Posted January 20, 201114 yr Surprised there's no thread on this - new satirical news show with Jimy Carr, David Mitchell, Charlie Brooker and some woman. JoQ4Shg29zo
January 20, 201114 yr Lauren Laverne isn't just "some woman" :o I'll assume her band Kenickie were before your time but she's a BBC 6Music presenter (not recently as she's been on maternity leave). She has presented Glastonbury coverage in the past and appeared on programmes such as Buzzcocks. She should be good - better than Jimmy Carr for a start.
January 20, 201114 yr Author I'll be honest, I couldn't remember who it was and couldn't be bothered to look it up
January 20, 201114 yr As expected, it was patchy. I suspect there will be changes to the format by the end of the series.
February 4, 201114 yr The makers are conducting a survey to see what viewers think. http://surveys.survation.com/s3/10OClockshow1
February 5, 201114 yr On paper this should be great, but in reality... David Mitchell in particular I think doesn't seem entirely comfortable. I think the whole idea of the show is really that the comedians are supposed to be in control, but tonight for instance I think he was totally outmanoeuvred by Caroline Lucas, and could barely get a snide remark or joke in edgeways. It's just not clicking at all.
February 5, 201114 yr Overall I think David Mitchell is the best of the four presenters. It's still hard to work out what Lauren Laverne's role is. No doubt they wanted to avoid an all-male team but couldn't they find a female comic? I think it might work better if it was on 2-3 times a week in a 45 minute slot. That would help it to get established more. As they seem to concentrate on the news over the last couple days rather than the whole week they would have more potential stories to use. They could vary the presenters and format from programme to programme depending on availability etc. None of them seem entirely comfortable with the autocue (I was thinking that before the autocue sketch). It can't help that some of them perform with their back to the studio audience - some of whom, presumably, can also read the autocue. The survey includes an opportunity to make specific comments as well as just ticking boxes. I hope they get a lot of constructive comments as I really want the programme to succeed.
February 16, 201213 yr Series 2 on now, fairly decent overall so far, very much the same really. Although the reaction to the following means it can probably only go down now. http://www.channel4.com/programmes/10-oclo...hich-witch-hunt There aren't enough superlatives in the world.
February 16, 201213 yr That rant was a real highlight  Of course the reason the Sun have never had a witch hunt against real witches is that they supported one as PM for 11 1/2 years. The weakest parts of the programme - by far - are the pre-recorded sketches and Jimmy Carr's dressing up slot.
February 23, 201213 yr Bring back Listen to Mitchell! and stick CHarlie's desk back in front of the audience. I don't like change!
February 23, 201213 yr They should certainly bring back David Mitchell's rant, preferably in place of Jimmy Carr's rubbish accent / dressing-up slot. Matt Cardle's presence was a bit pointless last night. They were trying to combine two separate arguments and it just didn't work.
