March 8, 201114 yr Tssssk. I gambled on this being Amazon's mp3 album of the week so didn't buy it. Now I only have REM to listen to. :( It's £5 on 7Digital.

March 8, 201114 yr Biggest danish music site just gave this 6/6 stars. Might give this a go.. It should have got at least 7 :D
March 8, 201114 yr It's £5 on 7Digital. I ended up getting the physical for £7.99 on Amazon instead - and it's been dispatched now so can't go back. Thanks none the less though, wish I'd checked there first now!
March 8, 201114 yr I will listen to this on spotify later :D shame its not going to number 1 :( getting really good reviews though- on AnyDecentmusic, the lowest there is a 6 Edited March 8, 201114 yr by chart wizard
March 9, 201114 yr I ended up getting the physical for £7.99 on Amazon instead - and it's been dispatched now so can't go back. Thanks none the less though, wish I'd checked there first now! Most high-ish profile releases are a fiver there on release week. Noah and The Whale are. Jessie J and Lykke Li still are from last week...
March 11, 201114 yr I've finally got round to listening to this after downloading it on Monday, I wanted my first listen to be a time when I can actually concentrate on it and I'm not busy/hungover/revising at the same time. It seems wonderful, 'Lippy Kids' is fantastic.
March 11, 201114 yr As usual with an Elbow album, I found my first listen to be dull and the album struggled to hold my attention.
March 11, 201114 yr As usual with an Elbow album, I found my first listen to be dull and the album struggled to hold my attention. Likewise here, and on the 2nd and 3rd listen too. I hope my perception of it changes though, given its popularity in this thread.
March 15, 201114 yr It does tail off a bit in the middle but it's generally another really good effort. I love 'Lippy Kids', 'Neat Little Rows', 'With Love' and 'Open Arms'
March 16, 201114 yr While listening to it again today I thought I'd try and guess which songs would open and close the main set and which would be the last song of the encore on their current tour. If the set list from Glasgow yesterday is anything to go by, I got three out of three. Twelve days to go to the O2 :cheer:
March 16, 201114 yr Elbow are a band I like listening to - but really hate watching.... they look like lager louts dragged out of the pub to do a karaoke session - the least video-friendly band about, has to be said. The album's a good album..... not a great one - there's definite fillers there. I think Elbow will be a band who, for the forseeable future, will be media darlings - all the reviewers seem to love them, they can do no wrong. They'll never be a single chart-topping band as their audience simply cant be arsed with buying singles.... but I think they're well on the way to being Britain's biggest band right now. And whilst I like this album, I don't love it - I think there's much better to come, maybe next time. Oh, and the artwork's bloody awful - what were they thinking? :o
March 17, 201114 yr They are performing 'Open Arms' on Comic Relief tomorrow. Excellent news. I won't be seeing it as I'm out tomorrow evening - my brother's last day of freedom before getting married :o
March 17, 201114 yr I've decided I quite like this album after all. Here's a rough rank: 07|The Birds 07|Lippy Kids 06|With Love 08|Neat Little Rows 07|Jesus Is A Rochdale Girl 05|The Night Will Always Win 08|High Ideals 08|The River 09|Open Arms 05|The Birds (Reprise) 06|Dear Friends So it's growing on me in usual Elbow style.
March 18, 201114 yr Whilst I do like "Open Arms" my favourite on the album is without a doubt "Dear Friends".
March 18, 201114 yr This requires more listens than 'Seldom Seen Kid' but I think it's worth it. Can't really name the absolute highlight yet
