March 22, 201114 yr Luckily I can't see either getting much jury support, whereas the jury support for OPA did at least make some sense. I still reckon Greece will get a minimum of 7 from us should they make the final, and Turkey maybe 8 as it's a stronger song than Greece. Which for once leaves the 12 up for grabs! And if Ireland are in the mix then Jedward will be a shoe-in for it :drama: If not then who knows!?!
March 22, 201114 yr Finland or Denmark will probably be in with a shout of getting it...or who knows, maybe even France?!
March 22, 201114 yr Finland or Denmark will probably be in with a shout of getting it...or who knows, maybe even France?! I can't see the former, we didn't even give one point to Tom Dice  And I'm not sure that Da Da Dam does the job anywhere near as effectively... Denmark and France I can definitely see doing well in our votes, I seem to recall Malena did quite well in our televoting in both the semi and final in 2009 and this is essentially a better executed version of that (note, not better, I still prefer La Voix!).
March 22, 201114 yr Agreed, Finland is HORRIBLY overrated this year. Is it me or have they kind of lost it lately? Back in the day I always loved the Finnish entry... I know what you mean about Sognu being a better-put together La Voix, I can't see it scoring hugely from the UK televote though.
March 22, 201114 yr I don't think they've lost it at all! They've reliably put out an 8/10 pretty much every year (2008 aside), and they're going to do horrendously well with Da Da Dam if it gets a plum slot. People's memories aren't that long that they'll hold it effectively being a Me and My Guitar retread against them...
March 22, 201114 yr Author Finland's alright, I've massively gone off it though. I can see it doing relatively well, but whoever decides to send the boy with a guitar next year will be destined for failure... As for the current odds, really can't understand how Estonia are so high! It's a great song, indeed, but any other year that sort of song has odds as long as 33/1, so I'm not sure why Estonia are any different this year. France...well, I can't see them winning either. These opera songs are always tipped to do well - Bonaparti.lv, Malena Ernmann - but rarely do much... That said, I think the French song is better than the aforementioned two, and that Slovenian entry from a few years ago, so they could well end up top five. We're going to win though, end of. :smoke: I genuinly think WE CAN as well! I really don't see who can stop us... Russia's song has failed to live up to expectations, and the Azeri entry just seems to lack something. Like Rich said above, I can't see people going out in their droves to vote for them. Blue, on the other hand, are both audience and jury friendly. We have a decent position in the draw, and I truly think we're going to do it this year. I think I'll actually cry if we do as well.

Agree completely with basically everything there. Ghosty made a good point somewhere else that Estonia are perhaps being looked on so favourably as it's quite quirky and different musically and lyrically (at least the verses are, the chorus sounds like it comes from a different song completely), but we ALL know that the same trick is never pulled off twice in succession and I just can't see another quirky teenage girl winning this year. I'm definitely getting the winner 'vibe' which I got with Norway and Germany in 2009/2010 with the UK this year, and I really hope that we can pull it off! Either way, I'd be gobsmacked if we finish outside the top five.

Either way, I'd be gobsmacked if we finish outside the top five. Im trying not to get too excited about the prospect of us winning - Its been along time since there has been any kind of excitement about a UK entry and at the moment every forum or YouTube comment i read seems to be in support of Blue, I keep listening to the other songs and nothing stands out for me the way Blue does. I also think there could be some 'goodwill' voting towards the UK with us hosting the Olympics next year the ESC would slot in nicely with that seeing as most of Europe will be here anyway
March 24, 201114 yr The odd thing about Russia last year was that it picked up a fair few of its points from NON-diaspora - Turkey gave it one of their top three points, amongst a fair few other countries. It must have had some bizarre appeal beyond diaspora... I wouldn't hold your breath, as basically half of Russia goes on holidays to Turkey/Egypt/Greece. That might be a reason.
March 24, 201114 yr You think :o I wouldn't think they do so in May much though? Anyway when are Egypt joining this thing? They're about as "Europe" as Israel is... or maybe now Italy are back, we can go after Morocco again :cheer:

I'm not up on my international politics but I'm pretty sure the Morocco case is similar to the Lebanon one, and possibly Egypt as well? It would be interesting to see what would happen if Israel did pull out, I'd say we could have 3-4 new arab countries wanting to join.
March 24, 201114 yr Half of Britain goes on holiday to Spain and that doesn't get us many points from them either! I doubt many straight larger louts have a passion for Eurovision when they go to Spain though - I lived in Spain for 3 years and shockingly never voted for the UK either :kink:
March 24, 201114 yr It would be brilliant if the Uk Won! Hope Blue do as much promotion as possibile!
March 26, 201114 yr Have placed my bet for Blue to win :kink: Let's hope they do because i'll be £200 better off
March 26, 201114 yr Maybe I'm wrong, but I'm still thinking everyone is getting too confident about Blue winning, when I can't see it. I'd love to be proven wrong though!
March 26, 201114 yr How much did you put on them to win. £20/25? A brave move if so :o Paddy Power were offering to double the amount you placed on a bet - So i put a £15 bet on which they matched, So a £30 bet on Blue winning!
March 27, 201114 yr I do like the UK entry this year and I would be fairly surprised if it didn't come in the top 5. However I doubt they'll win. Much of the "support" Blue is getting is coming from the UK and not around the continent.

Much of the "support" Blue is getting is coming from the UK and not around the continent. I'm not so sure that the majority of support is coming from the UK - After our recent ESC performances i think most of us are scared to think we can finish Top 10 let alone win! Looking around at blogs, forums and YouTube comments over the past few weeks a hell of a lot of comments and support seems to be coming the UKs way from Europe.
