Ew. Bling's song is a bit boring. The Vard Sisters' song is a bit churchy!

Don's song is ever so The Script! :o

Nikki's is REALLY good! This will give Jedward a run for their money. Can see this winning Eurosong is the juries hate Jedward!

You'll be able to hear the songs in full on Derek Mooney's show of 2FM (or Radio 1?) on Thursday. :)

That is what I thought too Cal! :o

There's three songs I think sound promising, Talking With Jennifer, Lipstick and Falling.

Send me an angel...seems a bit less interesting but it may have a haunting live performance and Shine on....not sure I think it might actually be the weakest.

However the quality seems good this year, I'm feeling a bit more hopeful.

I'd rank them:

1. Falling (Nikki Kavanagh)

2. Lipstick (Jedward)

3. Talking With Jennifer (Don Mescal)

4. Send Me An Angel (The Vard Sisters)

5. Shine On (Tammy & Friends) (That's not their real name btw, just the name of one :P)

I watched the documentary and heard the clips. I think "Talking With Jennifer" and "Falling" are the standouts for me at the moment. The first was a very pleasant listen and Falling sounded like it could be popular in other European countries.

Jedward's song "Lipstick" was pretty enjoyable. If they win, which seems rather likely, then I hope they can pull off good vocals on the Eurovision stage. Then again, they have many haters so maybe they won't win? I know you can't vote to NOT make someone win though.

"Shine On" was bland. I don't see it doing well at Eurovision at all.

"Send Me An Angel" was pretty. I think it has potential to do well because it would stand out among the other songs.

The Liam Lawton song with the vard sisters is the sound i was fully expecting and although it sounds quite ok for the irish market from what we heard i could see it totally flopping at eurovision.

The Don Mescal song although more promising than the vard sisters from what i heard on the show seems forgettable and would fit the uk entry a few years from jamie foxx hold on to our love( i think was the name) and again i couldnt see it doing well

The Nikki Kavanagh song seems very different and to be honest im not sure of this song and would need to hear it in full, from what i can make of the song so far it MIGHT stand a chance of qualifying although it doesnt sound like a winning song but comparing to the above to it would fit the european audience far wider where as the above two are irish market only in my opinion.

The Willie Kavanagh song shine on when the orchestra sound was added sounded quiet promising and i like how he wants an anthemic sound which is something i think goes down well at eurovision, and has potential but again i really need to hear the song in its entirety.

Lipstick performed by jedward again doesnt seem anything wow, and i dont think pop usually does very well at eurovision and again jedward are not great vocalists and i cant see them delivering a strong vocal performance should they go through and i think caroline downey desmond doesnt fully understand that style of pop doesnt serve well at eurovision.

So from what i heard i think shine on or the nicki kavanagh song sound most promising, but again going from what i have heard i dont think rte will have to worry about hosting eurovision 2012, but again what do i know, i thought the last 2 entries by ireland were great and i loved sinead molvey etcetera and niamh kavanaghs its for you and look how they did, on the other side i though the german winning song last year was awful, so i probabaly dont have a clue what i am talking about!!!!

The producers of the Jedward song really gave the impression that it took ALOT of work to get one good solid vocal take on the track

Well i cant say that sounds hard to believe, jedward are entertainers in my opinion and not singers, but i will hold back judgement until i hear them perform live on friday night, as i said in earlier posts i dont mind jedward going through if they have the best song with good vocals, my fear is people are just gona vote for them as its jedward, on the other hand people are saying people will vote against jedward but for that to really be pulled of people would want to decide on what 1 song to vote for.

Also have we heard the latest? The vote will be 33% public and 67% juries on Friday.
Yup, a "punishment" for the Amazon leak. Stupid. Leaks happened before and nothing was done.
Good.

I'd be more understanding if it was leaked onto youtube without permission by some random person, but the label were (or should've been) aware of the rules which stated that leaks weren't permitted, so it's their own fault by allowing Amazon to have a preview of the song. It's not fair on the other contestants, so RTÉ have made the right decision in changing the voting. Anyway, the juries seem to always choose the best song on Eurosong, so if Jedward are the best on the night then they shouldn't have any problems.

The voting change sounds odd, I thought RTÉ would've wanted Jedward to get sent, as it could draw more ratings for them in May. I did think that otherwise, why even let them take part, but I guess it'll get them more ratings next Friday night and give more press to the selection on the whole.

I would quite like to see Jedward perform at Eurovision, but if the song that gets sent instead is really good and manages to qualify for the final, I'll still be really happy with that :D

For anybody who missed the show last night, here are the snippets in one video:

Infinitely better than last year's selection.

I think they might just not want a complete one horse race. Other acts may now actually have a chance! :o

Also it wasn't RTE that choose Jedward really, it was the mentor. (who was chosen by RTE)

I agree Pavel, this selection is miles better than last year. Last year the only respectable song was It's for you, whereas this time around there's at least 3/4 respectable songs.

Would it be wrong to say I'm getting a slight drip drop vibe from Falling? Hmm.....not exactly complaining though. We need something sexy....oh and a great song too obviously. :P
