Posted December 19, 201014 yr Not a bad christmas chart compared to last year....pity the spice girls got to no1 again tho with an even worse song than the last year.but with that they did become the first act since the beatles to have 3 christmas no1s in a row which is some achievement. the chef from south park entered just behind at no2 and the massive selling 'believe' by cher was top 5. any memories or sales info would be greatly appreciated!! December 19, 201014 yr This is the first Christmas chart I actually listened to/followed. Good times. Not the most exciting battle (bar the closeness of the top 2) but still has a place in my heart for that reason [/cheesyness] Also, Denise & Johnny was the first single I actually owned!! :blush: How embarrassing. Best songs in the chart: Ace of Base at #16 (how on earth was this not a huge hit!? :no: Mind you, they were way out of relevance by then), Cher at #4, Robbie Williams at #19, All Saints at #25 and Madonna at #32. Lots of nice Wintery ballads here! Edited December 19, 201014 yr by superbossanova

December 19, 201014 yr This is a truly incredible chart, and like Superbossanova, the first xmas chart I listened to, in fact I only started listening to the chart weekly from the first week of November 1998 onwards - trying to keep track of Cher, The Corrs and Ace of Base! 01. Spice Girls - Goodbye 04. Cher - Believe One of my favourite songs of all time, what a career revival! 05. B*Witched - To You I Belong Beautiful song, their best by a mile 06. Steps - Heartbeat/Tragedy 07. The Honeyz - End Of The Line Love this and it takes me right back to late 1998, been unfairly forgotten about though :( 08. Bryan Adams Featuring Melanie C - When You're Gone 09. Billie Piper - She Wants You 11. Will Smith - Miami 13. Emilia - Big Big World 14. Mariah Carey And Whitney Houston - When You Believe 15. Boyzone - I Love The Way You Love Me One of my favourite Boyzone songs, love the strings in it 16. Ace Of Base - Always Have, Always Will Amazing song, the first single I bought for myself, so feelgood! 17. The Vengaboys - Up And Down 18. Aqua - Good Morning Sunshine 19. Robbie Williams - No Regrets/Antmusic 20. Alda - Girls Night Out This was rather hilarious 'and we'll always have a reunion, when we're married and cooking an onion' :D 23. Celine Dion And R Kelly - I'm Your Angel 25. All Saints - War Of Nerves 26. Savage Garden - I Want You '98 27. Aerosmith - I Don't Want To Miss A Thing 28. Lutricia McNeal - The Greatest Love You'll Never Know 29. Five - Until The Time Is Through 32. Madonna - The Power Of Good-Bye/Little Star Stunning song, the best on the Ray Of Light album imo 34. The Corrs - So Young :wub: The first single I owned (it was bought for me though) 35. Sash! Featuring Shannon - Move Mania 37. Manic Street Preachers - The Everlasting 40. Bing Crosby - White Christmas {1998}
December 19, 201014 yr Goodbye was Spice Girls second fastest selling single selling 381,000 just beating Chef (373,000). The top 5 were all over 120,000 and you needed 50000 sales to make the top 10.
December 19, 201014 yr goodbye for me is the best of the spice girls 3 xmas number 1's. the 'look for the rainbow in every storm, fly like an angel heaven sent to me' line is beautiful.
December 19, 201014 yr This is a truly incredible chart, and like Superbossanova, the first xmas chart I listened to, in fact I only started listening to the chart weekly from the first week of November 1998 onwards - trying to keep track of Cher, The Corrs and Ace of Base! I started listening in June 1998, when 3 Lions was #1! So that's 20/06/1998, when I was just about to turn 7 y.o :o Mind you, I didn't enter my chart-freakish phase until the start of 1999. I started way young either way, lol. Strange child I was. Needless to say I'm not as bad as I was then (outside of this forum anyway :D) Good picks, by the way! And thanks for the sales, Fiesta! I knew about the top two sales but good to see sales were massive pretty much across the board.
December 19, 201014 yr Goodbye is one of my favourite Spice Girl songs its beautiful! Its sales as of June 09 are 862,524 If anyone has more up to date figures please post!
December 19, 201014 yr 38. Barefoot Man - Big Panty Woman This sounds like it is possibly the most terrible (non-X Factor) song in the history of existance. Christmas does funny things to people. A lot of variety in this Christmas chart. Oh how I miss it.

Goodbye is one of my favourite Spice Girl songs its beautiful! December 20, 201014 yr Suck all my chocolate salty balls! Put'em in your mouth and suck'em! E-P-I-C! South Park wasn't yet shown in my country back then, so when I first saw the video for CSB on MTV, it was the first time ever I came across the show. Edited December 20, 201014 yr by N-S
December 21, 201014 yr Excited about what? :unsure: There's loads of 'novelty' songs in this chart... there are some Christmas charts that have a great mix of songs I love and novelty songs which I also love- I dont know an awful lot of these, and there are still some 'novelty' songs, but I preferred other years personally :( Edited December 21, 201014 yr by chart wizard
