewulf
