Played it 4 times today, probably the weakest in the bunch both soundwise and lyrically, nonetheless still a good album. Next and Dirty Diana are my initial favourites, but likely to change, as they are also the most catchy. I really like his MJ imitation, but in the end I don't think his cover improves on the original or deviates from it in any significant way, shows how brilliant his vocal is though.

It better be on vinyl.

I'm about to get in trouble with Pavel and Cremey! I liked 'House of Balloons' quite a bit (clearly not as much as everyone else it seems) but the last two mixtapes have been borderline dull.

You aren't in trouble with Cremey, as he thinks basically the same, just me!

I agree. He has quite cut it for me yet + there are other artists of his ilk who I'm certainly more excited about at the moment.

Haha, indeed!

I think for me the problem is that I haven't listened to them enough yet though. I've only given 'Thursday' and 'Echoes of Silence' a couple of listens each, whereas 'House of Balloons' was one of my most played albums/mixtapes from last year. Perhaps I haven't listened to them that much BECAUSE I found them dull though, who knows.

I don't think Thursday and Echoes are dull...I think they're just lacking a little bit on the hooky melodies that made House of Balloons so good. I'm not normally a fan of those meandering RnB numbers that go on forever with no hook and not much discernible melody (which is why I think 1+1 is the worst song on 4), but I can happily listen to everything on House of Balloons. I think you have to dig a little harder for something to latch onto on Thursday and Echoes, and it's not necessarily something in the melody, but something in the production, but they're both still pretty good.

I'd rank them;

House of Balloons > Echoes of Silence > Thursday

I only really listen to The Birds, Life of the Party and Rolling Stone on Thursday.

House Of Balloons is the worst one for me. You can see a clear progression through the three.

THIS.

HoB also took me the longest to grow while Thursday was incredibly instant. Still can't get into The Birds Part 2, Life of the Party, Lonely Star and Heaven or Las Vegas the way I was into the rest of the songs, although all 4 are very good. The only song on HoB that still doesn't quite GRAB me is The Party & The After Party and, to less extent, What You Need. As for Echoes of Silence, the only song that I don't particularly orgasm over, which is probably my least favourite track of the whole Trilogy, is Echoes of Silence :(

So having heard each track AT LEAST 25 times, my Trilogy rankings are as follows:

01 House Of Balloons / Glass Table Girls

02 The Birds Part 1

03 Outside

04 Rolling Stone

05 The Knowing

06 The Morning

07 Gone

08 Wicked Games

09 The Zone

10 XO / The Host

11 High For This

12 Same Old Song

13 Initiation

14 The Fall

15 Life of the Party

16 Loft Music

17 Next

18 Montreal

19 D.D

20 Thursday

21 Coming Down

22 Lonely Star

23 The Birds Part 2

24 What You Need

25 The Party & The After Party

26 Heaven or Las Vegas

27 Echoes of Silence

Found out last night one of my friends is seeing him live at Coachella. Soooooooo fucking jel :arrr:
This man slays big time, he is the new hip hop leader....

I think I'll be making one 60 min cd out of the three albums at some stage. I dont like everything he makes but really do love some of it.

"sooner than you think".

I HOPE.

I felt his albums just improved. Can't wait for the breakthrough album
