Posted January 27, 201114 yr http://www.stereoboard.com/content/view/163210/9 Robbie Williams Set To Get His Own Musical Share Thursday, 27 January 2011 Just when you thought the hype surrounding Take That’s comeback tour couldn’t get any bigger, it has been revealed that a musical about the career of Robbie Williams is in the pipeline. According to The Sun, Williams has given his consent for work to begin on a production about his career to date. The musical is currently in the planning stages, however Williams is said to have already given permission for the use of his entire catalogue of solo material. A source told the newspaper: "Robbie is bang up for the musical and thinks it will be a fun production. He loves West End shows and is honoured they will be doing one about his life." The play is set to be performed at London’s Old Vic venue, and producers have already started auditioning prospective ‘Robbies’. It is not the first time that Williams has been depicted on stage, as 2007 saw the premiere of a popular production based on the music of Take That. The musical toured the UK before eventually taking up a London residency in early 2008. Despite media speculation about Take That’s supposed falling out recently, Williams confirmed this week that he would definitely be taking part in the bands extensive UK stadium tour later this year.
January 27, 201114 yr I think if they do this - it should be a fictional story just showcasing the music (the route taken by the makers of Take That The Musical). If they do a realistic, fact-based story - then they'd better wait until the tour and (if there is going to be one) after the next album. It'll end in tears and acrimonious break-ups otherwise. Kath
January 28, 201114 yr Author I don't mind musicals, Mamma Mia was brill! Not sure I would be too bothered about seeing a Robbie musical tbh
January 28, 201114 yr Then again, I hate flippin musicals. :puke2: I can't stand them either. There are ONLY two musicals that I like: The Sound of Music - because I like EVERY song (and Chris Plummer was a bit of a dish when he was younger) and Singin' In The Rain (which I love more for the comedy than the music.) Musicals I hate with a vengeance: Grease, West Side Story, Fiddler On The Roof, South Pacific and Grease. Kath Edited January 28, 201114 yr by Kathyp
January 29, 201114 yr The only 2 I like are Calamity Jane and High Society. Mamma Mia :puke2: Although to be fair I only saw the first 20 minutes. Then I headed off to pull my toenails out for some light relief. :(
January 30, 201114 yr Author I saw Mamma Mia at the theatre in London years ago, a whole different experience to watching it as a film on dvd.
January 30, 201114 yr I would like a Robbie musical...at least for a change I would actually know the wprds to the songs <_<
January 30, 201114 yr I hate musicals anyway... :P It is surprising that there are no musicals for his life though. There has been noboby as big for the last years :o (+ he is a spicy character nevertheless) Still there is no way anyone could convince me to watch it!
February 15Feb 15 I remember there was another mentioning about the musical much earlier in some magazine... In 90s or 00s. Maybe The Face? But cant't find it. Can you help?
