February 18, 201114 yr Not really. If they mime they mime, it isn't the end of the world. Besides, some singers sound terrible live so it is better to have them mime.

February 18, 201114 yr If I pay to see someone perform live, I want the vocal performance to be unique to that night. If the vocals are mimed, that won't be the case.
February 18, 201114 yr Hmm, I think some fans aren't going to like this :P I do sort of agree, singers should sing live mainly - definitely at concerts

February 18, 201114 yr I haven't see Rihanna mime in years? But yes, I definitely hate miming. I can understand it if they're ill and do not wish to cancel, or if it's a skanky morning TV show like Daybreak. Other than that, no excuse. Even if you're dancing.
February 18, 201114 yr I think the problem with your argument is that you hate singers who lip-sync. The majority of artists bother to move their lips, therefore it is not mime.
February 18, 201114 yr Other than that, no excuse. Even if you're dancing. Actually, on second thought I'm not so sure. When I saw Britney at the Onyx Hotel for example, she sang only 2 songs live (Shadow & Everytime). Honestly, Shadow sounded appauling I almost wish she didn't sing it live. But her dancing... OMG HER DANCING. It was spectacular, and there was so much going on, it was a show, not a gig. You know? But the Circus tour... no songs live. Minimal crowd interaction. Mediocre dancing. That's inexusable, especially at £60 a ticket.
February 18, 201114 yr Yep! That's my main reason to dislike an artist, for example Katy Perry, Cheryl Cole etc. It's a disgrace to music to call them singers, as the only thing they do is making money without having the specific talent for that! Going to a concert and you watch them mime? Show some respect to those poor fans who paid to watch you move your lips as the playback track is on! Yep, hate them!
February 18, 201114 yr Like Rihanna, Cheryl Cole etc? Didn't you mean to say Britney Spears and not Rihanna?

But if you are, I agree! :yahoo:

I agree she's not a great live singer, but a mimer she is not.

February 18, 201114 yr I don't think it's a huge deal if they do it on some tinpot TV show or whatnot, if someone mimes in concert or where people have actually paid to see them perform live then yes, it's unforgivable.
February 18, 201114 yr Rihanna is a good live vocalist (imo). She's not AMAZING, but she has definitely improved!! I think when an artist mimes, it just defeats the whole point of being an actual artist. And if anyone comes out with crap like, 'Oh they have to mine because they dance and perform a lot of stage'. Tell that to Beyonce, Katy Perry and Lady GaGa.
