March 28, 201114 yr March 27 J-Lo April 3 J-Lo April 10 J-Lo/Adele April 17 Taio Cruz / Wretch 32 April 24 Wretch 32 / Adele SLY May 1 Wretch 32 / Adele SLY May 8 Blue / Lady Gaga That looks like an awful list of number-one singles. I can definitely see Jennifer Lopez getting two weeks, up until 10 April. Although I still have high hopes that The Black Eyed Peas 'Just Can't Get Enough' will climb to the top spot. Potential big hits of the weeks though: April 10 - Owl City 'Alligator Sky' - Permitting Radio 1 pick it up, this could do alright; although slim chance of even making the top 10. April 17 - Wretch 32 ft. Example 'Unorthodox' - I see Wretch's career following a similar path to Katy B's, meaning that this'll peak at around number 3/4; or at the lower end of the top 10. April 24 - Nero 'Guilt' - Another top 20 hit, I reckon; but not enough coverage at this point to get #1. With 5 weeks of little to by, it could be Lopez/Adele/The Black Eyed Peas at the top for quite some while. All the hype of Gaga is pointless, everyone said 'Born This Way' would get #1 but it certainly didn't. Example's 'Change The Way You Kiss Me' and David Guetta's 'Where Dem Girls At' are both upcoming big releases too.
March 28, 201114 yr All the hype of Gaga is pointless, everyone said 'Born This Way' would get #1 but it certainly didn't. Yeah, but it would've done if it had been released on a Sunday rather than the Friday...
March 28, 201114 yr Certainly I reckon the BBC will make far more of it in terms of advertising this year than they did last year, so we may see Blue possibly get two weeks at number one (reaching it the 15th and staying on the 22nd) depending on hype. With the release schedule looking all but dried up (I do think Wretch 32 feat. Example 'Unorthodox' have a good chance) but apparantly Blue 'I Can' is only released on the 8th May, so I'll be quite surprised if they ended up #1 just one day after Eurovision 2011. If anything, they might get a post-Eurovision boost (especially if they do well) and could climb to #1 on 22/05/11. As for J-Lo, she's got the #1 spot bagged for at least three weeks. I doubt Adele will return to #1 now but probably spend the next couple of months slowing dropping down the top 10. My predictions: 03-04-11 = Jennifer Lopez feat. Pitbull - On The Floor (150k) 10-04-11 = Jennifer Lopez feat. Pitbull - On The Floor (100k) 17-04-11 = Jennifer Lopez feat. Pitbull - On The Floor (70k) 24-04-11 = Wretch 32 feat. Example - Unorthodox (well, it's better than 'Traktor' at least) (70k) 01-05-11 = Wretch 32 feat. Example - Unorthodox (I predict a low sales week this week - 50k or less sales for #1) 08-05-11 = Lady GaGa - Judas (a long shot but if it's any good then maybe, who knows - 60k? :D ) 15-05-11 = Lady GaGa - Judas (60k) 22-05-11 = Blue - I Can (55k increasing on previous week)
March 28, 201114 yr I think On The Floor for the next few weeks and then possibly LMFAO "Party Rock Anthem". It's already at 4 in the itunes chart with next to no promotion. Mann "Buzzin" is also another one to watch out for, it sounds like a real summer anthem and I can see that doing well. Hopefully GaGa's second single will go number one too, and will be her better from BTW era
March 28, 201114 yr Jade's song wasn't overly chart friendly (maybe in the 1950's ), but in the same year, the winner Fairytale went top 3 on iTunes and top ten officially and I think that Blue could benefit from that sort of boost if they win, but even moreso seeing as they're a British act and a fairly well remembered/liked one at that. Oddly, without Eurovision I don't think that their comeback would have any commercial success whatsover, it's not like there's the same nostalgic fondness people have with Blue as they did with Take That or even Boyzone's reunions! Far from Eurovision being the 'career suicide' that a lot of people call it, this is a genuine huge opportunity for Blue to get a big comeback hit that they wouldn't have got any other way. I forgot about Fairytale, although it was very frontloaded- then again, it wasn't British... so yeah it could go to number 1, it will be very front-loaded though I agree about Blue, this is a shot to get back into the public eye and commercial success again, they had pretty much faded into oblivion before this was announced (I'm pretty sure every single one of them was in a reality show ), not much for credibility, but in terms of hit making, its a good move :D
March 28, 201114 yr Blue will definetely be #2 first release in years for a popular band and if they win ESC11 I can see it climbing to number 1.
March 28, 201114 yr Author My predictions: 03-04-11 = Jennifer Lopez feat. March 28, 201114 yr E.T. won't as its an album track and actually isn't that great; Sewat definitely won't either as its not mainstream enough. 'E.T'. might have a chance at #1. It's got two versions of the song, both already in the top 40 on iTunes, and it's video is getting quite a lot of hype.
March 28, 201114 yr Hits, do you really think 60K for Lady Gaga in the first week? I reckon it'll be 90K at least...
March 28, 201114 yr 'E.T'. might have a chance at #1. It's got two versions of the song, both already in the top 40 on iTunes, and it's video is getting quite a lot of hype. Is there definitely a video for E.T if not when is the video premiere?
March 28, 201114 yr I honestly do not see why people think wretch 32 will get to no.1, traktor was a lot more hyped than unorthodox and that only just made the top 5,the only thing I can see is J-lo for at least 2 weeks, with either E.T, Just Can't Get Enough or Where Dem Girls At having a decent shot at no.1 before lady Gaga and Blue come around. However, hopefully we will get a big new single announcement sometime soon from someone like beyonce who is due for a new album release this year and who is known to have a big collab with Kanye.
March 28, 201114 yr Hits, do you really think 60K for Lady Gaga in the first week? I reckon it'll be 90K at least... I think you're right Tyron, I've probably way underestimated first week sales for 'Judas'. Considering 'BTW' sold 60k in two days, the new single might even reach 100k. It depends on how it's marketed, promoted and released. If it's getting the "to radio, to retail" treatment then it should easily sell well in its first week. If a music video is released the same week then that provides another boost in promoting the song. Has 'Judas' leaked yet? Or even just a 30 second preview clip? I'm interested in hearing what the track sounds like.
March 28, 201114 yr Why is everyone saying that Blue have faded into obscurity etc etc. I don't think they have any more than Take That or Boyzone had. :/ It's boybands like A1, 5ive, V etc that have long been forgotton (ok maybe alot less so than V for the formers but you get what I mean) I'd say that Blue are probably as well remembered as Boyzone were. It's just Boyzone have No Matter What which sold millions haha. :P
March 28, 201114 yr OH how I loved V :( *has a V play 'day' right away* Did they have an album? Oh and to stay on topic - Lady Gaga will definitely go to #1 with 100K+ sales. All those supressed homophobic Gaga fans will finally be able to buy her music again! Edited March 28, 201114 yr by Andrew*
March 28, 201114 yr If Adele gets any more weeks at number 1, I wil . It is unlikely though. Edited March 28, 201114 yr by starryeyed
March 28, 201114 yr Is there definitely a video for E.T if not when is the video premiere? The video is set to première on the 31st (Thursday).
March 28, 201114 yr JLo is likely to hold #1 for at least 3 weeks but if it turns out to be really frontloaded another return to #1 for Adele doesn't seem too far-fetched. Her sales only fell by 4k last week. BEP and LMFAO could also challenge for #1 within the next 2 or 3 weeks depending on how fast JLo tails off. I hope Wretch 32 can get to #1 but I'm not sure he will, I have a bad feeling he'll do a Pro Green and perform worse this time despite having a bigger featured artist... Lady GaGa (if released on a Sunday) should be fairly safe for a #1 and I Can might have an outside chance if it wins ESC - I don't think it will regardless of the quality of the song as I think the UK's winning days are well and truly over. It definitely could go top 5 a la Jade Ewen though. Edited March 28, 201114 yr by Bray
