Alicia Keys has teased that a collaboration between herself and Adele is a definite possibility.

The "Empire State of Mind" singer hosted the Black Ball in London last night alongside Mark Ronson, in order to raise money for families suffering from HIV/AIDS in India and Africa.

Speaking alongside her husband Swizz Beatz to MTV about the duet, Keys remarked: "I think he started that! Look at this guy, he's like a rumour starter.

"He was like, 'I think I started something that we gotta finish'… Listen, Adele is one of our favourite artists and I think she's very special and she has a beautiful style about her."

Poor Adele - she can't sing or speak for a month because of the laryngitis :(

Adele has reportedly been told by doctors to avoid singing or talking for at least a month as she attempts to recover from acute laryngitis.

Doctors have apparently said that the singer could do serious long term damage to her voice, and may develop nodules on her vocal chords.

Adele wrote frustratedly on her website: "There is absolutely nothing I can do but take the doctors' advice and rest some more."

She has already postponed her American tour due to the illness, and it is likely that she will have to cancel further shows.

The 'Someone Like You' singer has also been warned that her smoking habit will make her problem worse. She recently admitted that she "can't stop" smoking, despite the condition.

A source close to the singer told the News of the World: "Adele's voice is very special. But if she continues to abuse it in the way she has, then she could lose it completely.

"The problem is that she's now back in London and seeing her mates like the comedian Alan Carr, and all she wants to do is have a gossip with them."

Adele is currently at the top of the Billboard Hot 100 chart for a sixth week with 'Rolling in the Deep'

Hello!

As I'm sure most of you know I had to cancel over half of my US tour a couple weeks back. It was a devastating decision to make, but I really had no choice. I had to give my voice 2 weeks rest or risk permanent damage. I'm so so sorry. We are in the middle of rescheduling it all and I will see you there when I return. Once all the new dates are in place I'll let you know straight away!

I was having the best time ever on tour, I enjoyed the shows so much and met so many amazing people and got to play with the best artists I've ever played along side with, and I really am gutted to be back before it's finished. Thank you though to everyone who came to the shows I was able to do! I'm at home now, watching box sets and sorting things out into neat piles and resting. I haven't been able to cook for almost 3 months cause I've been on the road so I'm getting back into that.

I've become obsessed with Beyoncé's I Am... Sasha Fierce Tour DVD and 30 Rock, and I've also started uploading over 1000 CDs to my iTunes! Long but satisfying! I can't wait to be able to sing again, I'm bored stiff. I've had a check up and I'm on the mend, I still need to take it easy and rest but things are looking up. I haven't been told to not sing or talk for a month, I have given up smoking again, and also I'm not having singing lessons. I got better before and I'm getting better this time, and I will do everything I can to make sure nothing like this happens again! I'm gonna be on stage in London in just under 2 weeks but it's a surprise I think!?

xx

Adele has let slip that she is booked to play a secret London gig in a few weeks' time.

The "Set Fire to the Rain" singer is currently resting her voice following doctors' orders, after cancelling a string of dates in the US earlier this month.

Writing on her official blog, the 23-year-old admitted: "I can't wait to be able to sing again, I'm bored stiff. I've had a check-up and I'm on the mend, I still need to take it easy and rest but things are looking up."

She then let slip plans for a secret gig in July: "I'm gonna be on stage in London in just under 2 weeks but its a surprise I think!?"

The singer recently complained that she gets "bored" if she cannot smoke, despite calls from throat specialists to stop damage occurring to her voice.

Alicia Keys has clarified reports that she is planning to record a duet with Adele.

Last week, rumours circulated that the "Fallin'" singer would be open to collaborating with Adele. Keys has now revealed that a duet may soon become a reality.

Adele was reportedly forced to reject an opportunity to duet with Beyoncé during her headline slot at Glastonbury festival on Sunday evening.

The "Set Fire to the Rain" songstress had to refuse the offer as she is under strict instructions to rest her voice after contracting acute laryngitis earlier this month.

"Adele was absolutely gutted, Beyoncé is one of her big heroes. It would have been the stuff of dreams to perform with her - the gig of her life," a source told The Sun.

"But docs have told her she's got to rest her voice or risk damaging her prized asset. She hopes one day they can do something together."

Beyoncé played a 17-track set, which included her hits "Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)" and "Irreplaceable" as well as a Kings of Leon cover and a Destiny's Child medley, to a packed-out field of 175,000 festival-goers.

The 29-year-old performer described her headline performance at the Somerset festival as one of her career highlights, stating that the "night was a dream".
