February 3, 201114 yr Its hard to tell. Artists can recover from flop eras but Ana's been out of the spotlight for so long. She hasn't technically been successful for 5 years and what she needs is to put something out there. Its sad really. I was listening to Left Outside Alone today and it remains a masterpiece. However, were she to come back with tracks as good as that I'm not sure they'd be successful because the market has changed a lot since.
February 3, 201114 yr I think she can, but she needs to pull her finger out, stop touring with coffin dodgers and get recording pronto.
February 3, 201114 yr Simple answer no. Expanding on that a little though, I think she'll STILL sell moderate amounts of whatever she records. I could imagine her being one of these Mel C type artists, who keep going on odd little niche markets in Europe, but I think as far as the UK goes she's done. And it never got going to begin with in the US. She's been away too long, and you can only really come back from that if you're a known legend a la (Cher, Whitney), or if you're a tabloid fave (Britney, Mariah). Anastacia sadly doesn't fit into either category.
February 3, 201114 yr Author I just think that it's incredibly sad how (as of 2004, and only 3 years active within the music industry) she had became the fastest and best selling female artist in Europe. Her Greatest Hits still managed to sell around 3 million in Europe alone (around 500,000 in the Uk!!), and her THREE-LEG stadium/arena tour was sold out on every show!; yet now she doesn't seemed to focused on her career.
February 3, 201114 yr What is annoying is that on recent HCTG shows, she has shown that she is still more than capable vocally :( she is wasting that by doing the tour.
February 4, 201114 yr I think she could still be successful, you never know these days, i think she needs to come back with one killer single though, another "i can feel you" and she'll be done for good, but if she can come out with something along the lines of LOA, PMD, or ODIYL i think she could get a sizeable hit and a fairly decent selling album as long as the follow up singles are just as good. I think she has a better shot across europe than the UK but again you never know, if she's marketed right and returns to her trademark sound it could definitely regenerate the hype that was lost with the last album.
February 4, 201114 yr her not releasing the title track from her last album 'Heavy rotation' may have cost her her career, and i still stand by this opinion today. she chose to release the worst 3 songs from her last album. she had her shot and she lost it. Goodbye Anastacia!!!!
February 4, 201114 yr I'm afraid she's never going to be big again :( Such a shame, the woman has some amazing material
February 4, 201114 yr her not releasing the title track from her last album 'Heavy rotation' may have cost her her career, and i still stand by this opinion today. she chose to release the worst 3 songs from her last album. she had her shot and she lost it. Goodbye Anastacia!!!! She didn't choose. The record label chose those songs. She wanted Heavy Rotation and Defeated! She didn't even choose the album style or anything about it. MERCURY wrecked her career, not her.
February 7, 201114 yr The 2 singles released from Heavy Rotation were awful, but wasnt her choice. I think she can make it big again in Europe, not sure on the UK.
February 7, 201114 yr She let them wreck it No she did not... That's a stupid thing to say. She fought to get the other singles released but Mercury refused to promote her after ICFY flopped so badly, she then had to fund her own tour and attempted to release the singles again but it fell through. It wasn't her fault! Edited February 7, 201114 yr by Callum.
February 7, 201114 yr That is not a 'stupid thing' to say. She let them control EVERYTHING last time 'round. She was succesful enough to have some input on how things were handles with HR. I really do partly hold her responsable
February 8, 201114 yr Quite. To say Anastacia isn't at least partially responsible for her demise is RIDICULOUS. This will no doubt be an unpopular opinion, but even had she released Defeated or Heavy Rotation instead of I Can Feel You, she'd have STILL bombed, because the basic fact is that NONE of the material from that album came even CLOSE to the likes of Left Outside Alone or I'm Outta Love. And sadly for her, Anastacia was NEVER one of those huge megastars (like say Britney) who could be assured of a hit no matter what $h!t they dribbled out. The whole thing was doomed from the beginning. And unless you're going to argue that Anastacia is a complete pop industry puppet who only sang what she was told to sing, then she IS accountable. She must have known ICFY was a STINKER. And lest we forget, it wasn't JUST the APPALLING record that buried her, but also the lies about her age, the GROTESQUE plastic surgery, and the suicidal admission that she hated music that also killed of any credibility the woman may once have had. And you CAN'T blame the record company for any of THAT. She was her own PR disaster.
February 8, 201114 yr I Call It Love and All Fall Down were the most Sprock sounding songs on HR and might have helped the album. Also, the leftover track, Calling All Angels is miles better than every other song on the album. I stand by my opinion that ICFY is one of her best songs, just a p*** poor single choice.
