Since when has the term "front loaded", when used with iTunes, been described as "a song that continues to increase in popularity"?!

Surely frontloaded sales gets it to a specific place & then it will drop because there's no demand for it.

The fact Nicole has RISEN since her first appearance on the chart is surely a sign that the general public actually *shock horror* like the song

& that's why it's #1. How ridiculous that I keep seeing "it's probably frontloaded".. load of rubbish.

I think The Wanted may be front-loaded, however, if their doing promo and probably the opening performance on Comic Relief, then that will help them stabilise

It is the main Comic relief single, there will be an unofficial one, but most people won't know that until the night, so its physicals will still be very strong- they always are for any charity song, look at Heroes and Peter Kay's charity song for Children In Need who basically did next to nothing on itunes (well Heroes did, but it had already fallen very quickly by the time Poison was released)

anyway, I genuinely don't know yet- I think we have a genuine chart battle on our hands which is really what we've been missing :D

Anctually, this song it so weak I think that whatever is promoted on Friday as the alternate single will blow it out of the water. Remember what happened in 2005, when Mcfly's All About You was completely overshadowed by Amarillo? The same could happen this time. Unless of course it's pile of old trousers like 2009's debacle by two of the supporting actors from Gavin And Stacey..

And physical-wise, The Saturdays medicore cover from that year didn't exactly have people buying the CD in droves. I'm quite skeptical the Wanted will do any better. Anyway, as you said it'll be an interesting chart battle, and may the best lady win..

:P

basically, the saturdays had a way better comic relief song went in at number 2

Wanted don't have much promotion and are VERY, VERY frontloaded.. Look at heart vacancy and all there chart runs.

Nicole Scherzinger lead is increasing more and more.. we could only judge by tommorow. Btw.. DHYB is getting much more video play than poison and her radio & video will increase this week aswell. Even if she misses out on top 2 and gets #03 that's not awful. Very good btw

THIS X2

The Saturdays had a disadvantage- they had no comic relief performance or promo to back it up and by the time it came, it was too late and the unofficial one (which are always more popular) was released and on course to top the charts

oh and All Time Low's chart run: {1}-5-8-10-15-19-24-14-23-22-28-36-34-28-36-40-42-34-48-58-70-51-41-65->24

not very front-loaded there is it? :P

anyway- lets just wait and see, nothing is clear at this stage

sorry, that was meant for Lee Wallace

Nope, Poison has only sold a dissapointing 185k, Dont hold your breath will defo outsell this though!
I can see The Wanted being front loaded and dropping off in the week. I don't think it will sell many physicals until Saturday - I don't think it has been widely promoted as a charity single. Not sure about Nicole. I can see her getting more casual buyers because of all the performances last week.

Well, since iTunes is a 48 hours chart, it's pretty rare (read: impossible) for a song's pop bar to decrease 24 hours after release.

Poison was still increasing at this time too, and was #1 on iTunes for most of the week, with Your Song at #1 at the beginning and end of the week, iirc.

However, I do hope Nicole wins. She's got the best song. And her lead at the moment is bigger than Poison's ever was, and should increase for another day at least (unless The Wanted increase faster suddenly, but Nicole's will still be increasing, but the whole thing will be proportional, so it'd look like it's decreasing).

Don't hold your breath has had a brilliant start compared to Poison.

The Wanted will trail off more than Nicole though, die-heart wanted fans will be purchasing and the gap is quite big between Nicole and Wanted bigger than what she ever had over Ellie.

I do think by friday Adele will be number one on itunes, but i hope she can pull it off.

It is- same as poison.

Songs get to number 1 which are frontloaded all the time - JLS' TCIA for one - dropped to 5 by midweek on itunes - helped b high physicals to keep it at the top - same in part with TW All Time Low - which I sure dropped off midweek too, however had high physical to keep it afloat.

Whichever way it does go, itwill probably be very close between Nicole, TW and Adele come Sunday

How with Comic Relief and promo throughout the week leading up to CR.

Nicole has done her promotion - TW havent even really begun

Wow at Nicoles lead! The UK has started to fall in love with her :)

O RLY so what do you call this then:

They appeared on the show, and it didn't affect the outcome one bit as Flo Rida coasted to victory. I don't think The Wanted are that good live either, and their album was a bit of a flop too.. it's on sale at £3 at my local supermarket. Still only time will tell

The chart run of "Heart Vacancy" and their album was very front loaded though, at least in the higher numbers. In fact, "All Time low" dropped 1 - 5, which isn't that common.

Yes, Nicole had completed her promotion... but her radio & Tv will be high this week.

The Wanted have completed most promotion and will be promoting 3 times (daybreak, this morning/lose women and comic relief)

Apparently Nicole will be performing for comic relief aswell.

There single will not attract netural customers while Nicole would. Promotion dosen't always get you over 20k sales, it helps but sometimes things stay the same - look at the saturdays higher for example, promotion did help them but didin't make a massive impact as did avril lavigne - what the hell.

It's making me laugh people saying Nicole is " front - loaded " when Wanted will no doubt be much, much, much more front-loaded.

....which was on March 13th, two weeks after the song was first released on March 2nd :P the unofficial one followed on the 9th of March which was the week leading up to the event on friday, it had strong physicals and Comic Relief sealed the deal

this year its been done differently and the official one has been released in the week up to the event

The Saturdays had no promo that week so Flo Rida beat them- The Wanted certainly stand more of a chance as they perform on the week leading up to the event

although shes gaining a decent lead- so let the battle commence! :D

Just can't get enough was also miles better.

Can we remember the Wanted have already did good promo (Lets Dance - Comic Relief & Alan Titermash show)

Maybe he is, but Right Round is far more listenable that the Saturday's JCGE will ever be. At least they have an original song this time.. shame it's so irredeemebly awful.

That's all fine & well, but those two examples that you used are notorious for having quite large fanbases.

Even though I'm pretty much a Nicole stan, I wouldn't say there's a huge fanbase that will have pre-ordered the single & that is continuing to buy the song.

I am in genuine belief that people just do like the song and are buying it for that reason.

There is not a huge Nicole Scherzinger fanclub downloading and downloading the song..

And also, Poison never got that far infront of the #2 song..

*face-palm*

I'm not saying TW aren't going to be frontloaded - you nonly have to look at ATL/ HV to see that they tend to trial off midweek - which is when in this instance the CR effect/ performance will come into force.

TBH I cant be bothered to argue the toss about a Charity single and a generic pop song - hopefully Adele will trounce them both and get a 5th week at the top after an uber-brilliant performance on friday night

The Saturdays comic relief single $h!ts all over The Wanted. It's still on the radio and in clubs it's that good.
