January 26, 201115 yr Author ooh I've only just noticed, no new Glee tracks this week inside the top 40, the chart looks better without them, at least we have a few Indie tracks inside the top 40 this week from Wombats, Vaccines and Beady Eye.
January 26, 201115 yr Its because the Glee songs this week were not that great overall. I cant wait till they cover California Gurlz

January 26, 201115 yr RE Glee: The show is more known now than it was last year. People are hardly going to wait four odd months to see them on UK tv when they've been aired abroad since September. [i know I didn't] A HUGE mistake on E4's behalf. Viewage of the episodes early no doubt leads to illegal downloadage. I love Glee, I really do but even I'm not deluded enough to try and defend it. The quality of both the music and the writing has fallen so much this year. It's fast becoming a gimmick to get every Tom. Dick & Harry that offers on board and I think it suffers from too many characters syndrome. Something which if not handled correctly leaves you with a Heroes type taste in your mouth [ie not pleasant]. Edited January 26, 201115 yr by GrAmii

There are too many characters and too many songs per episode, it leaves very little for substantial, distinctive plots. And the quality of the covers this year is not as good as it was last year, which combined with the time differential between US and UK airings is leading to a lack of impact on the charts, as we've seen this week and last.
January 26, 201115 yr Titanna?! REALLY?! How 'hilarious'. Well I had a good chuckle at it, and I didn't come up with it. ;)
January 26, 201115 yr Made up for Ke$ha, fingers crossed she stays at #1 till Sunday. Titanna? Am i missing something?
January 26, 201115 yr What's going on with Higher? Is it suddenly ineligible for the chart or something?
January 26, 201115 yr What's going on with Higher? Is it suddenly ineligible for the chart or something? No, it's at 20+2
January 26, 201115 yr Author What's going on with Higher? Is it suddenly ineligible for the chart or something? That was my mistake, I didn't look high enough, didn't realise it was #22, was surprised the track climbed that high actually in the end.

Its a big shame the Glee songs are not doing so well anymore, I think the song choices have made up for the weak storylines and the almost complete lack of a plot.I think Ryan Murphy has completely lost it and seems to be trying to turn the show into a Kurt love in.I do understand the need to represent more gay diversity but he seems to be trying to tell his own story rather than develop story lines for other cast members. There is not enough of Mercedes, Puck or Santana-rant over.
January 26, 201115 yr Female Domination this Week :D Come On Ke$ha and Adele :D Edited January 26, 201115 yr by JAM123
January 26, 201115 yr Keshas song is just soo dumb down and generic in every way. Cmon UK! You guys usually know better! lol Hopefully Bruno will somehow catch her later in the week. Maybe her sales are just front loaded? ignore JAM, her debut was big over here and tik tok was a massive pop song so this being the first new material from her in the uk charts it usually means iot will do well due to her developing fanbase - hence usually the first single rom the 2nd album hits the top spot.its not always about quality with the uk charts !!
January 26, 201115 yr does anyone know if adeles first album could end up at no2 this week??if so has that ever happened before in chart history?

The Glee tracks performed very well in other countries where the show aired at the same time, or within days of the premiere in the US. Agree about the Heroes thing too. In season 2 of Heroes there were 15 characters in the main cast! :o When you included the recurring characters, it was just too much. I hope Glee don't go in that direction, as it'll just leave the casual viewers alienated and confused every episode.
