Chasing Cars out first in a poll containing Cascada, Infernal, Meck, Akon and sodding CHICO?! Bray, you are failing.

Fair call on the other 4 but I will not accept any hatred towards Meck.

(I still very much stand behind my vote for Chasing Cars though)

I totally understand what you mean but just because a song may not do well in one year against some songs, doesnt mean it wont do better in the other year against other songs. And since its the top 40 sellers of the year I think its only right they get to be in both years

I highly doubt Take That or Snow Patrol will do any better in 2006. They're simply not liked songs. Chasing Cars looks like it'll probably go out in the first 10 rounds again.

Same with Nizlopi and Shayne, both will flop in 2006 and 2005. I do actually like the Nizlopi song (mainly because it takes me right back to Xmas '05) but it's not going to be popular on BJ, and Shayne is an X Factor winners' single which always do terribly in these games.

I could understand your point if one year was more fiercely competitive than the other, but frankly it's not. In every year BJ on average will have a fairly split like/dislike in regards to portions of the list because the chart by design is supposed to represent many different tastes, plus there's always an overlap in two years that are next to each other. The kind of records that are on both lists are typically firmly in camp "BJ hatred" and didn't underachieve at all. People hate CC because it's overplayed and people just don't like Patience for whatever reasons (trying to avoid saying anything about gender here...)... none of this is going to change and you can put in songs that haven't even had a chance to compete but might actually be popular.

I agree. If only for the sake of consistency.

Who cares about consistency? This is an internet poll, not some parliamentary vote. It means nothing. To hell with consistency in this case.

I wish I could say 'to hell with consistency' for anything. I think I have a mild case of OCD. :drama:

I wonder if people would be arguing if the same Katy Perry, Rihanna or Lady GaGa song was in the list of best sellers for 2 years instead of the same Snow Patrol, Kings Of Leon & Take That song.

Oh, and "Bad Romance" is in the 2009 and 2010, not one person is complaining, not even me. If a song sold well enough to be included in 2 year end charts, there should be no reason for it to be taken out of the poll.

As much as I hate Chasing Cars I agree if it was one of the 40 most popular songs of two different years it should be in this twice. Hopefully it'll just be axed quickly again.

Ugh, there's so many songs on here that I really like but I fear most of them will struggle to make the top 20. I voted Chico, and I don't even hate it

Well I hate Katy Perry and care little about Rihanna, so I certainly would be complaining! Funny how you assume I have generic BJ taste which is quite far from the truth. The only reason I didn't complain before is because, as I said, I didn't notice before. And absolutely Bad Romance should be taken out of the 2010 game, too, and with even more good reason since it already won the 2009 one!

And why do you people take this thing so seriously? Yes, the game is called "least favourite of xxxx's best selling singles" but that doesn't mean we have to stick to it so strictly and go against the actual common sense approach... it makes no logical sense to leave these songs in for two years except to be "proper". Pointless.

Its the top 40 sellers of the year. So putting the number 41 single of the year wouldnt make sense. So ALL top 40 tracks will be included. If people vote them out early, so be it.

why make is more complex? I'm absolutely fine with the same song being in two polls (male or female )

plus Chasing Cars and Patience were first released in 2006- to obliterate them on the year they actually sold the most would be a little harsh

and actually KOL had a different pattern in 09 and 08- 16th in 2009 and 22nd in 2008

It's the same thing again. It makes no difference if the #41 song is put in, in fact it makes more sense than having two songs in both games. If it bothers you that much then perhaps a title change is in order.

But seriously, I give up on this because 1) nothing is going to change so it's pointless and 2) I should probably take my own advice as I'm starting to sound like I'm taking it too seriously :D

That'd be because in 2008 it only had a couple of months of sales, but it sold consistently throughout the whole of 2009 (X Factor helped too)

More complex? It would exactly be the same except a couple of different songs would be put in? Didn't realise that would be such a huge strain on anyone here. Apologiez.

And that's being incredibly anal again - it really makes no difference in the context of this game which is based on how much the song is liked, not how much it sold. People vote on how much they like the song NOW at the end of the day, not how much they liked it then.

But seriously, my last post about this now. I'm tempted to cheer for Bad Romance in the 2010 game now though  (kidding...)

I meant in this game it finished 16th in 09 and 22nd in 08, as an example of a song that has fared differently in both games

sales-wise it was in the top 10 of 2008

I must admit that when I first started doing all of these games, I wasnt going to included songs that had been in previous games but in the end decided that if it had been successful two years running that it should be included in both years.

I'm going with the majority, and voting out 'it's chico time'. completely crap by someone who isn't even funny in the slightest.

anyone who votes out 'I wish I was a punkrocker' and 'from paris to berlin' will be crowbar'd... LOL not really. but seriously, don't vote them out. :(

I do have a slightly ulterior motive for arguing against the idea of leaving two songs in the same year, as in 2003 Sugababes was the #43 biggest-seller with Hole In The Head, but if you removed all the 2002 entries it would have been #40 :( It upsets me muchly that it won't be on the poll for that year so I can't cheer it to victory. I genuinely think it would have won, too *sobbing*

I've gone for Chico first as I know it's inevitable but there are some truly dire songs in here. I loved 2006 musically, but I'm guessing a lot of what I loved can't have sold very much...

Oh  Shows I paid absolutely no attention to the year end chart of 2008
