May 18, 201114 yr Unless some people tell me this is amazing, I'm not going to download it. Such a shame, their first two albums are literally amongst my favourite ever. I've not been really wowed by anything I've heard from this far from this era.
May 18, 201114 yr Yep i have the link, check ur pm James! This is definitely better album than Humbung, really enjoying in the album now.
May 18, 201114 yr Author I've listened once. 'Library Pictures' and 'Black Treacle' are the best things about the album but unfortunatley it is as I feared, nothing amazing. Full review later after another listen.
May 18, 201114 yr Yeahh...so, I'm not a fan of this on first listen. Shame. :( Think I'll just go back to listening to Bon Iver instead.
May 18, 201114 yr Author OK, here's how I stand after a few listens: She's Thunderstorms // 6.5/10 // A nice enough start, but nothing special. Black Treacle // 9.5/10 // Love this, really nice. Brick By Brick // 8/10 // Re-grown on me this one, and it fits in quite well where it's placed. The Hellcat Spangled Shalala // 5/10 // Nice, but a bit of a yawnfest. Don't Sit Down Cos I've Moved Your Chair // 10/10 // Duh. Library Pictures // 11/10 // This albums 'Pretty Visitors'. Love this track so much, this is the Monkeys we know and love! All My Own Stunts // 7.5/10 // Good if not a little dull, Homme is the redeeming feature. Reckless Serenade // 9/10 // Beautiful little track this one, really grown on me since first heard it last week. Piledriver Waltz // 5/10 // I'm not sure what to make of what they've done to it. Alex's solo version is so much better. Love Is A Laserquest // 4/10 // And from here on in the album begins to send us to sleep. Suck It And See // 5/10 // Better, but no cigar. That's Where You're Wrong // 4/10 // DULL OVERALL, that scores it 7.04/10 which isn't half bad really. As you can tell though, it's either GREAT or filler. Definitley their worst album but by no means terrible.
May 26, 201114 yr its definitely dofferent than Humbug, different than any other AM's album. much poppier and sweat , like a murdly bum&LSP&leave the lights... so many great tunes here, no fillers, some people will say its their best since their debut!
May 26, 201114 yr Wish there new stuff did them justice. First album was amazing, second pretty good, last one not brilliant! There first two albums were played constantly in my car for months, but I only listen to the last one a handful of times, didn't inspire me at all!! Edited May 26, 201114 yr by bustarsdotcom
June 3, 201114 yr OK, here's how I stand after a few listens: Piledriver Waltz // 5/10 // I'm not sure what to make of what they've done to it. Alex's solo version is so much better. its my fav track in the album.somehow , now i prefer the AM's version! new album i think is better than Humbug or even FWN
June 4, 201114 yr I quite like Don't Sit Down Cause I've Moved Your Chair, it is a bit more exciting than Crying Lightning...however, it's not anywhere near as good as the singles from their first 2 albums. :( Like Humbug, I doubt I'll be bothering with this album unless the second single is something particularly special!
June 6, 201114 yr Library Pictures does seem to be everyone's favourite - maybe just for the reference to "ip dip dog $h!t" alone? I liked SIAS, more immediate than Humbug I reckon.
June 8, 201114 yr Unless some people tell me this is amazing, I'm not going to download it. Such a shame, their first two albums are literally amongst my favourite ever. I've not been really wowed by anything I've heard from this far from this era. ITS AMAZING! if you like Mardly Bum. Cornerstone or Fluorescent Adolescent PLUS Turber's acoustics you are gonna LOVE that allbum...please, suck it and see! ')
June 8, 201114 yr Author I've now reached the decision that this album is better than 'Humbug' and actually offers a much more rounded and complete look at the band's career. I do highly recommend.
June 13, 201114 yr Author It definitley is. For me anyway, it's been a HUGE grower in the last couple of weeks.
