Cardle holding strong

Singles

In the singles chart, X Factor winner Matt Cardle’s When We Collide looks certain to retain the number one spot after outselling its nearest rival by a margin of three to one.

And although she might miss out on a number one debut, Katy B feat. Ms Dynamite’s Lights On (Columbia) is on course for an impressive showing at number two, ahead of Rihanna feat. Drake¹s What’s My Name (Def Jam), Black Eyed Peas’ The Time (Dirty Bit) (Interscope) and Ellie Goulding’s Your Song (Polydor).

In a depressed week for single sales overall, the only tracks to post week-on-week rises in chart’s upper reaches ¬ (bar Katy B and Ms Dynamite’s sole new entry) are The Pogues feat. Kirsty MacColl’s Fairytale Of New York and Tinie Tempah feat. Kelly Rowland’s Invincible, which is poised to return to the top 20

Albums

The race for the Christmas number one single may over for this year, but last-minute gift-buyers are giving the albums market a huge boost in the final days before the festive break.

Early retail reports indicate sales of Take That¹s Progress passed the 90,000 mark over the last two days. This tally pushes sales of the album, already 2010¹s biggest-seller, beyond the 1.5m mark after less than six weeks at retail.

Another beneficiary of the last-minute rush is Michael Buble, whose Reprise-released Crazy Love is selling 40% more copies than at this stage last week and is likely to remain in the top three of 2010’s final albums chart, below Rihanna’s Loud.

After getting off to a slow start last week, Michael Jackson’s Epic- and posthumous-released Michael continues to under-perform: it is destined course to slip out of the albums top five this Sunday with sales plummeting by more than 50% week-on-week.

PLEASE READ THESE RULES BEFORE POSTING

[01] Any member that is caught spamming, or trying to cause an argument to get a reaction will be severely warned with a ban for 7 days from posting on the forum.

[02] This is a mid thread for every artist do not go on and on and on about a certain artist to bring the board into disrepute.

[03] Please be patient when you are asking for a request, as you might not get an answer straight away.

[04] Any member asking for information that isn't in the updates we don't have, always read the topic before you post, I do not want to see questions like Where is Britney? repeated several times on every page of the thread, once is enough, bookmark the page if you don't have time to read all of the topic. Its not that hard.

[05] Do not use BLOCK CAPITALS when posting a sentence its considered as shouting and rude.

[06] Do not use Text Talk.

[07] Do not use a light colour font when posting please its hard to read the topic, not everyone has 100% vision.

[08] Please give a mention to who posted the chart info or the site name where you seen the mid info if you are copying and posting the chart info elsewhere, it takes forever trying to re-edit all the information up for you to see.

[09] Please do not post lists, or sales info unless you are told to by myself or a chart mod, if you do have sales info that you wish to share round them off to the nearest thousand and name your source, do not post precise sales figures.

[10] Regarding chart postions when posted when you see a sum/substraction for example 22+4, 40-7, if you add/subtract both figures together it gives you the actual position for the track. Its just simple addition or substraction. Go Figure.

I just like to say before the mids appear, thanks for all your support for the past year and to all co-mods for all their hard work behind the scenes to bringing you the mids every week.

Sales Info and mids will probably be thin on the ground next week due to MW taking a Xmas break. Normal services will probably resume on the 3rd or the 4th of Jan.

Have a Merry Christmas everyone.

Awwww, thanks  Merry Christmas to you too :cheer:

I'm wondering a bit if we'll get mids all week...

Looks like it will be another BIG week for Rihanna in the UK!

"Loud" has posted almost exactly the same sale as it did this time last week - so her post X-Factor bounce has continued into this week!

Bear in mind, though, that this is a "short" week, so it's unlikely that she will match last week's total, with a day less in which to do so.

Unless there's a thaw and Christmas Eve sales are through the roof!

That said, "What's My Name" has dropped off by 49.9%, and is down to #3.

^From Ukmix

By deduction Katy B is probably #2 then. I don't know where UKMix get their info...

Katy B must be #2 then ...

Still nothing from Music Week, although their site HAS been updated this morning. Hopefully they’re on their way, I’m sure we got mids on the Tuesday and Wednesday of Xmas week last year (although not Xmas Eve) so I’m hopeful.
I'm guessing Katy B is #2 then. I can see Rihanna getting it by the end of the week though.

I'm assuming the singles top 3 is looking like this

1 Matt Cardle

2 Katy B/Ms Dynamite

3 Rihanna/Drake

So Matt outselling his nearest rival by 3:1 - he must surely get a 3rd week at No 1 next week then.

I'm a lurker here every week and just want to say thanks and Merry Christmas to all the regular posters, and especially to the guys who post the info.

You are welcome. Thanks for posting!

Progress looking at another 300K week - up over 14% on the same stage last week - however with the combination of it not having the huge sales day of Sat (Xmas day) and the dreadful weather - I highly doubt it will maintain that increase - it should do at least 250K thought.
