February 23, 201114 yr Well, good sales and good albums happen, let's not get too carried away. She may be have the globally biggest album in a while but she's FAR from global stardom. Whatever she may be 'globally', I just hope this extreme success doesn't spoil her. It would be an absolute travesty (Joss Stone anyone? Puke). Don't think it will but who knows?
February 23, 201114 yr They've re-evaluated her sales projection: http://www.hitsdailydouble.com/news/newsPa...gi?news08428m01 ADELE KEEPS “ROLLING” XL/Columbia Diva Set to Approach 300k with Sophomore Album, 21 February 23, 2011 It took a couple of months, but the record industry finally discovered 2011. Adele’s sophomore XL/Columbia Records release, 21, is on target to debut at #1 next week with the year’s highest sales total, expected to be anywhere from 275-300k, and possibly even higher. With more than 150k in first-day sales reported by those music retailers who haven’t been robbed blind by Lindsay Lohan, the album will be fueled by a non-stop parade of TV appearances and a full-court press by Steve Barnett and Team Columbia. Adele broke in with a bang for her debut album, 19, which came out in January, 2008, and earned her a pair of Grammy awards at the 2009 ceremony, including Best New Artist and Best Female Pop Vocal Performance. The album had sold over 903k copies and 1.85 million digital tracks in the U.S. since its release The only other newcomers to make a dent will be veteran Wind-up Bayside and Sire’s Destroy Rebuild Until God Shows, both in the 14-17k range. February 23, 201114 yr I hope she can break the 300k barrier, it'd be amazing for her  This year is definitely ADELE's year ^_^ GaGa who? :P
February 23, 201114 yr NEVER MIND, I only just now noticed there's a Darius forum Oh, there are some GEMS amongst the artist forums.
February 23, 201114 yr 150,000 in one day :o Wow, I expected 21 to be huge in the USA but it's surpassing even my expectations :D I really hope it breaks 300k. Hopefully 19 will be back (?) in at least the top 20 as well, #3 on Amazon is very promising :D 21 #1 on 8 major charts (also Scotland according to Wikipedia :kink:) and certain for the US #1 this week as well, plus RITD top 10 on 13 major charts with possibly the USA added to that total soon as well :o According to www.mediatraffic.de it's the second highest selling album worldwide of 2011 thus far as well with 835k and that's before its American release, it's almost certain to overtake Rihanna (and get to the million mark) on the next update :D Her worldwide success this era is absolutely fantastic :D Hopefully Someone Like You will be another massive worldwide hit (although I think pushing it as a UK single would be pointless and they should just move onto SFTTR now). SLY is #28 on US iTunes so it definitely has huge potential over there, SFTTR is at #44 as well :D Edited February 23, 201114 yr by Bray
February 24, 201114 yr And in more amazing Adele news, Ryan Tedder labels her 'the single greatest female singer alive, period' (She did Turning Tables in ONE TAKE!) Ryan Tedder, who co-wrote two songs on Adele's new disc, is a believer. He's still flabbergasted by watching her nail one of those songs, "Turning Tables," on the first take in the studio. "Rumour Has It" took two takes. Tedder, who has written or produced songs for Beyonce, Kelly Clarkson and Leona Lewis, said Adele is "the single greatest female singer alive, period. "I've worked with a lot of people," he said. "I've never, ever, ever seen or witnessed a singer do what she does in the recording studio." http://abcnews.go.com/Entertainment/...2984101&page=1 Edited February 24, 201114 yr by bellboys
February 24, 201114 yr I wouldn't have her down as the greatest singer alive today but let's be honest, people exagerate. I would say she is One of them so don't think i am knocking her. Next to Amy Winehouse, she is hands down the best talent we have produced from the UK in a long time. Well i think so.
February 24, 201114 yr Next to Leona Lewis, she is the best UK talent we've seen in a long long time imo. Her success is incredible, i had no idea 19 had sol 903,000 copies in the US?! :o 21 is going to sell 1 million there, i wonder how long it can stay #1, i bet for a long while, any big releases coming soon in US? It looks like Adele will do what she's likely to do in the UK over in the USA as well, sales of 19 not quite reaching 1 million initially but then passing the mark around the time 21 is released. 19 is #3 on US iTunes albums (21 is #1 obviously) and I think it's #3 on Amazon as well, so she could end up with 2 top 10 albums like she did in the UK :D Mumford & Sons are #2 on iTunes too so it's an all-British top 3 and without even the slightest hint of an American rapper collaboration - let's just ignore the rest of the top 5 which is filled by two Bieber albums :puke: :( Edited February 25, 201114 yr by Bray
February 25, 201114 yr 19 being in the top 10 on itunes and on amazon doesn't give any reason on why it will make the top 10 in the US. I am not being rude or direspecting what your saying, but it shows more people are downloading the album the buying it. The album chart on itunes doesn't reflect on the eventual album chart on the billboard 200.

February 25, 201114 yr Looking at this list without a doubt she deserves her own forum, especially as there is so much love for her on here and her huge success in the UK and Worldwide. ^_^ I was ready to suggest a forum! I think that i now or never for an Adele thread
February 25, 201114 yr Only when she gets as big as Darius and not before.... :w00t: Edited February 25, 201114 yr by bellboys
February 25, 201114 yr HAHA! At the above comment ! Nah. Adele's forum will be like Alicia's/most other forums. Popular to start with until the era ends and there won't be anything to talk about.
February 25, 201114 yr I still can't get my head around the concept that the vocal for Turning Tables was wrapped up in just one take and Rumour Has it in just 2 takes! I mean, that's just unbelievable, isn't it? Edited February 25, 201114 yr by bellboys
February 26, 201114 yr i wanna be her friend so bad it hurts! i'm so glad she's doing so amazingly in america i was worried the hype of the last album wouldn't have carried over but it clearly has and those sales predictions are incredible! i just watched the adele performance and i think it's my favourite one so far it was flawless. and i love that jimmy kimmel vieo with the people shouting out! :P
February 26, 201114 yr It's rare people can keep the success of a second album going in America. Leona, Duffy, Corinne are a few who have failed at that.
