Another new Girlband :lol:

These ladies are the support act for Kylie Minogue on the UK leg of her (Amazing) Les Folies show.

 

They have a single out on april 18th called Girls Will Be Girls, which they open their set with.

When I saw them I thought they were really good, the songs that they did were all really great too.

I hope they don't flop on their arses. :(

 

They're f***ing awful.

 

SoundGirl are really the only decent new girlgroup.

Why are the names of all these new girlbands so crap, I don't get?

 

I quite like the production here, especially in the verses. It might grow on me. Also their image is more catchy than the other new girlbands' images.

The best way to determine whether a new girl group nowadays has any potential whatsoever is to watch their video on mute. After doing that I can safely say that Ultra Girls are TERRIBLE and that I have no desire ever to hear that song unmuted.

 

There hasn't been a decent girl group since Monrose split, and prior to that Danity Kane. They really are in exceptionally short supply at the minute. Electrik Red made a pretty killer album with How To Be A Lady Vol 1 but that was a couple of years ago now and I don't know what's going on with them... Paradiso Girls briefly showed some spark too (Patron Tequila was fucking good) but again they're AWOL now.

'Patron Tequila' :wub: (Keri's version is pretty amazing too!) But I did love Paradiso Girls version of the song. (I thought me and Euphorique were the only two who liked it, so I'm pleased to see we're not alone)

 

I honestly don't know whether I like this song or not. I think it's $h!t, but there's something "that is awful, but I can't stop listening" sort of thing about it! Probably because they're so trashy and cheap, sounding and looking. I think I'll stick to Parade out of the new girl bands. Really want to hear what they come up with next, they have potential.

I thought they were pretty good live supporting Kylie, the song also sounded really good live too but here it sounds awful, and the video is awful too. :blink:

i've said this somewhere before, and i will say it again now. Ultra Girls makes me think of ladies sanitry products!

That being said, the song is actualy quite good, it's just a shame they have clearly spent baout 8p on the video.

VILE in every sense of the word. It's a massive step backwards for the sound of the girlband. We really do need Girls Aloud or the *decent* Sugababes back to show them how it's done. I was studying yesterday and this video appeared on the music channels quite a few times sadly. I honestly thought it was another FHM joke.

I'm not really a fan of covers for first singles, even if it a language change. I don't think this will do anything but be interesting to hear what else they have up their sleeve. They seem to be working very closely with Steve Anderson and I usually love his stuff.

No, I fucking LOVED 'Patron Tequila' ... I really wish it had got released here - with a push it could've been huge. Such a good drunken anthem :wub:. The remix/mashup with 'Poker Face' is amazing too.

I saw them supporting (The stunning) Kylie at the O2 on tuesday and thought they were excellent live, much better than the single and video which is a bit naff. They really seemed confident in the big arena and i actually enjoyed watching them. I Breifly spoke to one of them just before Kylie in the splash zone and quizzed her about the cover. She said it was written by Steve Anderson and Tina? specially for another well know girl band years ago but they decided not to let them use it as it wasn't quite right for them Apparently they had no idea it had been done in spanish until the video was released. She also let slip that Steve had worked on the single with one of the Freemasions and that they had loads of new songs ready for the album but couldn't tell me who was writing or involved as it was a big secret until the album was released. Im intrigued to hear more as I didn't think Girls Will Be Girls was the strongest song in their live set and it sounds like theres some pretty heavyweight people behind them.

Saw them live at Kylie's gig in the O2.

Absolutely appaling.

 

They styling is all whorish and just so so wrong. The tracks are nice if you listen to the instrumental versions, lyrics-wise: appaling.

Their cover/mashup of Blur vs. P!nk was all very unecessary too...

 

And I knew I recognized GWBG from somewhere... Edurne's Soy Como Soy was a medium-sized Summer hit for me and a friend last year.

This project is a mess. They need new lyricists, new stylists and replacing at least two of the girls. Apart from the obvious, much needed name change.
