Anyone want to explain the sudden hate towards the band Brother?

I'm thrilled that they're performing at Reading, finally a chance to see if they are as good live as they are on the studio tracks. Also thrilled at the announcements of Ed Sheeran (although it'll be packed in that tent), Foster the People and Young the Giant.

They're fake, they're morons, they think it's 1996, and they're arrogant cunts.

what James says. I actually know them. they are nothing like what they make out they are, that isn't even the music they want to make, basically they are a product of Geffen records. they make out they are from working class backgrounds which is a massive lie, infact one of them grew up in a massive house in a posh area, they aren't even from Slough just one of them sort of lives near there. the drummer Frank is pretty safe though to be fair, and is a great drummer.

it's not sudden hate though really, everyone thought they were $h!t to start with it's only the saps who take NME seriously who actually enjoy the fairly bad music.

Are tickets still available? I'm genuinely considering going for DFA/Horrors/Digitalism.

i'm failing to get excited over this. should be a great weekend but once you have been to glasto you realise Reading isn't all that. if it had better bands to be excited about i'd be over the moon like last year, but in the end only The Offspring and Capdown are anyone for me to get excited about, everyone else i've already seen.

TOMORROW

You must be even a LITTLE bit excited by now Chris?

a little bit i guess. i'm still not over Glasto tbh, Reading is just nothing in comparison. also this is my 6th Reading, it's nothing new and one of the worst line ups i've seen. shall still be a great weekend and one of the best of the year. doesnt really feel like it's only two days away.

Call me a wuss but the big attraction when I've been to Reading has been the fact that my hotel room was in walking distance :D

well i can get home to my bed and shower easily anyway. but the campsite antics can often be fun, was in 2008 and 09 anyway. last year was a bit shit camping wise (partly due to the weather, partly because for some odd reason we camped with a bunch of dicks who only two of our friends knew), ending up with me just sleeping at home two nights. might be tempted to do the same this year but i'm hoping for some fun times to make up for lack of good music.

i'm very bruised and broken, this year didn't seem as good as normal, much higher proportion of dickheads than usual, but there was some fantastic performances, i.e Saul Williams, Does It Offend You, Yeah?, Henry Rollins, The Offspring, Capdown, Pulp, Frank Turner (x2), Death From Above 1979, Flogging Molly and Muse.

Good times. Agreed about the dickhead proportion being higher this year and if I ever hear "oi nathan" again it'll be TOO BLOODY SOON.

Entertainment-wise it was still very good however. Particular highlights include The National, Death From Above 1979 and Crystal Fighters (despite being kicked offstage early).

i think the problem is there's too many under 18's going, i'm not generalising there are plenty of kids who take to the festival well but 90% of the people getting on my tits did seem to be about 16. anyone who shouts Alan really does need to be hit. The worst thing is moshing to unmoshable music, like The Naked and Famous which was a massive dissapointment for me due to the crowd, i surprisingly felt old and a bunch of guys who looked around 16 started a pit and it's like how, and then someone with a video camera walked into the crowd (like it looked like they were with the bbc but i don't think they were but it would be easy to assume) and one of them literally elbowed me in the head and pushed me to get in front of the camera, and i don't understand why if you're having a good time you don't need to purposefully go mental infront of a camera to get in a half a second shot, enjoy the band instead. and like there was a proper brutal mosh pit during madness, like one you'd expect at say enter shikari, and it's like this is a ska show why are you pushing each other rather than skanking, i always enjoy a good mosh but i don't get how you can to madness. /rantover

puts me off going again tbh, even though i live near if the crowd keeps getting more dickheadish and the line up keeps being this bad and the price keeps being this high it's not gonna be worth it anymore. at least i can hide in lock up wihere it's garenteed awesome people.

Attempting to mosh to The Naked and Famous is NOTHING on attempting to mosh to Daisy Dares You.
