Finally got round to downloading this album and am listening to it now. Love You Like A Love Song is a decent opener, but the melody is ripped straight out of Pet Shop Boys' It's A Sin

I knew I'd heard it before, I was thinking more 'I Will Survive' in the verses, some 80's gay anthem anyway!

'Love You Like A Love Song' feels like there's something missing, it feels as if it should be up-tempo. I just find it a bit empty  I prefer 'Who Says' and 'Whiplash'

My favourite is probably Who Says atm, followed by Love You Like A Love Song. I do really like Whiplash, but I can't help thinking it'd be better if Britney kept it for Femme Fatale (though I do prefer Selena over her as in general).
What the f**k is up with this bitch!? The first two albums were diabolical, bar 'Naturally' on the first and the title track from the second...and now she unleashes this!? Very strong album so far, to quote herself "that's more like it". Her voice is still a bit whiney at times, but at least the music is good. I'll do a rate after a couple more listens, but it's very good thus far!

Rate:

Love You Like A Love Song - 10

Bang Bang Bang - 10

Who Says - 10

We Own The Night - 7.5

Hit The Lights - 9.5

Whiplash - 9.5

When The Sun Goes Down - 8.5

My Dilemma - 9.5

That's More Like It - 9

Outlaw - 9.5

Middle Of Nowhere - 10 (Better version of Joe McElderry - Ambitions much :kink:)

Dices - 10

Fantastic album, in my top 3 of the year along with Lady Gaga and Wynter Gordon! My fave is either WS, LYLALS or MON, but this is deffo her best album overall (WTSGD > KAT >> AYWR)

If you're after a better version of Joe McElderry's Ambitions, I recommend the Donkeyboy original!

Anyway, on first listen I rather enjoyed the first half of the album but my interest waned severely in the second half. However, I shall persist as the production on it is decent throughout and give me something to hang onto until the melodies grow.

Nothing compared after hearing Whiplash then? :kink:

I was too stunned by its brilliance to acknowledge the existence of anything I listened to after it for a good hour or so :o

Why do people think WOTN will do well in the UK JUST because Pixie is on it? Last time I heard about her she flopped hardcore, and Broken Arrow was hardly a big hit. None of her singles have been huge sellers - even the numbers ones. As much as I love Pixie, I just think people are delusional  If anything, Selena is helping out Pixie, not the other way around :P

I personally think it should do well because it is a fantastic song, and Pixie is more musically well-known in the UK so maybe could help it. It probably won't even be released though! I haven't listened to the album all the way through yet, I'm waiting for my CD which should arrive on Friday or Saturday from HMV :)

Aww Yeah, Turn It Up selling 815,000 is flopping hardcore. Broken Arrow didin't do the greatest because ballads don't do great and it wasn't promoted the best and came out during Xfactor. Mama Do has sold over 300,000+, Cry Me Out has sold over 300,000+ Boys and girls 250,000+, and all the rest have sold over 120,000! Selena is helping Pixie in the Us by doing this.

We Own The Night is good, but the weakest song on the album imo. Obvious single choice after LYLALS is either BBB or My Dilemma.

It's funny how Selena's album have decreased in quality since album #1. But I guess there was more of a passion into it then.

I think I feel the opposite, I preferred AYWR to K&T and from what I've heard it's looking like I'll prefer WTSGD to AYWR :D All great albums though!

It's surprising that she's written more this time around.

Selena's Highest Cherry picked is We Own The Night with Pixie Lott ! It actually says Feat Pixie Lott :cheer:

This is a seriously amazing album!! My standouts are Hit The Lights, We Own The Night, Middle Of Nowhere (I totally see the 'Ambitions' comparison - just this is so much better!), My Dilemma and Whiplash. That's nearly half the album, and the weakest is probably That's More Like It - but the whole album's great and my favourite of their's so far!

Hopefully it can match the peaks of K&T and AYWR and get top 15 :D

Does anyone know if the reason they chose 'Other Side' as the original album title was because it is a lyric in 'Whiplash': So come on, and take me to the other side.

Just wondering if she has ever confirmed if that its where she got that from :)

Top 15 in today's midweeks :cheer:. Hopefully she can beat the peaks of Kiss & Tell (#12) or A Year Without Rain (#14) :)
I'm actually really liking this album! I agree with GD though that the first half is much stronger than the second.
