Eleven years after I began this list of forthcoming UK singles and albums on Dotmusic, I'm finally back at the helm after passing the job when I went to university in 2004. Many thanks to ManicKangaroo who has done a fantastic job over the years.

Now, with the physical singles market falling off a cliff, the fact of the matter is only around 25% of top 40 records are actually released on CD or vinyl these days. It's becoming increasingly difficult to find out which singles will be given a full release, so from now on it is best to assume that they won't. Anything that I know is definitely (or likely) to be released on CD single I will asterisk* and on 7" and/or 12" vinyl I will signify with a dagger†.

I have now merged the singles and albums lists together and I'm afraid I have decided that I will only list albums by established artists, or those who are getting some mainstream media support - i.e. anything which has a chance of reaching the top 100. If anybody wishes to compile a more comprehensive albums list, please feel free.

I am supplementing the actual release list with a new "Tip Parade", inspired by the Netherlands' own Tipparade chart. It contains singles which have not yet reached the UK top 40 (as of the most recent Official Chart Update). It is loosely based on radio and music TV airplay, but I will also include other songs which are currently climbing the top 100 (e.g. the latest Rihanna and JLS singles). The chart is merely intended to give an indication of which singles are looking most likely to break into the top 40 over the next few weeks, and should not be taken as gospel!

As always, I need your help. Please reply to this thread with anything you have heard about upcoming UK single releases. If you could include your source, this would be very useful. If you have reason to believe any of the singles currently on the list will likely be released physically, please let me know.

'Skinny Genes' by Eliza Doolittle has - it peaked at #22.

Also, the Plan B song is called 'Love Goes Down' and the Funeral Party song is called 'Finale'.

Thank you for taking over this job anyway AcerBen :D

Adele Vs Bruno Mars in album chart :o I wonder who will come up on top.

Oops I didn't realise it had! But I will leave it in because it is now A-listed on Radio 1 and is heading back to the top 40 any time now.

Edit: Well I've taken it out since I had two number sixes by mistake LOL

Welcome back on board Ben, I remember you from the Dotmusic forums all those years ago. And the topic is pinned for you. Any problems that may arise just let me know or a chart mod will be at your disposal if needed.

P.S. I love the TIP Parade UK idea

wow 7th feb will hit my wallet in a good way though with new albums by the wombats, james blake and the streets!!

seems like the record companies STILL arent learning, pushing releases back weeks before cds go on sale.why has kesha moved to the 24th??if released now on download with radio support and the video already out the dload should be made available NOW and it will go top 40 easily.also you all know my opinion of adele and bruno mars new singles!!

I wondered who was gonna take this over - well done AcerBen! : :)

I have now merged the singles and albums lists together

That's a shame - I'll have to rejig my spreadsheet to separate them again. :P

I assume the ones in italics are the albums?

why do you keep a copy of the release schedule on spreadsheet?
P.S. I love the TIP Parade UK idea

Me too, thanks AcerBen ^_^

Didn't like Jodie Connor is only at #13 there though. :(

February 14

Lady GaGa - Born This Way*

 Its UK release date hasn't been confirmed yet?

The 14th is only the day after the premiere too...

So is the UK release of 'E.T.' now confirmed to feature Tinie Tempah?

I didn't realise it was only a rumour - so I know no more than you do!

Welcome back Ben, looking good :) The tip parade is a great idea. No release date for Clare Maguire - The Last Dance yet though? :/

Her album is out on the 28th Feb, it probably be the week before 21st Feb, just a hunch...

That's deffo the single is it? Will it add it next week

Why don't you just edit it now?

Can I ask, are these official lists? Because GaGa's new single is only premiering on February 13th, and the official release date for any country hasn't even been announced yet, so I doubt it would be on the schedule right now?

EDIT: Never mind, I've seen it moved. :D
