Lady GaGa by a long shot, produced some of the best pop music in the last few years.
I'm not a fan of all of them but for me Lady GaGa seems to be the most talented out of them.
Out of those... Katy Perry, by far.

Leona Lewis ;) Haha, i joke.

Rihanna, she's the best live singer out of all 3 of them. & i have been fortunate to whitness them all perform, so I know she is the best vocalist live.

& Also, Loud is a master piece, just like Teenage Dream & The Fame(Monster) is.

They're all amazing, in they're own little ways. ;)

Vote for Rihanna. I just prefer her music, and I think you can relate to her more than to Lady Gaga, for example. Rihanna is a normal girl, Gaga is a goddess: She's great, but different to us all.
It's obvious who I've voted for. I've voted for the best singer out of the three, the one who has had the most top 2 hits out of the three, the one that has the best production on her songs and the one that has been around for the longest, the one who doesn't wear weird clothes but has the weirdest hair. I voted for the singer that has worked with the greatest rapper of all time and a new rap talent, voted for the singer who can sing over dance, pop, rap, rock AND r&b songs. Yes I voted for the singer that is in my sig not once but TWO TIMES as of this date, and you could say I am looning.

I am glad Rihanna has beaten lady gaga. I like Gaga but i find people big her up too much yet she has only done era really. Let her do another 3 albums and then kiss her backside and proclaim her as the so called madonna. But i respect others opinion. Just giving mine regarding it. :)

Rihanna isn't even in the competition for me. I haven't liked anything she's released Good Girl Gone Bad.

I have a love/hate relationship with Katy Perry. She annoys me no end sometimes, but Teenage Dream has been a good phase for me.

I voted Gaga. I know she's incredibly overhyped and it took me a long time to see past all the costumes and stupid shoes. But every time she starts to annoy me and I start doubting whether I still like her, I only have to watch an acoustic performance of something like Brown Eyes or Speechless to remember how talented she is. It wasn't until I saw her do the piano version of Telephone at the Brits that I even considered her to be a genuine artist and now I love her to bits.

I predict a LANDSLIDE for Gaga.

FAIL.

I voted Rihanna like most people on Buzzjack.

Cause she's good and nothing as overrated as Lady Gaga.

She's not different, she only pretends to be a weirdo. She has gradually become some kind of alien, but if you look back at 'Just dance', that's like the most random teen video ever with people dancing and getting drunk etc etc. Now she pretends to be "different" because that's what her brand is all about, but it's just so fake.

FAIL.

OK let's accept that GaGa is overrated for a minute. Can you give me a reason why Rihanna is not?

People don't credit Rihanna for much, except being pretty and releasing good songs. Actually people tend to think she's rubbish live and she's not really known for her great input in the stuff she releases. So no, she's not overrated. People take her for what she is, a popstar with good tunes.

On the other hand, people tend to think Lady GaGa is the new Madonna but 100 times better, that she is the 8th wonder of the world, that she will save the world and that she will cure cancer and aids, when all she does is releasing good pop songs and acting like a dick/weirdo. So yes, she is overrated.

i don't think any of those (apart that she gave her touch in the pop music scene)! But i found that line ridiculous:

"that she will save the world and that she will cure cancer and aids"

You should be happy that people think that there's hope for cure, even if it's given by any artist and even if that cure doesn't exist!

I don't get what you mean. No one is against cure for cancer. I'm just not sure Lady GaGa is the one to bring it to the world.

And anyway, that was just my opinion. I hate how her fans ask for justification everytime you say something negative about her.

I never rejected your opinion. Calm down! It's discussion and if you don't want you don't reply! i just found ridiculous that specific line!

Rihanna might have 3 hits in the top 10 at the moment, breaking records all over the place, etc.

But if we ignore the charts. Just like what people say. With Rihanna, it's usually like "Oh, I like some of her songs", "She's a good performer, but she can't sing", "I liked Umbrella, a pity she didn't write it", things like that. You hear moderate good and bad things about Rihanna. Most people like some of her songs, and hate other ones. She's just like a pop star that has a lot of catchy songs, that has been around for a few years.

With Lady Gaga, on the other hand, despite only having been around since 2008, it's "She's the best thing to happen to music in 20 years", "Bad Romance is the best pop song of all-time", "Who's better, Lady Gaga or Elvis Presley?", "Lady Gaga is so original. Better than all that RnB trash in the charts", "Lady Gaga is better than Madonna". Well, it was like that in 2009 anyway, and it was really frustrating.

People are getting a bit more sensible and open-minded now, but I still have difficulty saying "I think Just Dance and Poker Face sound the same, and are very generic". I get a bunch of people telling me "No they're not. They're compeltely different, and no song like them has ever been made before." With Rihanna, I've been going around recently pointing out that Only Girl and S&M are quite similar. The general reaction when I say that is "Yeah, they are sort of similar. They both sound like David Guetta songs. I still love them though!" Do you know what I mean? With Lady Gaga, a lot of people just give her such over the top praise all the time. With Rihanna, people don't seem to get so defensive and irrational if you point out that a couple of her songs sound similar, or if you suggest a song of hers samples another song, or something like that.

If you have a conversation with most people about Rihanna, you can discuss both pro's and cons of her and her songs. With Lady Gaga, with some people, you can't discuss cons, because there aren't any. She's perfect!

"She's the best thing to happen to music in 20 years" NOT

"Bad Romance is the best pop song of all-time" NOT

"Who's better, Lady Gaga or Elvis Presley?" Elvis

"Lady Gaga is so original. Better than all that RnB trash in the charts" I think is original in a way. And imo, her songs are better than a lot of other rnb songs at the moment!

"Lady Gaga is better than Madonna" NOT. In 30 years maybe!

I got your point! You've got right at most of what you said! I'm an obsessed fan of GaGa but i try to have a good conversation although some times don't make it

Basically i name an artist overrated if mainly he can't sing live, but still it's huge. I hate this!

But if we consider those things you mentioned, then yes GaGa is overrated. And Rihanna and of course Katy (live is bloody awful).

But what makes an artist overrated? All those things are opinions (yes overrated), but still opinions that most times are mentioned without thinking (possessed by obsession)! Shouldn't voice skills and music released from an artist being the main reason to call him overrated ?

See, you're not too bad! :) It's okay to like Gaga, but some people seem to borderline worship her!

I think the Gaga is probably the most overrated artist since I've started following mainstream music properly. Like JLS get lots of #1s, and Justin Bieber gets lots of youtube views, and things like that, but people are constantly criticizing them, to the point that I actually think their songs are underrated, but with Lady Gaga it just seems so one-sided, in general. Also, with the Lady Gaga/Madonna thing, that's another thing that annoys me a bit. How people expect her to be around in 30 years. If I said I expect Katy Perry to be around in 30 years, I'd be mocked. And the funny thing is, I bet when Usher got his first UK #1 in 1998, people would've laughed if someone suggested he'd have one of the biggest songs in the world in 2010.

But what makes an artist overrated? All those things are opinions (yes overrated), but still opinions that most times are mentioned without thinking (possessed by obsession)! Shouldn't voice skills and music released from an artist being the main reason to call him overrated ?

For me, voice skills, not so much. It's nice to know an artist I like is a really good live singer, but if they're not. Who cares? A huge proportion of the music on my mp3 player are either completely instrumental, predominantly rapping, or contain a lot of vocal effects. Some songs, such as Alejandro by Lady Gaga, Commander by Kelly Rowland, etc, I have just instrumental versions, because I LOVE the beats, but I feel the vocals detract from them.

Music released, definitely! It's primarily about the music for me, because at the end of the day, that's what I'm listening to. If an artist I like can't sing, so what? I don't have any live versions of songs on my mp3 player (apart from You Got the Dirtee Love, and I think I have a live version of Numb/Encore, and probably a couple of others too). But most of what I listen to, if they even contain vocals in the first place, are studio recordings. Artists are given a decent amount of time to get their vocals right, so even those that aren't great live singers can get it pretty decent after a few tries, and if all comes to the worst, there's the technology to touch it up a bit.

Let's do it this way. Lady Gaga, according to some, is the best singer on the planet at the moment, and Cheryl Cole is one of the worst singers (she's not actually that bad, in my opinion. I watched her doing the Live Loungue the other day). However, whether it's Cheryl or Gaga singing Poker Face, I don't like Poker Face. Whether it's Cheryl or Gaga singing 3 Words, I love 3 Words. I love the song, not the artist. I come to love an artist when they constantly release a stream of songs, one after another, and I love nearly all of them.
