rihanna is suffering the kylie ans sash mode, loads of number 2 hits

The only difference is Kylie has several #1s to boot, Rihanna and Sash! seem to be choc-a-block with #2 singles never reaching #1.

She has loads of fans who'll pick up a physical copy, top 5 next week I think. :D

I reckon it's miles and away the best single off the Confessions album so far...and the remixes are brilliant, too.

I'm amazed by the Pipettes placing. I thought they'd be top 10. It will climb - mark my words...they'll be the big word of mouth thing of the rest of the summer.

I didn't buy it, but I already had a promo so...

I do think so. The right single release next and good radio play (though Pull Shapes was no.25 in the airplay chart!) should push it up a bit. It also doesn't help that practically the only places you could buy it were HMV, independants and the 'net :(

Hmm, Pull Shapes really was the best choice for release...I was similarly surprised by that not to hit the top 10.

Most of their other key tunes have already been out.

I guess it's the fact they're girls :(

Yeah, that's certainly true. I'm usually dead against re-releases but Dirty Mind might just be the song to release... :(

Out of curiosity, do any of you know how many copies (or units) a single needs to sell to enter around the number 60 mark??

pleased for James Morrison

:o at Shayne Ward dropping in singles and albums.

I'm guessing about 5,000, bear in mind the Chili's at #16 with nearly 10k

5,000? :o For #60

Thanks for your thoughts although I do think it's a lot less than that.

Reason I asked was that the latest Gary Numan single (which was on 2 formats, both limited to 1800) entered at No-63 this week.

Was just interested to see how many of the 3600 it had sold to get to that number that's all.

Thanks.

Than it could be half, of what I guessed 2,500, sorry I exaggerated a far bit. :P .

The thing is you never can tell, in a good sales week, it could be much higher, but these days single sales are poor.

Jester!

One question about this single:

38. (NE) Ray Lamontagne - Trouble - (1wk - ECHO - ECSCD155)**

Are you sure with the label and catalogue no? Music Week printed that?

It was 2005 release. It entered the chart at 77 in March 2005.

He had changed his label since.

Shouldn't it have been 14th Floor, not Echo?

Hmmmm, from HMV.co.uk it is:

Release date: 29-5-2006

Availability: normally ships in 24 hours

Number of Discs: 1

Catalogue Number: 14FLR15CD

Label: 14THFLOOR

The information from 1-40 for label and catalogue numbers is generally from websites such as amazon and hmv, where it is a new entry and MW havent printed it previously. As this was a new entry and was revealed by Radio 1, obviously the wrong label was used, as it was the previous release.

I will go and correct it now.
