This Sunday's slightly more high-profile new releases:

Alesha Dixon feat. Jay Sean - Every Little Part Of Me

Elbow - Neat Little Rows

Foo Fighters - Rope

Hurts – Sunday

Joss Stone - Back In Style

Katy Perry feat. Kanye West - E.T.

Manic Street Preachers - Postcards From A Young Man

Slash feat. Fergie - Beautiful Dangerous

Tiësto vs Diplo feat. Busta Rhymes - C'mon (Catch 'Em By Surprise)

Of those, I struggle to see any lighting up the charts. Tiesto is already charting, MSP might scrape in with physicals I guess. Katy Perry I haven't even heard yet, there's been a shocking lack of attention for the single. Elbow and Foo Fighters should both go top 40, with FF possibly rising in the coming weeks with it only premiering in the last couple of days.

I see Elbow, Foo's, Katy Perry definetly hitting top 40 and MSP & Hurts could possibly get there too. The rest will fail (Even Slash ft Fergie :( )

My first thought about the Elbow single - although I thought it was great - was that it didn't exactly scream "hit single". However, I now think it will at least make top 40. The fact that it has been used as background music may help it. Of course, the album looks a good bet for their first number one.

Alesha - flop.

Elbow - not sure, could go top 40 if they have a big enough fanbase but otherwise not enough exposure for their return.

Foo Fighters - maybe top 20? It's on air / on sale AFAIA so it could end up peaking later

Hurts - possibly another 50-out chart run for them :P Although probably lower. They NEED to release Illuminated FFS...

Joss Stone - who?

Katy Perry - was already released last week and is outside the top 100 on iTunes, it needs airplay and video play to climb

Manics - their last single peaked at #44 so law of dimishing returns forbids this to go top 40 (then again, U2's IGCIIDGCT...)

Slash - hasn't this been out ages? Flop.

Tiësto - will already be top 40 this week, the 'proper release' won't help it out that much. Hopefully at least top 30.

So yeah, highest new entry probably Foo Fighters. It's an extremely dry release week.

Alesha Dixon feat. Jay Sean - Every Little Part Of Me

Elbow - Neat Little Rows

Foo Fighters - Rope

Hurts – Sunday

Joss Stone - Back In Style

Katy Perry feat. Kanye West - E.T.

Manic Street Preachers - Postcards From A Young Man

Slash feat. Fergie - Beautiful Dangerous

Tiësto vs Diplo feat. Busta Rhymes - C'mon (Catch 'Em By Surprise)

All of them scream FLOP expect Tiesto who will make top 30 and Katy Perry who will be a climber and peak top 20 but make top 40 next Sunday.

Alesha- lower top75

Elbow- Top50

Foo Fighters- probably about No25-No29

Hurts- Top75

Joss Stone- flop :P

Katy Perry ft Kanye West- Top20

MSP- Top75

Slash- Flop

Tiesto- Top30

Joss Stone? :o Has she not given up on music?

I'd be very disappointed if 'Neat Little Rows' doesn't at least match the peak of 'Grounds For Divorce'. They're a lot bigger band now and it's a good song so I fail to see how it won't at least go top 40, it's not on air/on sale either so it's had time to build up demand....

Edit: Although I didn't realise that neither Radio 1 or Radio 2 had playlisted it. I find that incredibly bizarre. I'd say if ever there was an act that could cross over to both then Elbow would be up there.

Joss Stone - Back In Style

WHO... old news, not a chance in charting

Most likely a three way fight between Adele, Jessie J and Lady Gaga for #1, but I reckon Jessie will return back to #1, Adele's track might start trailing off after this week.

FF and Katy Perry are most likely to chart from the others.

Katy Perry is at #17 in Ireland right now, so if that's anything to go by, she should get top 20, maybe top 15 :) Hopefully it'll rise to top 20, then people will hear it, download it, and maybe rise to top 10? Jessie J or Enrique had no promotion or much airplay when they released their singles... Just everyone knew that Enrique had got top 5 in America - Hopefully she'll release a video soon - And anyway, it's Katy Perry :D

E.T. was released on iTunes at least 9 days ago (the earliest reviews are from Feb 16) and is not in the iTunes top 100.

127. E.T. (feat. Kanye West) - Katy Perry

The highest new entry will could be a track you've not even listed.

Breakage releases "Fighting Fire" next week. It's a lot more commercial than his usual stuff, I'm not really a fan of the original though.

It is the highest pre-release single on the iTunes chart at the moment, #119.

What has happened to radio support for Alesha Dixon Radio, Brummer Boy and her latest with Jay Sean are all radio friendly but commercial radio is blanking her.I suppose it would be too much to hope that she at least goes Top 40.KP and KW will probably go Top 20 if not higher.

Ooh, I didn't realise that was out next week. Hopefully a top 20 hit for him.

Hurts must go top 40! Stay missed top 40, such an amazing song! Why don't they release Devotion? Superb song and features Kylie which will give them i suppose a top 30 position! Hope Sunday isn't the last single from Happiness!

And Joss Stone? :D no clue about this release! Love her but unfortunately not top 40!

The only singles that will enter top 40 are:

Elbow - Neat Little Rows Top 40 (like Elbow but this one is meh)

Foo Fighters - Rope Top 20

Katy Perry feat. Kanye West - E.T. Top 40

Alesha Dixon feat. Jay Sean - Every Little Part Of Me - everything she releases flops- this will go the same way- Jay Sean's name won't help

Elbow - Neat Little Rows- think this could go top 40, as it is their comeback

Foo Fighters - Rope- Wheels only made 22 in 2009, so I'm not sure about this one- of course it could climb over time

Hurts – Sunday- flop

Joss Stone - Back In Style- will be lucky to make the top 1000

Katy Perry feat. Kanye West - E.T.- top 20 at best - there's just no buzz around this at all, and its the fourth single off a huge selling album, I honestly cannot see this making the top 10

Manic Street Preachers - Postcards From A Young Man- I can't see this doing much, top 40 if its *very* lucky

Slash feat. Fergie - Beautiful Dangerous- flop, I didn't even know this was happening

Tiësto vs Diplo feat. Busta Rhymes - C'mon (Catch 'Em By Surprise)- will be top 40 this week, probably climbing next week

dry week overall, the real question will be Lady gaga and what her video will do for her

It's an extremely dry release week.

Every week is dry in terms of new entries since the on air/on sale approach moved in. This is what the chart is going to be like all the time from now on with only one song debuting in the top 10 every now and then. I guess the only top 10 debuts in the next few weeks will be Jennifer Lopez (based on its success in Europe, Australia and the US already), Wiz Khalifa and The Wanted (which will surely debut at #1) - and is there any news of an "alternative" Comic Relief song this year yet? Although I guess there could be a few random surprises along the way as always.

I'm sure E.T. won't peak next week - it hasn't even been added to Radio 1 yet? It's on air/on sale again as the Kanye version only premiered recently, so some people are jumping the gun a bit already predicting a flop. Although I didn't realise even those kind of remixes were going to be released early, too; surely that removes the entire point of them?

Of these, only Foo Fighters will make the top 40. Katy Perry will probably climb in later; the others never will.

Katy Perry is indeed just an on air / on sale release, which was released over a week ago as I keep saying. Airplay hasn't started for it yet, next week is not its official release AFAIA. And it doesn't have a video either. That said, there doesn't seem to be much buzz around E.T. in the UK, it's gone top 5 on US iTunes but hasn't even made the top 100 on hype in the UK. I don't think E.T. will be that big in the UK but it won't flop. It might have to settle for a Waking Up In Vegas type run at worst, but I think it will go top ten eventually.

And I don't think the lack of major new releases in the next few weeks is directly caused by OA/OS as that has yet to fully take over, there's still only been a handful of OA/OS releases, it's just a coincidence a particularly 'dry' release schedule happened to occur after OA/OS started. Correlation does not always equal causation and etc. Although I agree the release schedule will get a bit less packed once OA/OS takes over

I disagree. If it wasn't for on air/on sale, we'd have Britney Spears, Avril Lavigne, Dr Dre, Noah and the Whale all debuting around this time, and all getting significantly higher than they would have done from their early release. The first three would be debuting in the top 10, and N&TW would be top 20, I think. Jessie J would also probably be debuting right now, likely at #1 (again). So there has been an impact in the activity in the top 10 at the current time, as all apart from Jessie J of these songs have either failed to get there now (although Dr Dre could still make it with push as his video has only just premiered) or had very short runs in the top 10 (see Britney). Not a huge one, but there's never been that many new entries in the top 10 before since downloads came in, anyway, so to take a few of them away does lead to this deadness. Of course it did make late January/early February slightly more interesting than normal, too.

And I don't agree this dry time is a coincidence - IMO this *is* the norm from now on. The period at the beginning of the March is the out of the norm period with Jennifer Lopez, Wiz Khalifa and The Wanted all heading for (semi) front-loaded debuts as I already said. Of course I don't have any evidence of this yet as it's only just started - thus it's merely my observations - but come mid-2011 it'll be obvious if this was a normal patch or not.
