Yep, it begins now folks, get the lube out, part those cheeks because Uncle Gideon's gonna be coming round to shaft every single one of us.... Well, except for people who are as well off as himself, and other millionaires out there, or rich tax-dodgers who can carry on just squirreling as much as they like in Offshore Tax Haven we can apparently do nothing about even though most of them are actually British territories... Oh, and of course our wonderful MPs are being protected from much of the hardships facing ordinary families because Uncle Dave came along and said the Independent Parliamentary Affairs people were being a bit "too harsh" with their Expenses review, and were apparently not being "family friendly"..... Sorry, is this some kind of f**king joke.....????

Quote from the article....

The accountancy firm PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) calculates that households will be on average £1,000 worse off this year through the effects of higher taxes and price rises for daily necessities such as food, energy, clothing and petrol.

And research from the House of Commons Library suggests that the middle classes will be hit especially hard. A family with three children where each parent earns £26,000 will lose some £1,700 a year, and thousands more if their salaries fail to keep up with inflation. Even the Chancellor's concessions on fuel duty are being eaten up by higher inflation almost before they begin : rising world oil prices have already wiped out the 1p fuel duty cut announced in the Budget.

National insurance rises, cuts to child benefit, to child care allowances, to tax credits and another 750,000 people being dragged into the 40p tax band are the most obvious hits to family finances; but many more subtle changes will also reduce spending power.

Of these, a move to increase annualy social-security benefits by the Consumer Price Index (CPI) rather than the Retail Price Index (RPI) may eventually prove the most pernicious, as the CPI usually rises more slowly than the RPI. It will lead to a serious cumulative erosion of the value of benefits for the poorest: this year, most means-tested benefits will go up by 3.1 per cent rather than 4.8 per cent.

Other moves that will add to the pressure include: cuts to the amount parents can claim on childcare, which could amount to £1,500 for families with two or more children; the freeze in child benefit and its removal from the better-off in January 2013; and a steeper withdrawal rate for tax credits. All contribute to what Mervyn King, Governor of the Bank of England, has warned will be the longest squeeze on living standards since the 1920s.

So, clearly David ScaMoron and the rest of the Westminster piggies care about THEIR families a damn sight more than they care about any of OURS..... <_<

It seems perfectly obvious to me that the concept of "us and them" is making a comeback.... And I'd hoped we'd gotten through the 70s/early80s revival.... -_-

Also don't forget that this week the Coalition started victimising the sick and disabled merely to save money. Everyone on Incapacity Benefit will be re-assessed and the letters go out from this week. Absolutely disgraceful.

Funny, I thought Cameron was going to 'put the Great back into Great Britain'? :manson: Nice to see you have a little Damascene conversion on the matter the second it starts affecting you.

It's so unfair. I have depression yet from what I've heard if I can make a cuppa, use the Internet or use a mobile phone I'll be declared "fit for work" at the interview. Anyway I'm not that worried as I'll go to appeal and then the House Of Lords then the European Court. :)

You've gotten good at avoiding the question haven't you?

Okay fine I hold my hands up and admit that I was wrong about the Coalition. Thought n o-one could be worse than Labour but they never threatened my livelihood in 13 years of power.

Yeah, well, that's what you get for thinking the Tories are so friggin' wonderful you numpty.... No sympathy from me dude, not in your case, I'll reserve my sympathy for the genuine cases who get hard done by...

Besides, turkeys who vote for Christmas kinds of ask to get their heads cut off and stuck in the pot..... -_-

We even TOLD you this would happen this time last year and you ignored us!

And yet there's a child who's parents have just been told that 'because she seems quite happy' she'll no longer get her disability allowance (or it will be severely reduced). But she doesn't have anything as serious as 'being a bit glum' ... she's only lost a leg.

I honestly don't know why they bother with this 'clamping down' ... the people who know how to work the system will always get the freebies they feel is rightly theirs - whilst those who genuinely do deserve (in many cases need) these allowances - will be the ones to suffer. Its the same in all areas of life though - the good, honest, law-abiding citizens tend to pay for the rest.

Ah well! C'est la vie.

Oh god - Conservatives don't actually care about the nation, aslong as they have enough money to go by. F*** this I'm out of here.

I have no faith in any political party. Tony Blair destroyed any faith I ever had in Labour. The only guy who has the term 'labour' attached to him that I have any respect for is Tony Benn.

No - no political party is my friend although some are more enemy than others.

That's awful. They/she should appeal. Oh and depression is far far worse then 'being a bit glum' Kathy.

Yep.. Seriously considering emigration myself tbh... This country's just gone to the dogs.... The rot started with Maggie, continued with Nu Labor, and now is set to become irreparable damage with the Con-Dems....

What a patronising load of w*** knocking 1p off a litre of petrol.

Knocking 65p off the cost of my tank of petrol is going to do a mountain of good when a tank costs upwards of £75.

They need to be brought back down to the real world

It's been wiped out anyway by the rise in oil prices.... So, it really was a complete and utter wasted exercise.....

Tell me about it! They are already making more than that 1p/l drop in VAT alone after the increase.

The fact that an oil rich nation has to pay this much for petrol is bloody ridiculous.
