Unless Adele's sales turn out to somehow be over 150k again this week (which based on the Tuesday mids figure seems very unlikely) I'd be very surprised if Foo Fighters *didn't* knock her off #1 next week. She still has the longest run at #1 since 1984 though so I'm sure she'll be fine about that :P

I definitely think it can clear 100k, theres a lot of anticipation and its getting really good reviews - whether it can best Adele is yet to be seen

 

 

the rope isnt a top 10 hit but this climate is terrible even for the biggest indie/rock bands.i bet the arctic monkeys will struggle to make the top 10 next week.but even though rope has had good airplay,especially as youd expect from radio 1!!no1 and at least 85k in sales for me!!

Arctic Monkeys went all the way to #3 on iTunes with Crying Lightning and charted at #12 with half a week of sales, so with a full week for DSDCIMYC I wouldn't be surprised if it went top 10. Obviously it's very unlikely to have a good chart run (CL only spent 2 weeks top 40 and failed to re-enter even after airplay had picked up) though.

How is Firework so high :o? A week or two more in the top 40 :o? Very quiet, although we do have some good climbs.

Loads of songs (Firework, Grenade, Only Girl (In The World) etc.) are just climbing because nothing is overtaking them and they have better staying power than some songs that were above them last week. It's unlikely their actual sales are increasing.
