I swear I'm secretly a 14 year old girl.
January 9, 201114 yr I hate these things coz I can never decide on a definitive list and the only order I AM certain on is probably the top 5! But at the moment, it'd probably look something like this... 1: The Killers 'Mr Brightside' 2: Britney Spears 'Everytime' 3: Snow Patrol 'Run' 4: Sugababes 'About You Now' 5: N-Trance 'Set You Free' http://i51.tinypic.com/16h7pj6.jpghttp://i53.tinypic.com/9iyec7.jpghttp://i52.tinypic.com/2cp598w.jpghttp://i51.tinypic.com/260vf46.jpghttp://i53.tinypic.com/k0msg3.jpg 6: Kelly Clarkson 'Sober' 7: Kelly Clarkson 'Since U Been Gone' 8: The Calling 'Wherever You Will Go' 9: Shakespeare's Sister 'Stay' 10: Britney Spears 'Shadow' http://i54.tinypic.com/28jbbxv.jpghttp://i52.tinypic.com/25frndj.jpghttp://i56.tinypic.com/2ql6atg.jpghttp://i56.tinypic.com/1ox4ef.jpghttp://i55.tinypic.com/qsjln6.jpg Or something along those lines. Honourable mentions for; Britney Spears 'Stronger' & 'Gimme More', Mary J Blige (featuring. U2) 'One', Train 'Drops of Jupiter', Johnny Cash 'Hurt', Christina Aguilera 'The Voice Within', Alice Deejay 'Better Off Alone', Cascada 'Everytime We Touch', Alicia Keys 'No One', Kelly Clarkson 'Already Gone' & 'My Life Would Suck Without You', Keri Hilson 'Knock You Down' and Natalie Imbruglia 'Torn'. - I'm pretty sure there's others I've missed, but this was really hard! EDIT: I forgot to mention Eternal 'Angel of Mine'! :o
January 9, 201114 yr Why exactly? If I'd been asked to compile a list of my top ten favourite songs ever at the end of 1999, all of them would have been from 1998 and 1998, because I only took a noted interest in music in 1998, and didn't start tracking backwards until the early 00's. People like Regina are probably only just starting to LOVE/obsess over music, hence such recent tracks featuring. Just as well it wasn't a top 11, a certain Lena lies in 11th place in mine currently  As for the actual quality of the songs in each person's top ten - well, each to their own frankly. Why single me out? :heehee: True i did only get properly into music a few years ago but i think that music in the past 4 or so years is better than older msic :( To be fair, my list was based on which songs I loon over and the most played on my itunes, if i was to properly think about it, it would look more like (no order): 1. Kylie Minogue - All The Lovers 2. Kylie Minogue - Confide In Me 3. The Killers - Somebody Told Me 4. Sheryl Crow - Run Baby Run 5. Shania Twain - Whatever You Do! Don't! 6. Jennifer Lopez - Alive 7. Brandon Flowers - Crossfire 8. Alanis Morissette - Ironic 9. Faith Hill - If My Heart Had Wings 10. Dana Glover - Thinking Over 1. Brandon Flowers | Crossfire 2. Kylie Minogue | All The Lovers 3. Jennifer Lopez | What Is Love? 4. Alanis Morissette | Underneath 5. Kylie Minogue | Confide In Me 6. Brandon Flowers | Welcome To Fabulous Las Vegas 7. Jennifer Lopez | Alive 8. P!nk | f***in Perfect 9. Ed Drewett | Blink 10. Dana Glover | Thinking Over For now. So really, not much difference  ATL may only be a few months old but i think it is one of the finest songs Kylie has ever recorded. Yeah they are all fairly reent but they are the ones to make most impact.
January 9, 201114 yr Again i spent hours thinking which songs are my favorite! Damn, i get very emotional with some songs! And can't believe i left so many good songs out of the list. Read My Mind - The Killers (2006) [i barely listen this song. Brings me so much memories-nostalgia] 4. Come Together- The Beatles (1969) 5. Man In The Mirror - Michael Jackson (1987) 6. Mala Vida - Mano Negra/Manu Chao (1988) 7. Kids - MGMT (2007) 8. Rebellion (Lies) - Arcade Fire (2004) 9. Karma Police - Radiohead (1997) 10. Brimful of Asha (Fatboy Slim Remix) - Cornershop (1997)

Sorry, it was only because I noticed a lot of songs from your current chart in your all time list  And I actually agree with you on ATL, it's my favourite Kylie single to date - and I'm a life long fan of hers.

January 10, 201114 yr I must question why this is in the Pop Forum as this should be quite a general thing but whatever. No order as its too hard to decide so judge as you will. January 10, 201114 yr These lists are hilarious - most people are going for singles when the title is Songs _______________________ I went for Singles only coz it was easier off the top of my head...
January 10, 201114 yr These lists are hilarious - most people are going for singles when the title is Songs Last time i checked, singles are songs! I can't order these ones... At the moment I'd probably go with: Joy Division 'Love Will Tear Us Apart' New Order 'Blue Monday' The Pogues & Kirsty MacColl 'Fairytale of New York' Stone Roses 'I am the Resurrection' Blur 'Coffee and TV' Idlewild 'In Remote Part / Scottish Fiction' Muse 'New Born' Interpol 'Obstacle 1' Arcade Fire 'Rebellion (Lies)' Elbow 'One Day Like This' If i extended to another 10 then the following would all be close The Smiths 'This Charming Man', The Beatles 'Strawberry Fields Forever', The Cure 'Boys Don't Cry', Oasis 'Whatever', Blur 'Tender', Pulp 'Common People', The Killers 'Mr. Brightside', Robyn 'With Every Heartbeat', Animal Collective 'Summertime Clothes' and errr Lady Gaga & Beyonce 'Telephone'. You've got an amazing taste in music. I think i love every song from those you mentioned!
January 10, 201114 yr Artists do tend to pick their highlights as singles though, hence singles mostly appearing in these lists. Only 1 of my top 20 wasn't a single (Extraordinary Day) but it wouldn't have worked as one anyway, far too dark and depressing lyrically for the artist in question to have got away with releasing it standalone. And like Jark mentioned, the whole campaign - the video/styling/remixes/radio edits/hearing it on the radio, in clubs or on holiday and thus sparking future nostaliga, all contribute to the 'experience' of a song, at least they do to me. An album track has to be thoroughly spectacular to stand above everything else for me, when it's at an instant disadvantage due to the fact that the only time I will ever hear it is when I play it. Songs like Set You Free and Better Off Alone pop up literally everywhere I go and as cliched as it sounds, have defined important parts of my life, particularly when you hear them unexpectedly somewhere and memories are triggered.
January 10, 201114 yr A top 10 of all time is almost impossible to choose, but off the top of my head: Blur - The Universal Pulp - Disco 2000 Radiohead - Idioteque OutKast - Hey Ya! Yeah Yeah Yeahs - Maps The Smiths - There Is A Light That Never Goes Out Jeff Buckley - Lover, You Should've Come Over Gwen Stefani - What You Waiting For? The Beatles - Yesterday Prince - I Could Never Take The Place Of Your Man / When Doves Cry Bad Romance and Runaway could well creep up in there over time.
